Anyone Have The New nWo Video?

Recommended Posts

Guest

I am not sure if its out yet but it may be. If it is does anyone have it? I am really thinking of getting it but I just want to make sure. If it shows alot of their WCW days then I am definetly getting it cause I never watched WCW back then when it was considered good of course, I always tuned in when it was bad so I could laugh at their stupidity.

You must buy this DVD. It's awesome. It's worth the 20 bucks. It has a SHIT load of WCW/WWF old footage of those guys and it actually focuses most on WCW. Get it now.

Can someone please explain to me why these are at all considered bonus matches? Who would anyone pay extra for this shit? I know the entire nWo angle was a phenominon and all, but why even bother showing the matches? I mean, good grief, next you're going to tell me that Sting/Hogan is on there.

Ok let me think.

I put up with the nWo when they were in WCW for 3+  years.

I saw Nash vs Goldberg live, and would like to not to have to relice that brutal 3 hours of my life.

Once is enough for me, but thank you Vince for at least offering.

I think the NWO can draw for a short period, but they have to be handled very cautiously. You have to admit for the ego, trying to resurrect, make the NWO work, and handle those three, is a big stroke. You have to let them dominate, feed Hogan to Austin or Rock, milk them again and let them rise, Hogan loses to the other big name, than gives a farewell job at WrestleMania. It's very tempting to go after.

This was basically made for someone who didn't watch WCW back during the nWo days...like myself. I had never watched WCW til 1998.

I think you also have to realise that a gimick only has so much longevity, and that the nWo had already reached its limit long ago. If WCW hadn't held onto the idea for so long, they might not have gone out of business. I think Vince was also very stupid to spend months saturating his audience with Jericho/Rock and Austin/Angle only to force the nWo on them and suddenly decide that "this is the way all of my main events are going to look like from now on", never wondering how the fans would react to it after becoming so accustomed to great wrestling matches in the main event. I mean, in WCW, the fans were already used to seeing Hogan, Savage, Luger, and Giant main eventing, so nothing could really be considered a step down from the work-rate perspective.

Cause it's better quality and for people like myself, I'm not gunna go out and pay 60 dollars on Amazon.com or whatever to get War Games 96 or whatever when I can get it on this DVD. The DVD is twice as long with this stuff as well. The main thing is quality.

Isn't there some footage of the "Kliq Farewell" from MSG as well?

Most importantly, does this dvd contain the nWo-horseman spoof they did?  That was some hilarious material.  To think, they used Konnan to dress up like Mongo...haha

That was so awesome.  So much better than "dX-as-The-Nation"

Konnan = Mongo

Syxx = Flair

Bagwell = Hennig

Nash = Arn

I don't think the DVD has it, though.

Sadly, they don't. I was hoping that was one of the extras. I'm just thankful I have it in video format on my dad's computer.

Couple of points:

1.  Basically the focus is all on the genesis of the group, from when Hall and Nash left for WCW untill just before Syxx debuted.  (Thankfully no footage was used of Hogan's plodding along for two years in WCW against the Dungeon of Doom) So the majority of the footage for the most part includes Ramon and Diesel shots (including Diesel beating Razor for the IC and the 9 second squash of Backlund at MSG) then goes right into the first apperances of Hall and Nash untill right before Fall Brawl 96.

The rest of the nWo in WCW's history is completly glossed over (so no Horsemen skits even though there is a shot of Hennig with the victorious nWo after he turned at War Games that year) by simply stating "the nwo expanded, but was bigger better?" and then right to their return to the WWF.

2.  I've seen transcripts and video footage of the Hogan turn speech at BAB many times but never noticed that Hogan actually says "This is the New World ORGANIZATION" at least once.  He did say New World Order a few times.  Makes you wonder if there were other names being floated around.

3.  The famous MSG clip was shown, actually two different shots were shown.  I think it was from the same show but it shows house footage of Razor being taunted by the fans, and of course the famous fuzzy footage that was used on WWF TV during one of DX's early promos.

4.  The bonus matches probably were desgined to single out the three men they were trying to focus the video around.  Therefore Nash going over Goldberg (Hows that for subliminal messages) fits over other and more important nWo related matches (Superbrawl 97, Hogan-Sting at Starrcade, Finger Poke of Doom match the next night, ect) If they wanted to do a comprehensive look at the nWo there would have been more matches on the bonus footage.

5.  Probably was the nWo's finest hour though as they never really recaptured that same level after they started to expand.  Granted I think the start of the nWo's (and WCW's) demise was with the screwjob finish at Starrcade 97 but they were trying to show the essence of the nWo and that was Hall, Nash and Hogan at the start.

6.  Kind of odd that this video, as well as Jakks figures, is released as if the trio was still together.  The video does end with the Hogan face turn at WM X-18 and Raw/Smackdown that week (Note, they NEVER mentioned X-Pac's previous involvement in the group) but its funny that within four months of their arrival in the WWF one guy is turned face and back to his roots, one guy injures his bicep and won't be back in the ring for several months, and the third guy is flat out fired.  Very bizzare, but thats life in the business.

Why would you want to see it to begin with? Aside from the historical angles that go along witht he matches, why would you want to see them? They're all horrible, horrible matches.

As for the Horsemen spoof, I have trouble laughing at it considering that Flair and Anderson didn't even give them approval to do it. I mean, if it's in good fun, I can enjoy it, but that skit was not, and actually did offend people, believe it or not. How would you feel if you were forced into retirement from an injury after years of sacrifice, and rewarded by having your fairwell speech spoofed by a bunch of assholes who didn't ask for your approval of doing so?

BretHart4Ever- is there any way you can put the video of the Horsemen spoof on Kazaa? I've heard so much about it and never got to see it, so I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Why would I want to buy a DVD staring 3 of the worst wrestlers in history?

Second how can they use goldberg footage without a lawsuit.

I mean I'm sure they own the footage, but legally I don't know if they can use it to make money with without goldbergs consent.

Joey Sytles sued wwf for using footage with his voice on it and so did Jesse Ventura. So why not Goldberg.
