Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania

Recommended Posts

Maybe they wouldn't scream "YOU SCREWED BRET" if they didn't mention it and keep doing the screwjobs every 6 weeks like clockwork.

It's Canada. If Vince stopped mentioning the screwjob today, they'll still be chanting this at him and Shawn 20 years from now.

"The same thing I despise about you (Hogan), is what I despise about Bret Hart. You..stood for some moral fibre...that in your real life.. did not exist. Yet you stood in judgemnet, of me."

Speaking the truth, eliciting a negative reaction from the fans while they deep down know the heel is right, boy that Shawn Michaels sure has "lost it" hasn't he?

Bret should've went in the HoF after guys like Bruno and Savage. He's only going in now because he sold out again for more MONNNNNNEYYYYY for his DVD, and now can get a little more MONNNNNNNEYYYY for the HoF appearence fee and put WWE behind him once and for all, because he cares nothing about the fans that supported him all those years. So get get your fucking plaque and be gone from a great weekend. Go pop in a DVD of your shitty "greatest matches", including a slow, boring, directionless, botch-fest with Hakushi that your mark supporters wet themselves over.

Michaels was always the better mic worker and better worker. He was more explosive, could have DIFFERENT kind of matches with different guys, bumped better, and despite his own shitty backstage maneueverings, kept his character on-screen and his issues off-TV.

If you thought Bret had such shitty matches, and was generally overrated, then why did you get the dvd?

Actually Bret waived his HOF appearance fee. Of course, you'll say he's lying, but whatever.

I fail to see how his appearance now gets more DVD sales. People who wanted the Bret DVD already bought it. All the big Bret fanboys got the DVD the first week or two it was released. I doubt a HOF appearance is going to spurn more Bret DVD sales since people could've had it since Novemeber already have it and chances are people who didn't have the money either waited for the holidays or ripped it illegally.

You make a point on Bruno and Savage, but you do know you are talking about the WWE HOF right? They aren't going in any particular order. Bruno and Savage belong there before 98% of guys they already put in. The HOF is just a vehicle for WWE to make more money. Shiek, JYD, Volkoff, Hillbilly Jim, etc should not be in before Savage or Bruno either. Another factor is Vince isn't obsessed with Savage and Bruno like he is with Bret. Vince will probrably wait until both are dead before inducting them.

I do not know of any excuse for Bret except to say that he's still not over it as much as he thinks he is, and still waving it around like a flag.

How about Vince not letting it go and using it as a tv angle on a regular basis?

Again, Vince is doing it for how he does business. If something worked to get attention once, he'll do it again. That's why we have him on TV so much. That's why we have the KMA club. That's why Hogan keeps coming back. That's why Shane is going through tables when he's not fighting his first gray hairs, etc.

What Vince does on TV is a lot less real and a lot less genuine than what he does off-screen, which is where he and Bret have at least found enough common room to co-exist.

Isn't this the same Shawn Michaels who made the "sunny days" comment on TV?

Would you want that asshole there in the crowd looking back at you with that cocky grin again and have to worry that he would ruin that night, just like he ruined it for you 10 years ago?

No, you wouldn't. Shawn, is that kid who shit on Bret's diploma.

The fact is that Shawn stepped back so Bret could get what he wanted. If this were five or six years ago, Shawn would be whining that if Bret is going to be on the show, he should get equal TV time etc. I realize we all like to attack Shawn's religious act around here, but it takes a bigger man to accept a demand like that than it does to make one.

Shawn doesn't care whether he's in the same room with Bret or not, because he's got other things to live for besides a rivalry with Bret Hart. On the other hand, Bret is still carrying around his ball and chain because if he wasn't he wouldn't have had to make a demand like that in the first place. It has to do with more than titles, screwjobs, etc. It has to do with maturity, who is showing it and who isn't.

No, but at the same time that type of gesture would undoubtedly reach the exact same people who criticize him. If Shawn is really sincere, we'd hear about it. Everything he does for the camera, especially since to this day he's still playing both sides of the coin, comes off as duplicitous and two-faced.

Exactly.

It's all very good for Shawn to go on TV and claim he's a changed man, and that he wants to extend an olive branch to Bret but you never actually hear of him actually doing any of this. If he did call Bret probably wouldn't talk to him but until he tries he doesn't know. Fact is Shawn doesn't want to know. He can talk about being a new man now he has Christ in his life but it just doesn't hold any water because he never actually shows he changed.

You are painting Michaels in a lose-lose situation. If he DID make a private phone call to Bret, we would never know about it. It would be between the two of them. Bret wouldn't comment on anything that would make Shawn look good since he obviously wants to continue to hate the man and have everyone share his opinion. The ONLY way we would find out about this phone call would be through Michaels.

And then guess what?

We'd be calling Shawn two-faced and saying the only reason he did this was just to show the public that he wanted to make the effort and that he wasn't sincere, yada yada, once more.

How in the hell is Shawn Michaels EVER supposed to look good in this scenario? Bret would never accept his apology at this point, so he would never admit that Shawn has done such a thing. And anything Shawn says is immediately ignored by a lot of you here. So how the hell does Shawn escape from this situation winning some of you back to his side? Is it even possible?

I understand your point but I think that if such a phone call was placed somebody would hear about it. Sure, it wouldn't be Bret letting people know. As you say it would put Michaels in a good light and I believe that Bret hates Shawn enough to never forgive him. Shawn could do everything possible but I don't think it would make a bit of difference to Bret.

If Shawn came out and said, in a public forum, that he had previously tried to contact Bret then that would paint him in a much better light. Prove that he's actually changed. However, I can't think of anything the new "Christian" Shawn has done to show that he has actually changed.

However, there is also the trust issue from Bret's POV. Perhaps he feels Shawn will do something (not sure exactly what) to steal the spotlight from Bret's final appearance/speech with WWE?

Wow, I have to apologize. I said it was because of idiots like UseTheSledgehammerUh that Montreal was still as big a deal as it is. I now seriously doubt that there are very many more people out there as stupid as him. With ever post you make, you just make yourself sound dumber and dumber. Now I can see how someone would not support Bret in this matter, I would disagree with them, but I could understand. But UseTheSledgehammerUh just keeps maknig posts that are completely wrong. We had the whole Bret betrayed Vince and the wwf and sold out to wcw, and now we have the Bret is doing all of this for the money. Bret doesn't need money. He made more than enough money over the years in wrestling that he doesn't have to do any of this. As someone said, Bret is not accepting any money for his HOF appearance. He doesn't need it. He's doing it for the fans, so he can have what he feels is a proper goodbye. Now UseTheSledgehammerUh, let's see what stupid thing you say next. I for one can't wait.

Seriously, they all need to die now. At this rate, this thread is going to outdo the Wrestlemania one.

That would be the funniest thing of 2006 for me.

So is Vince going to pull something at the Hall of Vince ceremony?

There's no doubt in my mind it will...well, at least as far as length/number of posts.

There's not a single thing on the Mania card that's going to be shocking, after all.

Got this from the DVD boards:

SHAWN MICHAELS SAYS HE WILL BE AT THE WWE HALL OF FAME CEREMONY TONIGHT AND COMMENTS ON BRET HART

by Buck Woodward @ 3:05:00 PM on 4/1/2006

As part of the promotion for Wrestlemania, Shawn Michaels had an autograph signing session at Borders bookstore today, which had one of the best turnouts of any of the promotional appearances this week. Over 800 fans were reportedly turned away while somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-600 were able to get in during the allotted time. Michaels was said to be very pleasant, chatting with fans as he signed.

Several fans asked Shawn Michaels if he would be attending the Hall Of Fame ceremony tonight, and Michaels responded that yes, he would be at the Hall Of Fame. According to several sources at the signing, at one point Michaels asked a group of fans "Why wouldn't I be?" and one of them simply said "Bret".

Michaels responded that he doesn't have a problem with Bret Hart, "Bret has a problem with me". Michaels said he is "required" to be at the Hall Of Fame ceremony tonight, and he would be there.

Nothing is going to happen, it's all to stir up more interest around these parts. Shawn will be there and he'll move to the back of the theatre before Bret comes out.

There was ZERO chance of that happening.

I don't think it would've happened, however saying it had zero (0%) chance of happening it being a little naive. It could've happened, it just would've been very unlikely.

No, HTQ is quite right to say that. It's like the chance of you waking up to discover that the sky is green, or that pigs are passing by your window in fully aviated mode. It's simply outwith the realms of possibility that, in 1997 at the height of the legal action between the two companies, a contracted WWF worker could appear on WCW televison, and even less chance of him bringing the WWF's world title belt with him.

The more this happens, the LESS interested I am becoming.

I was really looking forward to this when it was just, "Bret walks out, does his speech, says his goodbyes and leaves".

Some interesting shots there. Great to see Dusty side by side with the Goldust gimmick and smiling. Stephanie looks like hell. Melina looks like she just did a porn.

Is anyone else kinda weirded out by Austin inducting Bret? One of the greatest and most emotionally charged pure hatreds (storyline-wise). Kayfabe truly is dead.

Vince Vs. Austin was longer, but there was so much comedy and such. Bret Vs. Austin *made* Austin the #1 babyface for years to come, and they did so many little acts of violence. I wish I could remember that instead of seieng Bret yam it up with Austin now.

Considering that Flair inducted Harley Race, it's not that weird.

Bret's heel promos in '97 had more substance, emotion and meaning than any of the shit that has spewed out of Michaels mouth. Exactly what makes Michaels better on the mic? That he was funnier?

Bret's matches with Owen and Austin are better than any match Michaels has ever had and are completely different from each other. Personally, I think he's a far better worker who has more direction and psychology in his matches than Michaels. As for your last comment, are you completely fucking blind and deaf or just completely fucking retarded?

And what has Shawn Michaels done to prove that he's changed for the better?

this

"In an interview with Mike Mooneyham of the Charleston Post and Courier, Shawn Michaels said that he wants Bret Hart to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

"Honestly I wish he would," he said. "Whatever it is that's keeping him from coming back - it's hard to believe it's still gotta be me - but if it is then I won't go. He ought to come back and end his career on a different note. Right now he's single-handedly made himself famous by being the Survivor Series guy and the bitter guy. I would want him to close his career differently. So if took me not going to the banquet to make that happen, I'm fine with that."
