Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2002 does anyone have they live on dvd with roddy piper. I saw that shit on eBay for $70 and the auction didn;t end yet. WHAT THE FUCK? Can anyone explain, also are they going to re-release? Thanks --Rob
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 3, 2002 That usaully means the DVD became some sort of collectible. The first releases of Little Shop of Horrors and Re-Animater became $80(and up) DVDS on ebay because both were recalled because of content the DVD maker didn't have the rights to. I haven't heard anything like that about They Live yet.
Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2002 I have They Live on DVD. It was released by Image, in widescreen, with no special features. It cost about $40(Cdn) brand new, and that was a couple of years ago. I haven't seen it anywhere since. It's wierd, cuz a bunch of other Image DVD's ended up in bargain bins for like $10, including Prince Of Darkness, Ghost Story & Bordello of Blood. I guess they stopped making They Live DVD's after the initial release sold out.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted June 3, 2002 Didn't Universal release They Live?
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 3, 2002 I just hopped over to Amazon to check this out, and the movie is indeed out of print. That's nothing unusual. The unusual part is that they're charging anywhere from $90 to $180 American for secondhand copies. WTF?!
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 4, 2002 I hope this means a re-release is coming soon. Then again, there doesn't seem to be a re-release planned for Scarface, which faces the same deal... Image's releases are weak. They Live is a great movie, and they didn't even throw on a trailer, if I remember correctly. Yet, they still charge regular price for it... they did this for another "cult classic" dinosaur film as well, from the '60s... the name escapes me, but I would've bought it but they wanted $30 for it, and no special features for an 80-minute movie? Forget that!
Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted June 4, 2002 Roddy Piper and John Carpenter recorded a commentary track for the new release of They Live a couple of months ago. I know it's scheduled for a Region 2 Special Edition of sorts, but I don't know about Region 1.
Guest Report post Posted June 4, 2002 how can i find out if it's region 1 as well? --Rob

I know it's scheduled for a Region 2 Special Edition of sorts, but I don't know about Region 1. Sweet... thanks for the heads up Jay. All I can say is, they BETTER make it Region 1... why does Region 2 get all the good stuff? We still haven't seen any "Futurama" or widescreen "Angel" or Chopping Mall discs Stateside. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 7, 2002 I think the reason Region 2 gets some good stuff long before us has something to do with copyright laws. I don't think the laws are as strict over seas and it makes it easier to release some stuff. Now don't quote me on this, but i seem to remember reading that.
