Reasons to edit the speech:

1. USA probably dictated how long the show could run, and they wanted to ensure that the Mean Gene (for Hogan) and Guerrero inductions were televised. Something had to give, and that something was a 30 minute speech.

2. The opportunity to use "uncut & previously unseen speeches" as part of the DVD hype.

3. Vince is probably not that keen on a lot of Owen talk & wanted to limit the televised references to him as much as possible.

4. From what I've heard, it wasn't that exciting of a speech. Bret being at a WWE event was the real lure, not what he had to say.
