Will the KOTR buyrate be affected by...

Lewis vs. Tyson is tomorrow and at 55 bucks it carries a pretty steep price.

Now I know that Boxing fans aren't all wrestling fans and so on...

but what about the wrestling fans that are boxing fans?

will the current stagnant state of the WWE cause a lot of people to choose to drop their ppv money on the boxing match instead?

Discuss.

Very good point. Although the WWE could use a shitty buyrate right now to show how their shitty storylines are culminating. That Tyson/Lewis fight could have anywhere between a 30-40% decrease in buyrates because of the high cost of the boxing match. I could definitely see the WWE using the Tyson fight as a reason for a shitty buyrate instead of looking at the storylines and lack of elevation.

Excellent question.  I definitely think its going to affect the buyrate, I mean, if your regular cable bill is 50 bucks....and you order the fight, its already at 105.  Add KOTR to that and you're looking at 140 and thats a steep ass cable bill.

Considering the fact that Tyson fights usually have a big buyrate to begin with, now that he's in there with some real competition & this is a "dream fight", the buyrate will be bigger than usual.  HHH-Taker? Ha...thats been done before.  Also, considering the fact that they're doing the watered down version of the tourney, KOTR is just another PPV from WWE.

Probably will be affected by it somewhat, in that fringe buyers will be less likely to get it if they get Tyson-Lewis. Really though it shouldn't make too much of a difference among people who would normally buy a WWE ppv. A pretty fair question though. When I first read the thread title I was preparing to rip into it since I thought you were talking about the NWA:TNA buyrate :) .

I honestly thought that he was talking about NWA:TNA too...lol.  I keep forgetting about the Tyson fight, I hope I don't tomorrow.  Thank God for ******* Cable.

I was thinking the same thing when I came into this thread. Is ANYONE actually ordering that ppv? I mean paying for it, not watching it for free.

And yeah, I'd say it will hurt the buyrate. Not much though. But of course they will use that as the reason.

The NWA has enough talent to make me drop 10 bucks if they put together a decent card.

Battle Royal bullshit aint gonna cut it though.

Actually, I'll probably order the first NWA show because of the battle royal.  I'm curious how many people in attendance will actually think Buff Bagwell or Rick Steiner have a chance of winning the thing.  And since the final two are deciding it in an actual wrestling match, it's a nice twist.

As for the actual topic, the fight won't be affecting me at all for KOR, as I'm not paying 55 bucks for what I assume is going to be a three round fight (or some bullshit decision to set up a rematch) and I'm actually attending KOR this year.  Dear God, I'm begging for a 10 minute Helms-Knoble match at KOR.
