Guest HBK16 Report post Posted February 14, 2002 I have re-discovered how cool Lucha is espeically Shocker! Well, I have seen AAA and CMLL on Galavision. Can someone request of some events I should pick up and where? Thanks a lot.
Guest MRFTW Report post Posted February 14, 2002 Is that Shocker the same one who's competed it NJPW recently?
Guest Jubuki Report post Posted February 14, 2002 CMLL's PPVs tend to turn out well. The last 2 March shows, and probably last year's Dec. show, are worth seeing and smoke a large amount of U.S. stuff. If you're looking for older stuff, the Santo vs. Casas feud has had a couple of fabulous matches; their 9/19/97 match is probably both great and terrible for people who already watch stuff from Japan. It's an almost shoot-style kind of match, although it's still definitely all Lucha, and they do a great job, but 99.99% of Lucha is not like that match at all. AAA When Worlds Collide from 11/6/94 is also an obvious choice; I've seen the main, but I haven't picked up the entire show. Some other feuds/matches are Santo vs. Psicosis 5/3/95, the Torneo Cibernetico from 4/97, Santo vs. Rey Jr. 2/21/97, and the Rey/Juvi feud from 95/96 (as others round here can tell you). And yes, same guy.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 14, 2002 EMLL 3/17/00 EMLL 3/30/01 Juicio Final Both shows rock! You can get them from Jeff Lynch in great quality. David Bixenspan is supposed to start reviewing some more lucha shows to help us prospective buyers but he's only done one so far.
Guest MRFTW Report post Posted February 14, 2002 "And yes, same guy" If it's the same Shocker then can someone tell me what's so great about this guy? From the matches I saw him in in New Japan he just seemed like a stupid shinny tights wearing, stupid spinny elbow doing, Chris Candido looking, spot blowing, piece of crap....I didn't like him very much... Guest David Bixenspan Report post Posted February 14, 2002 I rewatched 3/17/00 to review, but it kinda underwhelmed me so I've been putting off reviewing it. I should have 12/14/01 in tomorrow and I'll review that next, followed by either OCESA Ruleta de La Muerte II and the 3/17/00 review. Every EMLL PPV is good or better though, you can't go wrong with them. -David
Guest David Bixenspan Report post Posted February 14, 2002 As far as Shocker goes, what are you smoking? I don't recall him blowing any spots, plus he had very good-great singles matches with Dr. Wagner Jr., AKIRA, and Shinya Makabe, and was in a good 6-man w/ Silver King & Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Chris Candido, Gran Naniwa, & El Samurai. And what's wrong with him having dyed hair, shiny tights, and using a spinning elbow? -David
Guest MRFTW Report post Posted February 14, 2002 First match I saw him in was one with Makabe that happened around May/June of 2001, I forget which ones specifically but he blew atleast 2-3 moves in the match. The others i've seen him in were decent enough matches but he didn't do all that much to make them so. "And what's wrong with him having dyed hair," nothing really but it makes him look like a mexican version of Chris Candido "shiny tights," look stupid "and using a spinning elbow?" everyone has some move they hate, I hate that one.
