Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 4, 2002 Check this out... is this for real? I've never seen any of the "Guinea Pig" shows, but from what I've read, I'm a bit shocked and startled to see that they are available in a new uncut, remastered, limited edition boxset. Has anyone seen any of these before? I'll admit, I'd be tempted to pick up the set myself if it weren't for the hefty price tag... you think these'll be bootlegged/pirated on DVD, since they're a limited edition? Yes, I realize my expressing interest in seeing them contradicts the rest of my post about how awful it is they're on DVD at all... anyway, any thoughts? Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 4, 2002 Well it's a Japanese release and they will release anything so it isn't that much of a shock. It's region 0 so i think it can be played on any DVD player but North America can't watch PAL videos which it says these are.

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Never heard of it, what's it about? They're VERY well done (I don't mean tasteful, I mean technical masterpieces, though unfortunately done for really sick cinema) snuff film pieces for Japanese TV. They're so realistic, in fact, that several years ago Charlie Sheen called for federal investigation into the first film's production because he thought it was real. Here's a review for the first two in the series, with enough of a "plot description": Two absolutely stupid Japanese films which should not be watched let alone purchased. The un-translated trash is unbelievably unwatchable. The first titled Devils Experiment has a young lady who we see at the beginning hanging up in a net before being abducted by a bunch of young fucks to be endlessy tortured and killed. Theres no dialogue, the music is shit and some scenes make you sick like when they spin her around in the chair. before each atrocity is committed there is a Japanese symbol which introduces each scene. We witness the bastards slapping the girl endlessly with a counter keeping the score of how many times shes been hit, kicking her around on the floor, a pair of pliers nab her arm and twist breaking blood vessels and veins the same is done to her knuckle which is pinched so hard that the bone is exposed. They spin her around in a chair to disinorientate her with a counter keeping the number of how many times shes been spinned around. They fill her mouth full of booze, pull her finger nails out with pliers, put on a set of ear phones blasting ear drum shattering noise which the hours are counted how long they are on for. It gets so bad that she starts foaming and spitting liquid from her mouth. The temperature is shown of hot oil poured on her arms, she has animal guts thrown on her, maggots are poured on the burns in close up detail as they eat the dead flesh. her hands are beat with a hammer until finally a needle is pushed slowly through her temple into her eyeball which is a very nasty scene because its shown in close up and the reaction of the eye is chilling. An unnecessary excursion into brutal violence that sic twisted individuals will drool and jerk off to. The sequal is not as brutal but it is still a senseless film with nothing to appreciate. In horror films you can appreciate the effects or the film for its particular qualities but this has no redeeming qualities at all and its not enjoyable to watch, this is just sick. Theres no story or plot its all just one big dissection, eviscration and amputation. A young girl is kidnapped by a retarded looking asshole in bad need of dental work. The girl is drugged and then dissected with sadistic glee. lets not forget the opening where the jerk-off cuts the head of a chicken off to begin the sick ceremony. The young ladies hands are slowly sliced off at the wrist with a switch blade and when are removed they clench into fists. her arms are cut off slowly and the bone joint must be chisled. Some sort of hand saw is used to slowly cut through the leg bone you can hear the crunching and tearing as it eventually gives. The twisted individual is drooling throughout all of the cutting. He then eviscrates the body and removes all of the entrails which he puts back in again. The final touch is her decapitatin, the freak then sucks one of her eyeballs to celebrate. Throughout this the maniac gives weird speeches in his own tongue and turns on different colors of a lamp while doing the deeds, I don't know what he says but who gives a shit. The crazy bastard then chants a really corny sounding song while the rest of his atrocites in his lair are shown fully. Utter Tasteless shit!
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Here's a review of another one of the "Guinea Pig" shows from the same site I quoted the last review from: GUINEA PIG: MERMAID IN THE MANHOLE : (Japan) I must state that this is the grossest film I have ever seen. Sure it's not as brutal as the first two but it's sicker in a different kind of way. Again like all the Guinea Pigs there is no translation to the language so all that remains is what you see happening on the screen. An artist who is obviously frustrated with his work goes down into the sewers for some reason unbeknownst to me and discovers a mermaid there. He takes her home. He gets a bathtub which he puts her in. She quickly starts to develop these big sores on her lower torso which look disgusting to say the least. Soon her whole body is being consumed by this infection and in close up we see the blisters, boils and sores burst open and leak fluid. The artist cuts some of her wounds to get fluid for his paintings so he leaves jars for the slime to drip in. Soon she (the mermaid) is covered completely in sores and in close up detail we see worms starting to crawl in them. The mermaid's wounds start to get infested by worms and they begin falling out of the wounds. The artist hauls out a couple in close up and more start squirting out. Soon the mermaid heaves up loads of worms and her guts eventually fall out of her stomach in a nice neat pile. The artist goes crazy and hacks her up into bloody chunks after completing his masterpiece. Everything in this is shown in close up and nothing is spared. I watched this with Violent Maniac of Violent Maniacs Cage while we ate homemade macaroni and cheese. Mmmmmmmmmmm good! I can't recommend this but if your into these films you shouldn't be without this one. The most vile effects work I have ever seen, stuff Tom Savini couldn't pull off if he tried. Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Sounds like they have nothing redeeming about them at all. I remember John Douglas talking about real-life recordings that some serial killers made of their victims that sounded like this. Those descriptions made these pieces of shit sound SO bad that I want to find the assholes who made them and beat the crap out of them.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Is this shit real, or is it staged? People always say that snuff films are urban legends.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Well i'm assuming they are staged seeing as how Mermaids don't exist and if they did they wouldn't be found in a sewer. But seriously i'm positive that they aren't real. The Japanese like some fucked up stuff i mean just look at their porn so this isn't that abnormal. You know it's funny the Japanese are like some of the best behaved people and they have all kind of fucked up shit like this. North America on the other hand have some of the worst behaving people in the world and we can barely say bitch on tv and anything remotely fucked up is treated like the plague. This is the main reason why i laugh so hard at these politicians and bible thumpers screaming that violence and sex on tv and in movies is what our problem is. I've heard about these before and i've always wanted to see them just to know what the big deal is. Hell if nothing else i'd enjoy it for the make up fx. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted June 5, 2002 I didn't even read the mermaids one. That first description was enough to make me stop reading. Ugh.

Realistic enough to fool Charlie Sheen, perhaps, but not real (the behind the scenes bonus DVD included in the set is a testament to that, and legend has it that program was created specifically to prove to Japanese and U.S. investigators that the events were staged). As for them being utterly pointless and a disgrace to cinema, I totally agree. Their purpose seems to have only been to use FX to sicken people, and the fact that it still sickens is indeed interesting, but in the end it's just sickening, not redeeming by any means, and probably makes you feel dirty knowing that you watched it. If there is ever a time when the FX become outdated, it will be instantly forgotten, save for the few "old school gore hounds" who will cling to it like today's "old school gore hounds" cling to fare like The Evil Dead. As for the culture differences between Japan and the U.S., it's definitely true and definitely odd (of course its probably only odd to me because I'm an American). While most Americans probably think of Japan as a cutesy country because of its association with Hello Kitty and Pokemon, Japan's dark side is probably the darkest in the entire world (and I don't mean that as an insult or racial comment in any way, but given that shows like this were not only produced but SHOWN ON TV in Japan, and given their extremest of extreme disgusting pornography, it's a fact). If there ever was a real snuff film (which I hope in all my heart there never has and never will be), if it didn't originate from Japan, it would certainly be heavily distributed there. Yet at the same time, they have strict pornography laws that censor women's genitalia (of course that doesn't stop the majority of Japanese porn, and perhaps the source of all its nastiness, since they had to look for other things to do). A strange contrast...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 7, 2002 And yeah of course Japan has stricter laws and all but it goes a long way to proving that stuff on tv, in movies or in music doesn't turn people into blood thisty monsters. Well hell most movies are basically pointless so eh whatever. Some like pointless movies with dick and shit jokes and some happen to like pointless gore movies that aim to sicken the viewers...same difference so who cares. By the way...Japanese porn scenes with vomit rule...in a totally disgusting sort of way.
