Why is everyone assuming HBK Can't Wrestle?

Ummm....am I the only one who remembers that Shawn has been training for over a year to make an in-ring return? Am I the only one who read the interview he did in the late WOW magazine (RIP) last year?

 

Shawn has been training for this return for over a year. He would not be back if he could not wrestle on a semi-full-time basis, which is what he basically said during the interview (he can't do a match every week but he can work matches about once a month- so he can work PPVs).

 

And about his ring skills- hello? Have you people ever SEEN any of his matches? Are we talking about the same Shawn Micheals here? The one that could carry virtually anyone to a **** match? Possiably the only person to get great matches out of people like Kevin Nash and Sid? Sure, he won't be back at that level, but HALF that level is still better than most of the WWF roster. So, don't assume HBK can't wrestle: I think it's very, very likely that he is back to wrestle, not to talk.

shawn can probably wrestle now.  But the quality of his wrestling probably will not be on par with his past work.

Just a note:  Shawn bumped like a motherfucker in those 'carry-jobs', I seriously doubt he will be anything more than 10% of what he was.

Yeah, I'd like to see some of those allegedly "great" matches he had with Sid.  Because what I saw was a **3/4 match at Survivor Series '96 and a ** match at Royal Rumble '97.

He can wrestle and he has wrestled since he retired from the WWF. He wrestled Venom (Paul Diamond under a mask) in his old Texas based indie TWA. I believe it was an angle that involved control of the company.

Sure, he won't be back at that level, but HALF that level is still better than most of the WWF roster.

 

I think your confusing him with Benoit. Benoit at 50% is better than most of the roster. HBK at 50%(he's probably less than that) is only better than the dead weight.

of course it wont be on par with his past work, but half of that level is still head and shoulders above half the roster.  Shawn Michaels has given enough entertainment to everyone on this board, to be given the benefit of the doubt.  Hell Flairs work is still entertaining and he isnt near his prime, so Michaels will be the same at the very least.

And if HBK can't work now, well they can always put a Bradshaw match before an HBK match and fool fans that HBK can still work.

Michaels at 50% being better than half the roster is more telling of the WWF's workers, than Michaels' wrestling ability.

I am assuming he cant cause I saw the pain he was in at WM14.

 

Maybe he can have a match or two, but I'm willing to be he wants to save it to headline wrestlemanina...not that he'd hog the spotlight or anything...HAHAHAHA.

 

Also that 5 years of ring rust, 5 matches in the last 5 years doesn't constitue being ready for a  return.

did you see that match?  it was a mess; not even comparable to a standard shawn michaels match.  shawn even admitted that he was only doing it because it followed the logic of the storyline, & he could get away with "wrestling like hulk hogan" in his hometown.

Yeah, his match against Venom sucked, but I think he has a couple more good matches in him.  He has been training for this for a while now, so I would at least give him a chance before counting him out.

I was there at that match live and it was embarassing to see this "icon" make an ass of himself. I was happy HBK didn't decide to wrestle after that because if he did, he'd just embarass himself even more! Now, he's back and any fond memories you have of HBK will disappear once you see how poor his matches will be.
