Hakushi

Was Hakushi anything special during his WWF run? I'm not asking about his puro career (hence why I'm posting this here and not in the Foriegn board), just his U.S. one. I was watching Summerslam 95 this past weekend, and though he had some nice high flying moves, he stalled way too much. What's the word on him?

He wasn't really around very long to make much of an impact. This was a point in time when most of wrestlers' televised matches were against jobbers. Hell, did he even feud with anyone other than Bret Hart? Other than debuting the Space Flying Tiger Drop on WWF TV, he didn't really impress me that much.

Hakushi (aka Jinsei Shinzaki) was only around for about three months or so in the summer of 1993.  The only PPV matches he had were against Bret at an IYH and the 123 Kid at Summerslam.  He's very athletically talented, but has a serious case of Muta Disease, where he spends half the match just walking around or stalling in general.

That's incorrect.

Hakushi entered the WWF in late 1994, and stayed there until early 1996.  In addition to the 2 PPV matches you mentioned, Hakushi also wrestled at the 1995 Survivor Series, and the 1996 Royal Rumble.

Hakushi looked good in the WWF, but he wasn't used as a Jr. Heavyweight like he was in Michinoku Pro.  He wrestled more of a Heavyweight style with some athletic high flying moves thrown in.  Because of the WWF's limited roster of good talent at the time, there wasn't a whole lot of wrestlers that they could give Hakushi to bring out the best in him.

He had memorable matches with Bret Hart & the 1-2-3 Kid, but was soon after turned babyface and paired with Barry Horowitz.  Hakushi would leave the WWF in the early part of 1996 and return to wrestling in Japan.

Shows just how memorable his WWF run was (i.e., not very).

He had a wicked match against Bret for the title on a Raw (not sure of the year).  That is my only real memory of Hakushi

CORRECTION!

Ah hem...

Hakushi is the first person to debut the Space Flying Tiger Drop on North American Pay-Per-View. The Great Sasuke debuted it on RAW the night after Canadian Stampede. THAT was the first occurence of the move on North American TV.

I so desperately wanted to enjoy the Hakushi - 1-2-3 Kid match from Summerslam 95, but goddamn Shinzaki was just too fond of stalling. He reminds a lot of 2 Cold Scorpio.

Maybe I'm missing something here, BUT...

Canadian Stampede took place in 1999.

In order for Hakushi to have used the Space Flying Tiger Drop on TV, he would have had to have done it before he left the WWF (duh) in 1996.

Therefore, unless I'm overlooking something, Hakushi did it first in North America.

Unless you're just going by PPV and TV as different things, whch I think you are as I re-read your post...

Carry on then.

Didn't he perform the SFTD on that 1995 RAW match with Bret Hart? I seem to remember that it was on RAW, not on a PPV.

EDIT: Yes, I am right! Thank you, Herb Kunze.
