Guest Coffey Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 My favorite parts of Here Comes the Pain were the ladder matches, Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. In Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006, those were the three most fucked up areas. Climbing ladders became a chore because all you have to do to win is be the person that grabs onto someone elses feet and then you can get up, climb the ladder and win all before the opponent gets back up. The camera angles in the chamber were fucked. You couldn't see shit. Also, the glass was glitched and didn't make any noise. The A.I. is dumb as fuck in all the Chambers so far too...just leaping to their doom over and over again. The Royal Rumble became a button-mashing affair and if you got double-teamed, you just lost without having any control over it what-so-ever. Even with a turbo controller. I don't care about the bells and whistles. I don't care how pretty the game looks, if you can see the wrestlers sweat, blink whatever. I don't need Bra & Panty Pillow Fights ontop of Caskets. Just make the gameplay not suck. Fuck. I always got enjoyment out of the little things, not the shit the developers spend tons of time and money on. For example, being able to freeze frame special moves and have the camera rotate 360 degrees mid-move was cool as shit. I loved the replay feature on the n64 games. I like the slow-motion, black & white finishers in '06. I didn't care at all about the pillow fight mode, the buried alive match or the voiceovers. I couldn't even hit a top rope finisher without my opponent getting up midmove. It made characters like RVD worthless. What's the point of playing with Ric Flair and working your opponents leg the whole match, setting up the Figurefour Leglock, if you can't win with it because you can't button mash fast enough to make the computer submit? Or the computer can just click the button in some little bullshit blue box? It's fuckin' stupid. I don't want chop battles or staredowns or any of that shit. If the match is a five-finger-stinker of a squash, sobeit. I'll either raise the difficulty or my friend will have to get better. Sometimes I like just squashing the computer over and over with them not getting any offense in. Especially if I'm playing as HHH against someone like Funaki. I don't want them reversing 80% of my moves.

I'm convinced that Yukes only worries about the graphic engine for the wrestling game now and just doesn't care about the actual gameplay.
AndrewTS Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 Of course they don't. They make "improvements" then screw something else up in the process.
Guest NYankees Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 Based off of the new pix on ign, Nitro and Melina are going to be in the new game.

Wrestlefreak Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 Does anyone know how to make title matches when your doing GM mode in Smackdown vs Raw 2006 on PS2. When I Choose a wrestler who has a title, I can't find the option to make it a title match. I've read the manual that comes with the game, but it doesn't tell you how to do it. I would be grateful to anyone who can help. Thank you. P.S. I thought it would be better to post my question here, rather than make a new thread.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 Use the right thumbstick after you have chosen the match and the competitors.

That's really all they need to care about, since the game will sell no matter what...
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 The thing is Yukes runs New Japan now, so they should at least have an idea how to make a wrestling game...
AndrewTS Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Excellent rant, Coffey. Yukes continues to piss away the franchise on presentation over gameplay.
