Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Holy Shit! A 56 Year old man taking a backdrop like that outside the ring! I'd like to see Hogan, who is 7 years younger than Flair take a bump like that
Guest The Man in Blak Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Not that I'm complaining or anything, but how many chops have been used in this match? 40? 50?
Guest The Man in Blak Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 *points to left field* Finish, go back home and let 'em continue the match.
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Well in all fairness they're compensating for punches. Austin throws about 50-60 punches in one match it seems, so when you have chops that actually make contact and actually look and sound (and are) painful, then I have no problem.
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Great *** match, and would've been better without the fucking commerical break (what is it when that trend lately?) I still think they made a huge mistake by giving this away on free tv
Guest The Man in Blak Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I figured as much - I mean, they've got to transition between sequences somehow, and I'm not going to bitch if they do it with flesh-searing knife-edge chops. As it was, it was a solid match and a decent main event. Not anything above three snowflakes, but definitely a nice change from the lousy main events we were having before RVD/Eddy.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Great *** match, and would've been better without the fucking commerical break (what is it when that trend lately?) I still think they made a huge mistake by giving this away on free tv I also think they made a mistake by giving this match out on free TV instead of doing it earlier like they should have done with it being Austin vs. Flair at Judgment Day, not Flair and The Big Show vs. Austin in a Handicap match at Judgment Day. As for the commercial breaks between matches, I'm not sure, but I remember WCW doing this too. Scary, maybe WWE has officially BECOME WCW...
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 So now Flair becomes Austin's personal assistant poor bastard seems like Bischoff is booking as Flair over the last five years has been thrown in situations that will embarrass him. Wow Nash gets to grab onto HBK's coattails again.
Guest godthedog Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 good raw overall, with some great angles & mediocre wrestling. opening segment was KILLER, austin & flair were feeling it and the sparks were flying. i marked out like a little bitch. taker/dreamer was totally unnecessary, proving that they don't have a clue what to do with either guy on this show. booker t looks like the hardest-working guy on raw right now, & the fans are eating it up. god bless him. the tag match was pretty good. i'd probably think it was better if my friend hadn't pointed out that lesnar did the shoulder thrusts in the corner 3 or 4 times in the match. hbk's comeback SHOCKED THE HELL OUT OF ME. half of us were jumping around the room. but why didn't they let him talk? austin/flair was disappointing to me. flair just doesn't seem to have the wind to do a good match anymore (with the exception of wrestlemania), & it never gelled between these 2. they didn't seem to know what to do, so they kept doing chops & back body drops.
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Shawn Michaels in the nWo? *Click* There goes my TV, off for the night. Congratulations, WWF, after so many weeks of putting up with your shitty programming, you FINALLY found something to make me boycott you. You brought THAT asshole back. Now there's a TRUE Smart Mark!!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 -Generally I am not an HBK fan, however for a brief period of time, during his 'early-mid' years (pre-boyhood dream) as HBK I was a fan. And when he won the 95 RR I jived around the living room of my buddy's house leg stretched and bicepts flexed... I tapped that period today. Putting it into perspective, it's not that great, but I still marked out for the jumping high five. I takes what I gets. -Why does the Wwf find the need for pee? Is this like the 3rd time in a year inwhich they used the stuff for humour? Was it EVER funny? And they DON'T advertise to 7 year olds? -Benoit seemed MUCHO better on the stick tonight. -Taker vs. Dreamer was pointless: did anyone believe that was real puke? Of course not. Not even with our suspension of disbelief would we buy that crap. However the Jeff Hardy run-in was good, sort of adds another layer to his somewhat layerless personae. -Ok, so they are going with the Semi's, then Finals at KOTR. FUCK YOU WWF! They don't have the balls to go 3 levels. -From the very beginning with the police surrounding the ring, to the owners stooge getting beat up and humiliated, to the worked contract, to the loophole, to the finish, this was cut and paste Austin/Mcmahon. They BETTER be going somewhere OTHER THAN Austin/Mcmahon with this! Have Benoit beat Austin, PUH LEEZE! Can't Austin LOSE? -Bradshaw ripping off Hansen. HOOOOUUUUH! (yeah, I tried many other spellings of this...whoooooo and hooooo were already taken...bah well) It was good, if you are going to rip off something, might as well be the bullhorns. Now all he needs to do is whip the fans with the bullrope. Yes...
Guest Army Eye Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I like HBK joining the NWO as an idea, but couldn't they have done it when the NWO was uh.. good? They're about as feared as the Vincent/Scott Norton/Stevie Ray B-team right now. I guess if they either turn them into a face stable, or have HBK turn on them, then maybe they can salvage something out of this.
Guest Risk Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I would like, for once, to see the owner beat the wrestler in the blowoff feud. The magic of Austin vs. McMahon is that you thought Austin was the underdog, now no one expects him to lose. Heh, maybe Bradshaw will go back to being Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 DUDE, Justin 'Hawk' Bradshaw was the surliest motherfucker in all 1996 Wwf. It was just that damned branding Iron that done him wrong. I say that the Wwf just have bradshaw start KICKIN! and LARIAT'N! all the lil guys in the Wwf! ... Oh wait *checks Raw*... And um, COMIN DOWN WITH A LEATHER VEST! BITCHES!
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Great *** match, and would've been better without the fucking commerical break (what is it when that trend lately?) I still think they made a huge mistake by giving this away on free tv They take commercial breaks during matches due to the length of the match.
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Raw Thoughts: HBK coming back, was shocking. It gave me goosebumps. When I get goosebumps watching wrestling, that's a good thing. I don't mind him joining the nWo, because I still think that it can work. The Undertaker Vs. Tommy Dreamer match made me mad. Not because of the puke & Jeff Hardy run-in but because Jim Ross made it a point to say that Tommy Dreamer never tapped out in his eight years in ECW, and he just tapped out to the Undertaker. Tommy Dreamer is over. I don't mean heat wise, I mean career wise. I didn't mind the women's match this week as much as I have in the past, mainly because Trish actually showed ass this week. Wanking material. Rvd & Bubba Vs BROCK~!! & Eddy. The Latino Heat gimmick pisses me off. I can't stand Bubba when he isn't without D-Von, no matter how good he gets, and I don't think Brock should have a Goldberg gimmick. I think you can form a conclusion to my opinion on this match. Flair/Austin, great.. seen it before. Was there anything else? Oh yeah, Booker T. I can't talk about him though, because when I said that he should be champ, I got clowned on, so fuck it.
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I am in shock I am in awe The greatest Wrestler that should have been is back. Now I dont have to rely on Royal Rumble '98 To get my HBK fix anymore
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 MY GOD IS BACK~! (no not Bret, the other God) oh and the Hardy's promo: Jeff used Big words so that means one thing: Raven's gotten to him. THE FLOCK BAYBEE. nWo flair HBK Flock it's the mid 90's ALL OVER AGAIN~!
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Watch it RicFlairGlory, we don't know if this is just a return to tv or a return in ring as well.
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I don't think Brock should have a Goldberg gimmick. I think they've pretty much sucked all the Goldberg out of him at this point, what with his selling and the slow, but sure way he's been putting ACTUAL wrestling moves into his matches.
Guest Renegade Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 HBK is back, i was shocked......but.....meh..... I guess i can kiss that Booker push goodbye then.
Guest Human Fly Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 - Did anyone else see Brock almost kill RVD with the whip into the corner? I'm not sure what happend but it looked like RVD almost broke his neck. - HBK is back, I think he'll wrestle some, but who knows. I feel it would be a mistake to have him come back and not wrestle. - Pretty good main event, Flair was the king of eye pokes. The only reason this wasn't on ppv is that the WWF wants ratings. - Is Eddie G. still feuding with RVD? IS Brock feuding with Bubba or RVD? - At least they're trying to shake up stuff with the Hardys. Who knows maybe HHH will be unable to compete at KOTR and it will be Jeff Hardy v. Undertaker (Or we'll just get a squash next week on Raw, I'll let you guess which is more likely).
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 GOOD THINGS The tag match. I'm starting to like Bubba, although he's still "dancing-est", as JR would say. Brock rules, RVD rules, Eddie rules, so there you go. A good long match with lots of action. Booker - his retarded promos are pretty much the only consistently good thing about raw. Too bad he's in the NWO. Goldust doing the bronco buster. Speaks for itself. HBK coming back. good, maybe he won't suck. Too bad he's in the NWO. The Bradshaw match was so quick that after i changed the channel following the Flair-Austin promo, it was already over by the time i flipped back. BAD THINGS Booker T and HBK, while being major badasses, are stuck in the absolutly worthless NWO. Clearly, they can't both turn face, so one of those guys will be stuck with Pac, Show, and Nash, while deserving much better. Remember when Big Show was champ, and he fought midcarders like Albert and Viscera, while other guys were in the main event? I'm lookin at you, Taker. Both of the KOTR matches sucked. probably because the bookers just thought of them yesterday. Apparently that "Women's wrestling" thing was just a phase. HHH has a 140% chance of winning the title. We will see Taker vs. Jeff Hardy next week. We will be subjected to "zany" skits featuring Flair cleaning up after Austin. THINGS THAT WERE JUST KIND OF THERE everything I didn't mention.
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Great *** match, and would've been better without the fucking commerical break (what is it when that trend lately?) I still think they made a huge mistake by giving this away on free tv They take commercial breaks during matches due to the length of the match. The RVD/Eddy ladder match was the first commerical break during a match that I can remember in a long long LONG time. They never used to do that in the final segment of RAW. It would always just go from 10:50 (or 10:55) until 11:10 or whatever the over-run was. The "commercial in the middle of a match" tactic was always an old WCW staple, however. I guess they figure it builds anticipation, when in all actuality, it's just annoying. Who the hell takes a commercial break at 10:58?!?!
Guest papacita Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 The commercial break thing...it only builds suspense when they do it at the right time. I can remember back in the day when Marty Jannetty beat HBK for the I-C Title and I was jumping for joy when they went to commercial break...only to have them come back and say that Michaels' foot was on the rope, so the match continued. I was pissed, but in a good, markish sort of way. That was good... And speaking of HBK...OH MY GOD!!!!!!! HE'S BAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **falls out of chair, starts rolling around on the ground chanting "HBK! HBK! HBK!!...realizes how ridiculous he looks, and stops** Sorry. Anyway, I've got mixed feelings about tonight's Raw. Opening segment was hot (minus the piss), but in the middle, the show kinda stalled for me. I'm not sure what it was, but there were just too many skits and not enough action. As for the Lingerie match...don't get me wrong, I love Trish. In fact, when Chyna and I get married in 5 years, I might even consider letting her be the "other woman"...but cheap T&A is just played out as far as I'm concerned. It seems to be beneath Trish right now, and I don't get the point of that angle with Molly that Ross was alluding to after the match. As for Booker T...he's gold, as usual. Hardcore match...what the hell happened to the entrances??? And TELL ME they're not going into another one of those "Most dominating Hardcore Champion ever" runs! TELL ME they're not! Please! Taker and Tommy Dreamer...those mixed feelings still running here. As much as all of you EVIL, EVIL people hate on the Dead Man...I'm actually feeling this title reign. I like seeing the Champion mix it up with mid card guys like Dreamer, Jeffrey, Randy Orton and the other one. You know...what's his face...YEAH! That's him. But being the longtime ECW mark that I am...it was a little disappointing seeing Tommy lose like that. I mean...don't get me wrong, in all the years I've watched ECW I can only recall seeing him win maybe...5 matches, so I've got no problem with Tommy losing, but showing fear (to a certain extent) and tapping out as quick as he did??? And JR makes it worse with his "he never tapped in ECW" remark. It kinda made Big Tom look like a has been. And then the MARK OUT MOMENT OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! HBK, my all time favorite wrestler is back...but to be perfectly honest, that segment was a bit of a letdown. I mean...first Nash starts off with that half assed intro (was he drunk?!). Then HBK comes back...and the Old 2 Dudes with Attitudes poses had my marking my ass off...but then the way they cut away from him...it was something about that that didn't sit well with me. But it's HBK, so I won't complain. And finally...Flair and Austin. If this was 1994, I would've marked the fuck out for this match. Unfortunately, it's 2002. The match was pretty good though. Sitting there watching the match, I actually said "Gee, I like the psychology here". Oh God, you damn smarks are starting to rub off on me!! ICK!!!!! My complaints with the match: 1) How is it that the ref missed Eddie's run-in when he was DIRECTLY FACING THE TITAN TRON?????????? 2) Late in the match..."Ric Flair responds with a right hand"...**shakes head in disappointment**. And finally...this whole "Flair as Austin's assistant" thing...I'm not feeling that angle at all. Not at all. Overall, I liked the show, but for some reason, there were a bunch of bad things that just jumped out at me. And HBK IS BACK!!!!!! Last night's Raw was without a shadow of a doubt an ASS-BUSTER! Quote me on that now!
Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Pfft! Of COURSE Benoit won't be at Raw. He's a S!D! Wrestler, and S!D! wrestlers don't go on Raw, except for HHH because he's INTENSE~! and can get away with that kind of stuff
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 -Word around WWE is that Chris Benoit will now be a full-time RAW wrestler, despite being drafted by Smackdown. -credit 411wrestling
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 One of the best moments for me was when that sign guy in the front row had an Undertaker sign (fat man walking?) and 'Taker just took it from him and threw it away. Anyone else notice that?
Guest Sakura Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 It kinda made Big Tom look like a has been. Tommy IS a has been.
Guest LooseCannon Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 It kinda made Big Tom look like a has been. Tommy IS a has been. Tommy is NOT a has been. He's a never was.
