Also, it seems like the remake of "Pulse" will be in September instead, while Guillermo ("Hellboy", "The Devil's Backbone") del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth" is being moved to December. Oh, and "Hostel 2" has a date for January '07. -As far as remakes go, it seems like Dario Argento's "Suspiria" will be re-made by...the Japanese, as an Anime. -Finally, get ready for the Italian Masters of Horror. No, it has nothing to do with the TV show "Masters of Horror". Instead, they are four new horror movies, three from veterens, and one from a newcomer. Here's the list of movies, their directors, and their plots. ."Horror Baby" by Umberto ("Cannibal Ferox","Nightmare City") Lenzi, tells the tale of a teenage paraplegic tenn girl who goes on a murder spree after seeing people having sex from her window. ."Murder House" by Lamberto ("Demons","A Blade in the Dark") Bava, is a giallo style film set at a musicians villa. ."The Corners of Night" by Sergio ("Torso", "The Case of the Scorpian's Tail") Martino focuses on a girl who moves into her deceased grandmothers house, were strange event's take place. ."Brotherhood" by newcomer Nicola Rondolino, deals with three boys who are kidnapped and murdered by a child sex ring, only to come back as ghosts for revenge. Sure, "Wolf Creek" got decently promoted and such, yet other movies ("Below" and most recently "Feast") are pretty much picked up, then largely ignored by the company. I imagine it's only Midnight Showings since it's not very good and was supposed to come out a year or so ago. I dont think it has shit to an opinion that its either "good or not good" as far as release goes. I've heard more positive reviews about it to be honest. The problem has been that this film has been shelved for so long because of the Weinstein/Dimension/Miramax shit, which is unforunate. Basically most of the people who helmed this film now have gone on to seperate from the Weinsteins, even though the Weinsteins were the major backers/supported of this project. In any regard, its a damn shame as I followed PG3 and it sounded like this was actually not a bad movie at all when all was said and done. The ball was definately dropped, as tying it into the Project Greenlight series should have given this film at least some buzz, but now its all but fucked. With that said, if they can get a cult following from the midnight showings, maybe there is potential for a more wide release. If not, get the fucking thing on DVD already! As far as "Italian Masters of Horror" is concerned, I'm glad to see new horror movies in Italy, but two of the directors probably aren't the best choices. I've seen "Nighmare City" and "Cannibal Ferox", and there fun in a so-bad-they're good way. Lamberto Bava is the son of the late great Mario Bava, and while I enjoyed "Demons" (though it makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever), some of his other movies (in particular "Devil Fish", which showed on MST3K) are pretty bad. I've never seen any of Martino's films, but I've heard good things. Also, there's the fact that Lenzi and Martino haven't done horror movies in a long time, though Bava most recently has been.
