TNA 7/22/06 House Show results from Jacksonville, NC

Recommended Posts

Just got back from a TNA show in Jacksonville. Wow, that was the SMALLEST arena I've ever been in for wrestling by a long shot. It was basically a high school gym. There *might* have been 500 people there total.

Overall, it was a fun show, especially considering the fact that I didn't even know it was going to happen just 24 hours ago. Happened to hear a commercial for it on the radio last night at about 1:30 AM, and bought my tickets at 3. Was right next to the entrance, fourth row. Good tickets even though I bought them at the last minute.

Opening match:

AMW over Diamonds in the Rough, Storm pins Young with the Superkick.

Harris gets on the mic pre-match, talks about how they lost a match the night before, giving the James Gang a title shot instead of them. They then say they're going to start at the top of the tag division.......and call out Diamonds in the Rough? What? Storm then starts talking about how it's great to be in Jacksonville, and wants to hear us chanting "USA" tonight because they support the troops.

Really weird, as AMW plays the faces throughout the whole match. Lots of comedy miscommunication spots between Young and Skipper, and teases that they're going to start attacking each other, only for them to hug at the end of them.

Match 2:

Eric Young over Petey Williams, don't remember how.

So, of course, the idiot crowd decides to chant USA during this match. Dissapointed that I didn't get to see the Canadian Destroyer live.

Spot of the match: Petey has Young in the Tree of Woe, and comes in for the attack. Young sits up and grabs Petey's head, and then gets out of the Tree of Woe and delivers a Stunner all in one motion.

Crowd was split about 50/50 for this match.

Match 3:

Samoa Joe over Abyss and Rhino in a triple threat match. Joe makes Abyss tap to a Tazmission.

Earl Hebner comes out to ref the match, and gets a large(well, as large as you can get with 500 people) "You screwed Bret" chant. Rhino rips up a fan's sign and flips him off during his entrance. Not sure what was on the sign. Crowd EXPLODES for Joe.

Fight goes into the crowd, opposite of where I'm sitting though, so I can't see much. From what I can see, it looks like a trash can and trash can lid was heavily involved in the brawling. Eventually they go up into the bleachers, and Rhino steals a guy's cell phone and makes a call while beating up Abyss.

Match eventually goes back into the ring, Rhino spears himself through a table, and Joe chokes out Abyss for the win.

Intermission. Of course, by this point, the ONE concession stand had run out of food and only had water and Diet Coke left. Skipper, Young, and Williams were all signing stuff, but by the time I got out of line at the concession stand, they had left.

Match 4: Alex Shelley over Jay Lethal with Sliced Bread #2.

Sad, that I remember the fact that this was Match of the Night, but I don't actually remember much of the match itself. I remember a "This is Awesome" chant, and a "Thank you Lethal" chant after the match. But I don't remember much of the match itself.

Match 5: Gail Kim over Local jobber, pinfall while holding ropes.

After AMW plays face in the opener, Gail Kim comes out and plays heel against a local jobber. Gail blocks a DDT by holding onto the ropes, and then pins the jobber while holding onto the middle rope.

For the record, Gail Kim is DAMN hot in person. Lot hotter than I've seen on TV.

Main Event: AJ/Daniels retain the tag team titles over the James Gang. AJ pins BG James after the moonsault/frog splash combo.

Hebner comes out to ref again, but Daniels gets on the mic and says that Earl has a history of screwing over wrestlers, and asks for another ref. Hermie Sadler (UWF owner) comes out and tells Earl to get out of his ring. Kip James leads the crowd in singing "Na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye." BG gets the mic, and he and Kip do the old NAO intro. After "suck it", Kip gets back on the mic, "If ya smellllllllllllllllllll" and the ref quickly takes the microphone back away from him.

Pre-match was way more entertaining than the match itself. Probably worst match of the night. After the match they do the whole "we had a great time, hope we can come back" bit. BG doesn't stick around though, and quickly goes to the back. Not sure if he was injured or what, but Kip stays in the ring, and both he and AJ/Daniels talk as if BG's right there too.

After the show, I get Christopher Daniels to sign my ROH: Best of Christopher Daniels DVD that I bought there. So, wee!

Overall it was a good, fun show. Had a great time, definitely a bigger TNA fan now than I was before.

The "Local Jobber" was probably Amber o'neil.

BG james probably didn't stick around because he hates people. Or just doesn't give a shit.

Does hermie sadler race in nascar anymore?

This is why nothing but good can come of TNA running shows outside of Orlando. Even these small ones will help in the long run.

Indeed it was. I remembered her first name was A-something, and her last name was O-something. That's about it. Pretty sad that I couldn't remember her name, since she was from Wilmington, so I was cheering for her for that sole reason.

He is on a part-time Nextel Cup schedule. Essentially, he isn't getting rides and can't afford a full season.

Hermie Sadler's UWF promotion ran their latest TNA licensed house show last night in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The show drew 1,580 paid with 1,824 in attendance. I believe that may have been Sadler's best crowd to date outside of June's Northeastern shows.

Not bad attendance at all I'd say.

If it says 1824, I guess. But it sure as hell didn't look like anything more than 500. There were between 5 to 6 rows(depending on where they where) of ringside seats, sold out, and then there was one side of the bleachers (other side was rolled up, so that the merchandise tables could go there) about 75% full.
