Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 9, 2002 The Simpson... America's greatest cartoon family... A series whose reputation is built on the quantity AND quality of it's good-great episodes. It is so hard to find one that stands above the rest... Who shot Mr. Burns? The Log Cabin Eps. Homer goes to Space. Ask anyone who knows and they will give you a list of eps that could be considered the best eps. I have often debated within myself this very question. Until Now. I was watching this the other day, first time in a couple of months, I have seen it many times and always laugh at different parts each time. This eps. is where Homer goes to College to pick up a degree in Nuclear Fission. Yeah, you are thinkin about it right now... How many lines can you say off the top of your head that relates to this very episode? -Hello that sounds like a pig fainting. -Curly Straight, Curly Straight, Curly Strai OUCH! -Hello Dean, you are a STUPID-HEAD...Homer is that you?... DOH! I will leave the rest for YOU to point out and prove your nerdlingerdom. The amount of classic lines in this episode are staggering, sure they don't measure up to the 'boo-urns' or 'Moon-pies? whatta time to be alive" lines, but in each scene, EACH SCENE, there is something quotable and incredibly funny. The laugh/scene ratio is 1:1, something unparalleled in television today and in past simpsons eps. I say that this IS the best Simpson episode... DO YOU? Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 9, 2002 Good God no. There is no such thing as the best ever. With everyone's different taste, we'd be arguing about this until the end of time. There are candidates for it, but none really stick out as much as the NRA episode, when Homer gets the gun. "Luckily, I recovered, and managed to shoot him in the spine. Yeah, the next place he tries to rob, better have a ramp!" Moe @ the NRA meeting. "Do you know how to make dinner?" Homer to Milhouse. Milhouse: "DO I?!" Not to mention, the running gag about the king of england, "Vote Quimby" coming from the hotel, "A gun is a tool, like a hammer, a saw, or an alligator", Addiaga, Addiaga 2, Baddiaga, Addisika, " (voice on TV), Homer starts getting up from the couch, "I've never heard of any of those guys," "And they'll all be signing autographs!" "Whoo-Hoo!!" My second favorite is the Prohibition episode. I think most people on this board will agree. Homer goes to college is good, but definetly not the greatest episode ever. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 9, 2002 the NRA and Prohibition episodes are my favorites as well. Im also a fan of the Boyband episode where they were trying to get kids to join the navy.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Jesus Christ I hate all those eps.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 10, 2002 So many classics. 107th episode Behind the scenes. "I was so gay...but I couldn't tell anyone!" Grandpa Simpson becomes rich. Homer on the traveling freak show "Homer there's nothing like taking care of my freaks. I'm sending you to a vet." "If its brown, drink it down, if its black send it back" Homer has to pass high school. Mrs. Simpson comes back.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Some of my favorite episodes are (I don't know the epsiode names off the top of my head) The Sherry Bobbins one(this one made me laugh from start to finish) The one where they go to Itchy & Scratchy Land The union one Frank Grimes The one where Bart joins the Junior Campers I also liked the episodes mentioned above. But you really can't say that one episode is better than the every one else. It is all a matter of taste. I think we can safely say that this is the best series ever, IMO. And this will be a show that will be missed once it eventually goes off the air, which I hope doens't happen in very long time.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I can't believe that none of you have even mentioned the Halloween specials! Those were some of the best ever, easily.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 10, 2002 The behind the laughter one was great. I also liked when homer traveled with Smashing Pumpkins as a freak with lollapalooza(i think they called it lollapalooza or they made a new name for it)
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 10, 2002 The Halloween ep with I know what you did-iddly-did and Desperately Xeeking Xena is my favorite Halloween ep of them all.
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted June 10, 2002 i like the episode with the gay guy, just for the scene in the steel mill, as soon as they played C&C Music Factory i was gone for the rest of the episode laughing and when Homer changes his name to Max Power "Max Power doesn't cuddle you strap yourself in and feel the G's"
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 10, 2002 The one with immigration was a great one, as well. "Now, we all know that the 13 stripes are for good luck..." "And they're smarter than the average bear, they stole my picknick basket!" (After everyone leaves, Quimby starts eating a sandwich from a basket) Flanders acting as if he's in mortal danger, while the bear sits, confused in the street. "Hello, Homer, Let's take a relaxed attitude towards work and watch the baseball match. The NY Mets are my favorite squadron" "Sleep is for the weak Apu! Now, I'm going to bed, you study my notes." The Boyband episode is great. Especially for the YVAN EHT NIOJ. I sang that song for a good week, and still whistle it from time to time. We can't forget the one with Bush. Only for the classic line (Burns at Krusty Burger drive thru) Hmmm....Krusty Burger, that doesn't sound very appitizing. What kind of stew do you have today? Voice: Uh, we don't gave stew sir. (Homer hauling ass around tight curve) I gotta hurry, there's only one minute before they stop serving those breakfast balls!
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted June 10, 2002 My favorite episode is now and forever "Lisa the Vegetarian." Even so, how we can be 12 posts into this thread without anyone mentioning the monorail episode is beyond me.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted June 10, 2002 One of my favourite episodes in the tennis one. I'm not sure on the exact name of it, but it's full of classic quotes: Homer: "Who are you?" Andre Agassi: "I'm Andre Agassi." Homer: "The wrestler?"
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I also liked when homer traveled with Smashing Pumpkins as a freak with lollapalooza(i think they called it lollapalooza or they made a new name for it) I think they called it "Hullabalooza". My favourite episode is when Bart joined the Mob as a bar man, especially as when I first saw it, I'd not long watched Goodfellas for the first time. "What's a truck?" "The kiss of death, that's all I need! " "Give me 3 fingers of milk ma." Et cetera.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Best ones: is Homer in the Navy Itchy and Scratchy Land Homer the boxer Springfield vs Shelbyville in the battle of the lemon tree Behind the Scenes (Simpson's boogie was funny) Halloween episode when they went on Springer and the School faculty eating the students Softball epsiode was classic Camp Krusty And any episode that had singing in it
Guest Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Won't somebody PLEASE think of the Sexual Harassment episode? "He looks at you when you least expect it... he's Rowdy Roddy PEEPER!"
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Ones that could warrant contention: -Itchy and Scratchy land (we are out of BORT license plates, I repreat we are out of BORT license plates) -Bart in the Mob -SOFTBALL! -Camp Krusty -Bart w/ Jr. Campers -Sexual Harrassment Suit EVERYONE after 98 doesn't count... I am sorry, they all (cept the one or two exception) after the infamous FRANK GRIMES eps. sucked...so much...ass... Why Hullapalooza sucked: I recognized this episode as the one where the Simpsons stopped being cool and started trying to be cool. They went from using pre-90's icons in the first few seasons to trying to be 'hip wit da kidz', and the hullapalooza tour with Smashing Pumpkins was it. Why Frank Grimes sucked: The turn of Homer Simpson. Before this Homer was innocently dumb, now he is maliciously stupid. Frank Grimes, a hardworking decent man dies and Homer is partly to blame, and what does he do? "Turn the Channel Marge" The following Lenny line sums up the past 5 years of Simpson television "That's our Homer" After this eps (and a lil bit before it) the simpsons went from Bart as the lead with Homer the lovable sidekick, to Homer the lead adn Bart the queer. The greatest eps. had Homer as the lead, BUT they were regulated with bart taking up most of the seasons storylines. Now its all homer all the time and his character is a totally different person. Why the John Waters eps Sucks: Bart never really recovered after this. His homosexuality shines through to today... Quite sad really, this once proud underachiever is now a boy band member *shudders* Boy Band: Don't get me started... Sweet mother of god don't get me started... This was so...SO fucking bad. Best Halloween Eps: The one with the evil krusty doll and dracula (it was so nice for mr burns to invite us out to his castle in PENNSYLVANIA)
Guest papacita Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I don't have a favorite Simpsons episode (it's so hard to just choose one...or five for that matter), but one I always loved was the museum episode where Lisa had to take the bus to the museum and got lost. Funniest line: Homer: Now I know I'm not a praying man, but if you're up there...PLEASE SAVE ME SUPERMAN! Then when the cherrypicker slides down and he gets he head caught in the bridge, I died laughing at that. And the ending was funny too, after they opened the music box thingy in the exhibit. I'm paraphrasing here... Lisa: It's song may never be heard again. Homer: Yes, but it will live on with us forever. He immediately starts humming some other song (I forget what it was), and he and Lisa walk out of the museum together and set off the security alarm. Funny! The Lemon Tree episode was another one of my favorites ("Stupider like a fox!") and for Halloween Episodes, I liked the Zombie one. Lisa: Dad, you just killed the zombie Flanders! Homer: He was a zombie?

Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I would have to say that my favorites are: The Sideshow Bob episodes, especially the Cape Feare one and "A Brother From A Different Series." The Halloween episodes. Homer Becomes a Boxer Homer Goes to Space And one that I don't think has been mentioned is when Homer gets a new job and the Simpsons move to that perfect neighborhood where Lisa is allergic to everything and Marge can't do housework since the house does it for her. Can someone help me out on the exact name of this episode?
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 10, 2002 The Halloween ep with I know what you did-iddly-did and Desperately Xeeking Xena is my favorite Halloween ep of them all. i watched this one yesterday and it was a classic. i like after the simpsons kill flanders and homer begins to think that he can get away with murder. "now let's get that little weiner milhouse" or something to that effect.

Can someone help me out on the exact name of this episode? That episode was so fucking funny! I'm not sure the exact name, but it was funny as hell when his boss turned out to be like a supervillian or something and Homer didn't even realize it. My favorite part was when the James Bond type guy was making an escape, and when the boss was like "Stop him!" and Homer (who was just getting candy out of a machine or something) turns around and tackles him. His boss told him he'd add a new story on his house, and then his henchmen just shot the Bond guy. That had me on the floor.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted June 10, 2002 The Episode where Homer gets a new job with Bond villain-type Hank Scorpio was called "You Only Move Twice".
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 10, 2002 The Scorpio eps. was good, but I don't think it is even CLOSE to any of the shows in the simpsons 'prime' (Season 3-7). The best part HAD TO BE, "I am from CAN-A-DA, so they think I am slow, eh?". It warms me heart, as a Canadian, to hear that... Not like that piece of shit episode where they came to Canada for like 5 FUCKING MINUTES!!! We made that day a national holiday and McBain gets more air time than T-dot. Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted June 11, 2002 With The Simpsons it's damn near impossible to pick a favorite episode. But if I had to choose, I'd go with the NASA episode. Favorite moments: +Homer vs Barney when they pick Barney and Barney somehow gets drunk off the non-alcoholic champagne, resulting in him using the jet pack only to bounce of the roof of the pillow factory and get run over by the marshmallow truck. +The slapjack running gag. +"The two sweetest words in the English language. DE-FAULT! DE-FAULT!" +Kent Brockman selling out to the supposed alien ants. +The INANIMATE CARBON ROD~! I also mark for the Homer vs Tatum and softball episodes. Guest cdstunner66 Report post Posted June 11, 2002 I cannot believe nobody has mentioned the Casino episode. "You're mother has been possesed by a demon. I call him Gamblor." "Cut my nails, cut my hair, take these tissue boxes off my feet. Oh, we'll save the urine for later." or the Pin Pals episode. "No sir, that was $500 dollars for a "boweling." "Yes, the last time I didn't have that done wasn't pleasant for anybody."

Guest Report post Posted June 11, 2002 41 Short Films about Springfield is good. And I like one that goes way back (WAAYYYYY BACK!) to the 1st or second season, the Simpsons go to see Dr Marvin Monroe, because Homer is painfully aware of his family's dysfunction. So many good scenes from that episode. (While peering into neighbor's homes) Bart: Ay Caramba, who lives in this dump? Homer: I dunno, but we're trampling all over the hedges Marge: Homie, this is our house... Homer: D'oh! (an ad for Dr Marvin Monroe on tv, showing a couple fighting) Mother: Shut up Father: No, you shut up Mother: No, you shut up (young child enters the room) Child: Why don't you BOTH shut up?!?! Also, any episode that involves a hallucination is fuckin' A in my book (Marge drinks tap water and sees the walls melt <again>, Lisa drinks the water at Duff Gardens and sees the Beatles, Homer eats chili and sees a coyote that sounds like Johnny Cash)
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted June 12, 2002 Yeah, that dog bit was great. Homer-"And the talking fox must have been that talking dog!" Dog-"Hi Homer!" Homer-"Wait, dogs can't talk!" Dog-"Woof." Homer-"Damn straight!"
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted June 12, 2002 One of my favorite's was Flaming Moe's: "Helloooooo St. Loooouii!!" "Uh, that's Springfield Steven" "Whatever, Are you ready to rock!!!" and the classica "Oh look at me Marge, I'm making people happy. I'm the magical man, who lives in a gumdrop house on lolipop lane." Shuts door, beat, door opens "Oh by the way I was being sarcastic" "Well duh"
