He was found dead. Not sure where, exactly when or why but he has passed on. I'll post new info when I come across it.

Assuming you are a fan of music since you posted here, one look at his last name should tip you off.

This sucks...I was just thinking about Dee Dee earlier today...I was gonna listen to one of his CDs. He was my favorite of the Ramones...because I play bass guitar, just like he did. I wish I could've seen him play live.

I guess it was inevitable...he couldn't lose his fight with drugs, just like his friends Sid Vicious and Johnny Thunders.

Truly a sad day for punk rock. We'll miss you Dee Dee...

Thats a real shame, i wasn't aware he was still a drug user. It made me think about 'Chinese Rocks', the classic Johnny Thunders track which makes direct referece to Dee Dee and the general lifestyle that ultimately claimed both their lives. Coming so soon after Joey makes it even sadder.

Ok redbaron, dee dee ramone along with joey ramone(man hes dead too) and i cant remember the drummer or guitarists name comprised one of the most influential punk rock bands of all time, the ramones. They are probably best known for Blitzkreig Bop which is song #1 on the  tony hawk pro skater 3 game. the smarkboard user KKKtookmybabyaway is also the name of a ramones song. Great band as well.

I was reading the article about his death on Yahoo. I came across something in the article that i found to be strange. It said when he split from the band in early or mid 80's he tried to become a rapper. I found that hard to believe and i can't even begin to picture it. Does anyone know if that is in fact true?

Yeah, it's true. It happened in the late 80s after he left the band and CJ took over playing bass. He was into rap music (which remember was kind of a new thing as far as being popular at the time) and made an album called "Standing in the Spotlight" under the name Dee Dee King. It wasn't popular and didn't sell well, so he went back to doing punk rock stuff. One of the songs from his rap album was called "The Crusher" and became a Ramones song on "Adios Amigos", their final studio album.

Since I've got a Ramones name I guess it's only necessary that I pay my respects...

RIP
