Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 6, 2002 I wish that whoever makes radio commercials would realize one thing. The commercial is only on because I am too lazy to switch stations...all I ask of the commercials is to be as least annoying as possible, but they can't pull it off... Every one of this things just use annoying voice actors at lame attempts to be cute and funny...and they come off like jackasses. Just make the commercials as short and don't try and be funny...cause you're not. This rant went nowhere...but I'm really tired and could care less.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 6, 2002 local commercials are so bad big business commercials by beer companies are humorous, especially the "Hey Louie" budweiser commercials with the ferret.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted June 6, 2002 Here's the thing: Like newspapers and television, radio exists due to the advertisers. Without them, there is no radio. And radio advertising is a different beast altogether because they have no visual to grab your attention. Thus, they're forced to use incredibly obnoxious people saying ridiculous things because you can't ignore that.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 6, 2002 A general rule: 90% of good commercials are for beer.
Guest imajackoff? Report post Posted June 6, 2002 My newest pet peeve is the radio commercials for car dealerships in which they mumble the fine print at a lower volume during the first 5 seconds of the ad. I FUCKING HATE THOSE!!!!!!
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted June 6, 2002 Yeah, but it's possible to craft an attention-grabbing radio commercial that isn't annoying or obnoxious. Just use some nice music, describe the product in a nice way, and end it! (HINT: That Barenaked Ladies "If I Had a Million Dollars" song does NOT count as "nice music")
Guest DrEvil Report post Posted June 6, 2002 The ones I can't stand are where the owner of local store X goes on about the wonders and virtues of his latest product and has some idiot yes man is agreeing and acting amazed at everything he says - "WOW (dramatic pause) a dvd player that plays cd's also (dramatic pause) that's amazing" is a typical response. It's the horribly obvious script reading and the ass licking dumbass that really annoy about this style. It wouldn't be much more expensive to get a hired actor and a writer to talk about the product in some interesting way. Another thing I hate is when they get "actual testimonials" detailing how great the store is from (bad) actors pretending to be actual customers. Using actors that are so obviously reading a script makes the entire commercial come off as total bullshit. Using actual customers would be more time consuming but would be far more sincere and effective.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 6, 2002 I'm glad someone brought this up. I hate them too and I can't see how the people responsible for making them, don't know they are so lame. i wonder if they even listen to them at all.
