Guest Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 That's impossible for me to pick. Two of my favorites right there. Both have riveting and sometimes heart-wrenching stories, that it's just too much of a toss-up for me.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 FFVI. Chrono Trigger has two major flaws that holds it back. It is too easy, and too short. I would actually rank Chrono Trigger behind not only FFVI, but Xenogears as well.
Guest J*ingus Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 FFVI, it had a deeper story and better characters (except for Magus, gawd he was cool).
Guest KoR Fungus Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Final Fantasy VI. As amazing as Chrono Trigger is, it still can't quite compete with an RPG that's twice as long and has a better plot. My Top Five RPGs: 1. Final Fantasy VI 2. Final Fantasy VII 3. Chrono Trigger 4. Vagrant Story 5. Suikoden 2
Guest JaKyL25 Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 I'm going to agree with the majority here and say FFVI. Chrono Trigger's a great RPG, it just seems like kid stuff compared to FFVI. My top 10 RPGs: 1.) Final Fantasy VI 2.) Xenogears 3.) Suikoden 2 4.) Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete 5.) Chrono Cross 6.) Chrono Trigger 7.) Final Fantasy VII 8.) Suikoden 9.) Final Fantasy IV 10.) Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete
Guest The Man in Blak Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Personally, they're tied and they're in good company. ...but Chrono Trigger gets a slight edge because it had much more interesting gameplay, such as enemies that you could actually avoid and combination attacks. Whereas FFVI will dazzle you with the different character growth possibilities from Espers, Trigger gets you with its extremely simple and enjoyable system that makes it still one of the easiest RPGs to pick up and learn how to play. It's still a very tight choice, though. Both are about equal in terms of overall plot, but Final Fantasy VI's seems so much more grandiose and spectacular because it has more characters with deeper character depth. Both have phenomenal music and graphics for their time. Both have amazing character design that still trumps a lot of what is offered out there in today's next-gen RPG crop. Both have amazing replay value, due to Chrono's "New Game +" option and the fact that hardcore completists will likely never find everything in FFVI without a walkthrough. Both of them are just amazing works in different directions.
Guest Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Any game that ISN'T a Final Fantasy game can lick my balls. And I'm glad to see there's still people who recognize FF4 as one of the best.
Guest fazzle Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 I'll go with CT, best RPG of all time IMO. FF 3(fuck calling it 6, I don't live in Japan, and I played a game called Final Fantasy 3 ) is still in the top 5 though, easily, probably top 3.
Guest redbaron51 Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 one problem with Chrono Trigger is that it is too easy and short. FFVI is a great game as well...though i think chrono has a better story
