basically this thread is about voice actors, famous ones. Anyways, I was reading about Spiderman anaimated series when I realized that Hank Azaria did the voice for Venom. Is it just me or is Hank Azaria Mr. Cartoon Voices? Between the simpsons and spiderman, this man has ahd a good career, excluding his films.

Also was Edward Asner   J. Jonah Jameson in the Spiderman movie? Cause he was the voice of J.J. and I swear I saw his name in the spidey movie credits.

J.K. Simmons who plays Vern Schillinger on the HBO prison drama, Oz, played Jameson in the movie.

There's this guy called Daniel Amato.

He does the voice for loads of Disney films, he was Hercules, Tarzan, Lion King etc.

He was in A Bugs Life, Chicken Run and loads of other shit.

He also is the voice of Guybrush Threepwood from the Monkey Island Games.

Keith David who co-star with Roddy Pipper in They Live has done voices for MTV The Maxx and HBO Spawn series, I think.

Ed Asner, BTW is a short, stocky and bald guy, best known to most of the world as Lou Grant from the Mary Tyler Moore Show (Mary's boss at the TV station, later had his own series) obviously looks nothing like JJ Jameson

There are a number of names listed in the credits on IMDB that resemble the name so I guess looking quickly on a credits roll you'd think it was (I've done that a few times over the years)

Mark Hamill has done alot of voice acting. He's been the voice of Joker in all the Batman cartoons. He's also Joker and Solomon Grundy in the new JLA cartoon. He was Hobgoblin in 90's spiderman.

Mark Hamill also was the Leader's henchman in the 90's Hulk series.  Speaking of which, Matt Frewer was the Leader, and did a pretty good job.

Then there's Casey Kasem, who voiced Robin in Superfriends, Shaggy, various Transformers and I'm sure several others back in the day.

And Kevin Conroy has probably THE definitive Batman voice IMO.

How could no one have mentioned James Earl Jones?  I not by any means a Star Wars fan and even I know he was Darth Vader's voice.

And Kevin Conroy IS Batman.  No one has done it better, same for Hammil as the Joker.

Mellissa Joan Hart does the Dee Dees voice in Batman Beyond and few other relatively famous voices were part of the show as well.

Frank Welker:  He has been on many cartoons, his most famous voice was Slimer in "The Real Ghostbusters."

Keith David has to be the biggest 'that guy' in hollywood, next to...um...that guy...you know, THAT guy... Yeah.

In any case, he still rules it with his deep dark Goliath fuck-you-up-Armageddon-style-mothurfuckurs voice.

TONY TODD! Is pretty swank as well, but I can't recall anything he has done... Voice still rules.

I agree - Kevin Conroy IS Batman.  Now and forever.

Frank Welker is somewhat underrated; the man has literally done everything.  If there's an animal sound in your cartoon, he's probably done it.  Not only did he voice Slimer in "The Real Ghostbusters", but he voiced Ray Stantz, and he's done so many other voices for so many other shows it's amazing the amount of work he's done.

A show that had arguably the best voice actors has to be Disney's "Gargoyles" show.  Despite being a kickass, adult-oriented animated program, it had numerous talented voice actors.  Keith David, Frank Welker, Jeff Bennett, Ed Asner, Kath Soucie, Jim Cummings, Cree Summer, Clancy Brown, CCH Pounder, Paul Winfield, James Avery, Jim Belushi, Gerrit Graham, Tony Jay, Dorian Harewood, Roddy McDowall, the GREAT John Rhys-Davies and David Warner, Tim freakin' Curry....as well as TONS of Star Trek alumni:  Marina Sirtis & Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Avery Brooks, Colm Meaney, Kate Mulgrew, Michael Dorn, Nichelle Nichols and Levar Burton.

That's a lineup that few can rival.  Perhaps Batman: TAS, but little else.

I wasn't aware Todd did any voice work, but i know he was The Candyman

by the way, another voice-over person who's all over the place is Phil Lamarr.  He's on Justice League, Samurai Jack, as well as doing many of the voices in the Metal Gear Solid games.  He also stars on Mad TV

Tim Daly did the New Adventures of Superman.  Rob Lowe in Exosquad?

Hank Azaria anyone?

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I guess reading should be a prerequisite, huh?

Well, I know he was Kurn in Star Trek: TNG and he was in The Rock, but I'd no idea he did voice work.

He's got some great range - his John Stewart sounds more like it comes from James Earl Jones than Lamarr.
