Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted June 2, 2002 The XX album is growing on me a lot, 'xeroxed' is pretty much crap and the whole order affects it a bit, but i really like the last few tracks. They seem quite versatile actually, with the tracks that stick to EITHER the straight-metal theme or the creepy piano stuff standing out. A lot of it's derivative from faith no more, but at least all the tracks sound different. They shouldn't be compared to slipknot at all.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 2, 2002 1. They're only compared to Slipknot because they have 8 members, 6 of which are in masks. 2. XX has 2 versions: the indy release version, which is priced around your average CD price ($14), and the Universal Records version, which is about $10. If the track "Episode 29" is techno instead of industrial metal, then it's the Universal Records version. Just to get those 2 points out of the way, this is easily one of my favorite all-time albums. Sure, it's a proverbial "best of" for Mushroomhead, taking songs from their previous 2 or 3 albums, and that's why the track listing is somewhat off, but all of the songs are, ya know...GOOD. Their style is so diverse, ranging from thrash metal ("Before I Die") to rapcore ("Bwomp") to even a trance-inducing piece of modern-chamber music ("Epiphany") that they have what it takes to remain whereas every other Johnny-come-lately nu-metal band will die in flames. Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2002 I'll give Mushroomhead the credit of being a much more musically accomplished band than Slipknot. They pull off things in their album that Slipknot coulnd't even dream of, and don't come off as a generic heavy band... like Slipknot. I'll also throw into the mix that Mushroomhead were around a lot longer than Slipknot, so if there was any ripping-off done, it was by Slipknot. That being said... I like both bands. Not much... but I like 'em.
