Immediately upon making that list, I can say that I'll always like those songs, but only the first one will be a permanent fixture on all subsequent lists. I already regret a couple of things. I'd replace something with "Station to Station."

Funnily enough, "Crimson and Clover" was the most likely of my list to actually end up on a permanent all time favorites list, were I ever to make one.

Dopesmoker seems unfair, though...

I agree with Milky on the "impossible task" front but I'll give it a shot.

1.Climbing - Meat Puppets

2.What Katie Did - The Libertines

3.Debaser - Pixies

4.Naomi - Neutral Milk Hotel

5.Is This It - The Strokes

6.Trigger Cut/Wounded Kite at :17 - Pavement

7.Y-Control - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

8.Wasted and Ready - Radish (though I can't really tell the difference when Ben Kweller does it himself)

9.Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus

10.Government Center - Modern Lovers

This list is extremely tentative.

Climbing, What Katie Did, Debaser and Is This It are all still top 10 favorites. Everything else probably drops, except for MAYBE Trigger Cut, but I think I like Filmore Jive better. History Lesson Part II by Minutemen belongs on that list for sure, and Pop Songs Your New Boyfriend's Too Stupid To Know About by Tullycraft probably lands in the top 10 as well. Interesting how no one is ever really satisfied with lists like these.

I've loved it since the first time I heard it (downloaded as a mislabeled Velvet Underground song).

And, did you know Dee Dee Ramone did a fairly straightforward cover of "Cathy's Clown"? Dee Dee was so awesome... definitely one of my favorite figures in music and I should have mentioned him in the favorite musicians thread.

My list when it was last posted, around a year ago:

1) Johnny Under - ClarkNova

2) Gimme Shelter - The Stones

3) Heaven is a Better Place - The Hip

4) No Excuses - Alice in Chains

5) Trampled Underfoot - Led Zeppelin

6) Stinkfist - Tool

7) Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd

8) Far Behind - Candlebox

9) Fine Again - Seether

10) Eulogy - Tool

Now - I'd say:

10) Renegades of Funk - Rage

9) Fine Again - Seether

8) Welcome Burden - Disturbed

7) Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd

6) Grace, Too - The Hip

5) No Excuses - Alice in Chains

4) YYZ - Rush

3) Heaven is a Better Place - The Hip

2) Johnny Under - Clarknova

1) Gimme Shelter - The Stones

Rotate in Trampled Underfoot still, along with When The Levee Breaks. Far Behind is definitely off the list. Authority Zero's Mexican Radio, Tool's Stinkfist, Eulogy, and The Pot (I know, Corey) could all make the Top Ten at any given point as well.
