"The bosses want to know why your music played during the International Title Match."

 

Walter Reynolds stares at Alan Clark as they ride on Alan's old bus from Dallas to Baton Rouge. Between them are tons of papers, contracts and the like. Alan has a cellphone to his ear.

 

"The sound guy saw Bloodshed and must have thought it was me. We do look fairly similar."

 

Walter's stare intensifies.

 

"What do you mean 'we look similiar'? You are the same--"

 

"Not according to our contracts." Alan smiles, almost smirks, as he points between the papers in front of them. "So as long as Disney Sponsored Alan Clark isn't attacking random people and bloodying up the competition on purpose, things are good. We're still employed, and neither company can complain. I've had lawyers on the phone for a week because of this. It's all good."

 

"Fine." Suddenly, Walter pulls a second ringing phone from his pocket and throws it to his ear. "Yeah, he's here." pause "Okay. What?" pause "We are about halfway there now." longer pause "Okay, I'll tell him." Walter pulls the phone away from his ear and smiles as he puts it down.

 

"What was that about?"

 

"That was Peters. He says that Alan Clark has been put into a tag team match against Wasted Youth for Storm. You know, Akira Kaibatsu and Zyon."

 

"Yeah, I know. Do I get a partner for this thing or do I have to go in alone?" Walter pauses again.

 

"Cross. Your partner is Michael Cross. Peters says that if you want to play your little games..."

 

"What games?"

 

"...that you have to prove yourself worthy of interrupting the International Title Match."

 

"I didn't do that! Alan Clark was nowhere near that ring after I beat that french guy!"

 

"Peters doesn't care. He says you can explain yourself to Cross when you get to Baton Rouge." Alan scratches his head and turns his face down.

 

"It wasn't me." Alan looks up, smiling. "You heard anything from Todd Cortez lately?"

 

"Whoy would I?"

 

"Oh, right." Alan laughs. "I must have thought you were somebody else."
