Duggan vs. Alex Wright?

Hey, in SK's latest mailbag, he mentions something about how unprofessional Jim Duggan was when he refused to work with Alex Wright in 1999. I wasn't paying attention to WCW at that point, so could someone please describe what happened? Thanks.

So Alex gets the big push as the Columbine German Character Berlyn with great music and entrance and a new look. His first ppv opponent has to be paragon of anti USA - Hacksaw Duggan. Hack felt he was beneath selling or jobbing to Berlyn and it effectively killed the character. I think it could have got over too.. bastard duggan

This happened at Halloween Havoc  99. This also happened at Superbrawl 5 with Wright  and Paul Roma. I have that match on tape and it's so insanely funny. Roma totally no sells everything and  doesn't like Wright do jack shit.

so whats everybody's problem with Wright? He's not the worst in the world to no sell for ..ESPECIALLY if you are Hacksaw or Paul Friggin' Roma!!

At least he can take solace in the fact that the Tripster lay down for him (at Starrcade '94?).

 

And yeah, why did they all hate Wright? Sure, his "Das Wunderkind" gimmick was annoying as hell back when he first started, but he wasn't so bad and improved over the years.

HHH jobbed to him before he weas a anything, so I don't count it. Like when Akeem pinned Shawn Michaels at WM5, you can't say Akeem pinned a world champion cleanly because it was before Shawn's big boom era.

It should also be mentioned that Duggan was only out there because Buffy "Mr. Professional" Bagwell refused to do the job outright.

 

I'd also like to mention that it came back and bit FDuggan on the ass, because Russo (sorta) pushed Wright, and made Duggan the janitor
