XVID avi file to a standard media player file

Really hoping someone can help. I have a video that is in an avi file that needs the XVID codec. Is there anyway I can convert this file so that is plays on the stanard windows media set up. The reason I ask is that I have a video clip that I need to show at work but it wont run without the codec (and loading the codec at work is not an option).

 

If anyone has a free and easy to use program they can direct me too I would be forever grateful.

if you don't have the codec installed you won't be able to convert it to another format.
