I'll use Canada for an example.

 

When war broke out the Government immediatly regulated everything and created a new tax called: Income Tax that was supposed to last only until the war ended (it's still around) so immediatly work hours were increased and workers began manafacturing the thingts needed for war (clothing,weapons,transportation,etc.) they tapped into a source that hadn't been really used before, women. while the men were fighting the women were working. the economy prospered.

fuck if I know. you asked how war helped a country's economy. and I basicaly said because the workers work lnger thus produce more, plus taxes are increased.

Canada can't fight in a war. All they did in WWII was stand behind America and pray.

If I remember my American hist classes correctly.. The Canadians took a beach on Normandy(could be diff beach) all by themselves.
