TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I keep getting this annoying pop up which is stopping me from viewing sites as it automatically re-directs me to the winfixer 2006 page. Has anyone heard of it?
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Yes, it's adware. Google how to remove it.

TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Spyboy - Search and Destroy. This is what I used when Leena suggested Googling it. Look for it, you can't miss it.
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 I used that and it did nothing
Carnival 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Do you think it came in with the Winrar? I've got winrar a couple different times and I've never had a problem with any adware or spyware associated with it. Winrar in general is a resources hog when you are unzipping something. I would suggest Webroot Spysweeper, you can get a free trial from download.com. The free trial is enough for a few scans and removal.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 8, 2006 WinRAR definitely doesn't have adware in it, unless you downloaded it from some other site.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Probably made changes to your registry when it sneaked in. If Spybot didn't work, try AdAware. If that isn't successful... I'd download HiJack This! and follow some of the info on the first Google result shown here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=winfixer+page+hijack Although, be careful--registry stuff is risky.
