chaosrage Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 Yup, that Shawn Michaels sure is a man of his word. Yeah, because Shawn didn't say he was required to go or anything. You sure are a good reader!
Si82 Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 Yup, that Shawn Michaels sure is a man of his word. Yeah, because Shawn didn't say he was required to go or anything. You sure are a good reader! After all, Shawn's proved to be such a company man in the past.
Karc Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 Shawn probably wasn't required to go until AFTER Bret said he'd walk out if he saw him. That reeks of Vince stirring the pot to get more heat on his angles. Why else cut out 22 minutes of one of the most anticipated 30 minute speeches in a while? Because McMahon didn't want to have Bret talk on TV, he wanted Bret and Shawn to have a fight on camera. Shawn's losing tomorrow as punishment.

USA controls air-time, not WWE. Besides "watch the unedited edition of Bret's speech" is a good promotion for the WM22 dvd that includes the HOF ceremony.

What would the point be in having a 60 yr old boss beat one of the few wrestlers who are over with the crowd?
chaosrage Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 I guess this whole thread was a big waste of time. Nevermind. -Shawn Michaels left with a large party right before the USA portion of the induction started.

Because McMahon didn't want to have Bret talk on TV, he wanted Bret and Shawn to have a fight on camera. Shawn's losing tomorrow as punishment. Reasons to edit the speech: 1. USA probably dictated how long the show could run, and they wanted to ensure that the Mean Gene (for Hogan) and Guerrero inductions were televised. Something had to give, and that something was a 30 minute speech. 2. The opportunity to use "uncut & previously unseen speeches" as part of the DVD hype. 3. Vince is probably not that keen on a lot of Owen talk & wanted to limit the televised references to him as much as possible. 4. From what I've heard, it wasn't that exciting of a speech. Bret being at a WWE event was the real lure, not what he had to say.
