Unless Rutgers is voted behind a few 1-loss teams at the end of the season, they'll be there. Which is probably moot, because I don't think they have any chance of winning in Morgantown to end the year.

There's a very slim chance that the voters would vault Rutgers over the SEC one loss teams, and either Michigan or Ohio State.

The way things are headed barring any big upsets, we are going to get at least two really good BCS bowl games with undefeated Ohio State/Michigan vs. undefeated West Virginia/Louisville for the title, and the loser of OSU/UM against USC or Cal in the Rose Bowl. Then the other three bowls will probably involve some combination of Texas (assuming they win the Big 12), the SEC champ, Notre Dame, whichever of Cal/USC doesn't win the Pac 10, the loser of Louisville/WVU, whoever wins the ACC, Boise State, and possibly other non-champion SEC teams.

I'm also hoping Tulsa can get into the rankings soon. They could have a shot at finishing in the Top 16. If they beat Houston next week, it should be smooth sailing until the Conference USA title game.

And BYU is good enough to be in the discussion, but blah blah...

Arkansas will be out of any discussions by the time invitations are handed out. There's no way they win out the rest of the year. At least one more loss will be handed to them.

I think BYU is easily the best non-BCS team in the nation. But, their 2 losses ruin their chances. Damn opener. They've basically clinched the Mountain West, so they'll play in the Las Vegas, or some bowl that doesn't matter.

I certainly wasn't saying that Rutgers or Arkansas was likely to win out. Just that if they did, they'd each have pretty good shots at going to the title game, especially with the games they have remaining on their schedule. As far as BYU goes.....no. If you've got Notre Dame and Boise State in, that leaves one at large for a one-loss Big East or SEC team, and one spot for the OSU/Michigan loser. No way in hell does a two-loss Mountain West team with a loss to Arizona deserve to be in over an 11-1 Tennessee or West Virginia.

Oh, and I also disagree that BYU's better than Boise. When Boise State's motivated, they're very very good. They'll screw around with an Idaho or New Mexico State occasionally, but they beat Top 30 caliber teams in Oregon State and Hawaii (Oregon State by 28), and stomped a decent Utah team on the road. I think they can actually give Texas a game whereas BYU would probably lose by 3 TDs.

Since I got as far as I did already, here are my projections for the BCS games:

BCS Championship: Ohio State (12-0) vs. Florida (12-1)

Rose Bowl: California (11-1) vs. Michigan (11-1)

Sugar Bowl: Tennessee (11-1) vs. Notre Dame (10-2)

Fiesta Bowl: Texas (12-1) vs. Boise State (12-0)

Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech (11-2) vs. Louisville (11-1)

Snubs: West Virginia (11-1), Rutgers (11-1)

Where were the OSU and Hawaii games played at? Smurf Stadium may be the biggest home advantage in the nation. Although, Boise proved themselves on the road at average Utah. Neutral field, I'm all over BYU. Too bad we'll never get to see it happen, as BYU will beat up on Oregon or something in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Is it just me, or is there no Heisman talk this year.

Yeah, it is a bit weird. I think it's because there's no clear favorite. Also, I think that everyone knows Peterson is the best offensive player in the nation, so it's a bit cheapened.

Troy has something like 20 TD's and 2 INT's. But, his yards are quite low. He doesn't get the chance to run up stats. He's not flashy in any way.

Im gonna call the championship game now..sort of..

Winner of Louisville/WVU this Thursday vs Winner of OSU/Michigan in 3 weeks.

If Louisville wins, they can beat Rutgers next week and the rest of their schedule is a cakewalk to staying undefeated. IF West Virginia wins, their only remaining test would be the final week vs Rutgers.

Neither Ohio St. or Michigan have any challenges before they meet in 3 weeks.

There's no Heisman talk because Troy Smith is a freak.

Iggy's bowl projections = ratings. I know I'd watch all those games. You really think GT is going to take out Boston College?

Yeah, I think so. The teams are really even, but I think GT's pass defense will shut BC down and they don't quite have the pounding running game Clemson does that wore out the GT D-line over 4 quarters. BC's got a good defense too, and they'll keep it low-scoring and close, but the Jackets will hit a couple good plays over the top that should be good for a win. Also, the ACC championship game's in Jacksonville, and I'd expect about 80% Ga. Tech fans.

And yeah, I think Rutgers can knock off Louisville. They get them the week after the WVU game, so there's the letdown factor, plus Louisville's about 14 points worse on the road than they are at home. I haven't run stats or anything, but I think they're right up there with Boise State and Hawaii for the biggest home/road difference in the country.

The Heisman talk's low because there's no challenger for Troy Smith. Peterson got hurt, Wolfe had back to back games under 50 yards, and Leak single-handedly gave the Auburn game away. If Brady Quinn has a big game against USC, he'll get some hype, but no one really cares what he does against Purdue and Navy.

That's about it.

Although, WVU and Louisville both still have to play at Pitt.

As far as the Heisman goes, I think this is how it plays out:

If OSU finished undefeated, Troy Smith wins. But, that's the only way he can win.

If not, then if Notre Dame wins out, Brady Quinn wins. Boo. We don't want that.

If neither happen, then I have no idea. Michigan doesn't have anyone with glamorous stats, except maybe Mike Hart. And he's another one that's as unflashy as it gets. I guess we bring Slaton, and maybe even Ray Rice into the conversation. But, Brady Quinn would probably still win, as he has "it" or some nonsense.
