Developed by Ubisoft's award-winning Montreal studio and scheduled to hit retail shelves worldwide in 2007, the game will be offered for home and portable consoles, as well as PCs.

"We are delighted to work with Bryan Burk and the entire Lost' creative team and with Touchstone Television," said Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft. "That they have chosen us for the adaptation of the cult series Lost' is the best homage that a producer can make to the creativity of Ubisoft."

"With the ability to tell new interactive stories within the Lost' universe, we're giddy to be developing a game that, once completed, will be as engaging and fun to play as it is to create."

J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof co-created "Lost" and also serve as executive producers, along with Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse. "Lost," which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii, is from Touchstone Television.

About "Lost"

After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a seemingly deserted Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers have become reluctant heroes who must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. Danger and mystery loom behind every corner on the island, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets.

"Lost" stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko, Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Emilie de RavinCaire, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie, Terry O'Quinn as Locke, Harold Perrineau as Michael, Michelle Rodriguez as Ana Lucia and Cynthia Watros as Libby.

"Lost" is the fastest-selling TV series in Buena Vista International Television's (BVITV) history, having been licensed in over 210 territories worldwide. Across countries such as Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, the UK and Russia, "Lost" has consistently been No. 1 in its time slot. In the UK, "Lost" delivered Channel 4's biggest-ever audience for a U.S. series launch, and on Seven Australia it was consistently one of the top two series on the network and held the second-biggest premiere in Australia's television history. The series has been a Top 3 U.S. series on free TV channels in every international territory it has aired.

It would never happen, but an X-Men Legends engine would be hilarious for this game. Non-stop hordes of Others and Black Smoke as you smash hatch-walls and throw shrubs around the environment in-between upgrading yo' skillz. :P

Point and click a la Myst and Shadowgate, but I'd like to be able to free-roam in a real-time environment to balance it all out.

The lower ratings will probably prevent it now. The time to capitalize on something like this would've been immediately after Season 1 ended. Or at least some time into Season 2.

doing a Lost video game isn't like doing a 24 video game where you can have a self-contained video game plot. Either the plot of the video game would veer off from the plot of the show, and people would complain that it's too different, or it would coincide with the plot of the show, and people would complain about plot points being spoiled. Or, they could just invent characters to be on the island, but people would complain that you were just controlling some no-name crash survivor. Once you get past "Hey, they're making a Lost video game" it doesn't sound like too good of an idea.

Lost Discovers Release Date

The first details are starting to emerge on the television tie-in.

by Daemon Hatfield

July 26, 2007 - Today at ComicCon Ubisoft announced it will ship its game based on the TV series Lost in the first quarter of 2008. The publisher also revealed the game will be found on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. While trying to track down details on the title has been as perplexing as watching the show, we should know more about it later today -- Ubisoft is showing the first trailer for the Lost videogame between 5pm and 6pm PDT at ComicCon this evening.

"Ubisoft has worked closely with ABC Studios and the show's producers to create a compelling storyline that has the same mystery, adventure, and intensity fans of the show have come to expect from the Lost brand," said Helene Juguet, senior director of marketing for Ubisoft.

"The sense of adventure and suspense that we strive for in the show is also captured in the Lost videogame," said Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, executive producers of the Lost television series. "Ubisoft has done a fantastic job and come up with a game that is visually amazing and imaginative both on its own and as an extension of the world of the show."

As a teaser to the trailer, Ubisoft disclosed a few tidbits on what we can expect from the Lost game. Players take on the role of one of the passengers who survived the crash of Oceanic flight 815. It sounds like the main character will be someone new, and not one of the show's lead actors. Gameplay will unfold much like the show -- you'll have to try and unravel the mysteries of the island while dealing with unsettled business in your past. There will be familiar environments to explore and recognizable characters to interact with. Ubisoft says we'll even get to battle the "smoke monster."

I envision this game having lots of puzzles that you have to solve.. but you don't know why you're solving them.. but before you can finish solving one puzzle, you're given another one to solve and then they forget about the previous one. Just like on TV! :P

Well, the game is horribly short. Took me less than 5 hours to get all 1000 achievement points. You make absolutely NO choices, the game is completely linear. at least 75% of the game is walking through the woods and talking to horrible replacement voice actors. There is almost no gameplay, it's just an interactive story. A story where all the people are just caricatures of themselves. Just MINUTES after you crash, Michael is screaming around for WAAAAAAAALLLLLLLT! WHERE'S MAH BOY?! WAAAAAAALT!, Hurley is talking about being cursed, etc.

Jack, Locke, and Kate are the ONLY characters in this game that serve any kind of purpose. Sawyer? is a fucking SHOPKEEPER. Charlie? is the REPLACEMENT SHOPKEEPER for when Sawyer's not there. I shit you not, that's the ONLY thing they do in this game.

Not to mention the fact that even with the game being as short as it is, about 10-15 minutes of that is recycled footage from earlier in the game. They split the game up into "episodes" and at the beginning of each episode, you get an unskippable "previouslies" segment.

GEE THANKS UBISOFT! THAT EPISODE ONLY TOOK ME 15 MINUTES TO BEAT! I REMEMBER WHAT *JUST FUCKING HAPPENED!*

Sounds like a huge waste.

here's how I would have done it. Make the whole island traversable, and set the game up in a GTA/Bully/MMO type style, where you have quests and tasks to do (along with some over-arching storyline). Make it sandbox play... hell how about adding an online component and making it a mini-MMO (up to 40 people on a server, that sort of thing, create your own "survivor of the crash"), essentially never ending, add minigames, add the open ability to hunt any animal you see. Add factions in camp, reputation points, do favors and tasks for different people to join their side. Hell a huge part of the game could be "mapping" the island (thus forcing you to explore the whole island), try and get that sense of wonder and awe to the whole island. All it requires a little creativity and you could do fun things. Almost an "Oblivion" style of gameplay.

Please don't buy, bought it finished it, took it back to the store where I worked and pretty much tried to give it away to customers. Awful awful awful game, I'd say it was worse then the Kane & Lynch. Next time the Ubisoft rep comes into the shop, he's getting a verbal beat down.

The voice replacement actors aren't even close to the voices they're trying to pull off, the main characters movements are chunky and clumsy. The flashbacks are pretty much almost pointless, apart from the achievement points you unlock. Very poor all round. So much potential so little achieved.

EA's Sims2 Castaway is more fun then this - and strangely more like LOST.
