Guest Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I've only heard a few minutes of his commentating on Heat from tonight, but it is excellent. He can definitely do this full time after he stops wrestling. I hope they just don't try to push him into this role. I want him to get an IC level push and to start wrestling on Raw again for atleast 2 or 3 more years, before he retires. Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I also thought he was great, pointing out psychology & just sounding enthusiastic about the product without shilling. I just hope that they'll push him in one way or another. Dames
Guest Report post Posted June 10, 2002 D'lo was indeed in fine form behind the mic, but as it is being pointed out, he's being wasted in the part.
Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Yes, D'Lo was great on Heat. However, he should be wrestling and have the European title on him NOW, as a heel. When D'Lo is done wrestling, he should be a color commentator. Raven should do Raw, and D'Lo could do Smackdown, if they are still around. The shows that is. Guest Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I thought D-Lo was average at best. I mean, it was a nice first outing in the commentating booth, sure, but I'm not ready to give him the verbal blowjob that everybody else on here is seemingly poised for. Raven was a hell of a lot better in the color commentating position. He called moves and pointed out psychology and did so in a very intelligent matter. He brought professionalism and sensibility to the announce table. D-Lo was a little goofy for my tastes. Comments like "That was the biggest vertical suplex I've ever seen in my LIFE!" just sound a little ridiculous. Final Verdict: Decent job, but he's a much better performer in the ring. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted June 10, 2002 Only problem of dlo's, he talks TOO DAMN FAST! not as fast as Charlie Minn but hes splurting words out faster then a person urinating after drinking 20 beers.
Guest raptor Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I think he looked a lot better in comparison to Jackie...
Guest Report post Posted June 10, 2002 While I agree that D-Lo was much better than Jackie at commentating, I still wasn't that impressed. He did ok, but it was nothing to write home about. He could definitely benefit from more experience, though I would rather see him wrestling than commentating. Why Raven left the broadcasting position, I will never know. I guess he feels he can still go, but his matches have proven otherwise. He's an acerbaic man with an extremely quick wit. That kind of talent is unheard of in the world of WWE commentating. I would love to see him return the Johnny Polo character to t.v.

I think theres nothing he regrets more in his life than being Johnny Polo
Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 10, 2002 D-Lo was annoying as hell to me doing Heat. He seemed overexcitable or something. Why don't they just bring Michael Hayes back on TV or something as color man instead of these constant switching around week after week with it? He was just fine way back when as Dok Hendrix. Another guy that might work here would be Steven Richards.

Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted June 10, 2002 D-Lo bothered me, because of this... "The King of the Ring is a huge starting point! Stone Cold, HHH, and Kurt Angle, all former winners, all have gone on to win the undisputed title!"

Guest papacita Report post Posted June 10, 2002 D'Lo was great for a first time job. Some of his stuff seemed a little forced though, but I think he did a great job.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 10, 2002 i thought it was all right too. much better than jackie last week but not quite on par with raven who raw terrific. still if the wwe wanted to push d'lo as a commentator on heat that would be great. he looked good in his first week so if he were to do a few broadcasts and get used to commentating he would be a lot more comfortable next to the coach. Guest notJames Report post Posted June 10, 2002 I just wish he was more consistent with his character. Case in p oint: He called HBK something to the effect of "the most charismatic man in the industry...". Taking into consideration D'Lo' personality, he should have at least added "... next to myself, of course". He's always been brash, cocky, very into his character, and that didn't come out on mike. Sure, he's not so much a heel anymore, but it would've been nice for a little bit of his former self to come out. Especially in this age of "friendly commentators". We need heel colour men who root for the bad guys, but can still credibly put over the faces, ala Jesse Ventura and Bobby Heenan. Everybody's gotta be so respectful of everyone in the ring. It sickens me. Oh, and like it's been said before, keep D'Lo in the ring where he belongs.
