As of right now, here are the scenarios for the '07 draft. Order is according to team records entering tonight.

 

Round 1

1. Philadelphia (If Philadelphia makes the playoffs, this pick goes to Golden State, through Atlanta and Dallas. The Hawks acquired the pick in the 4-team trade involving Glenn Robinson, Latrell Sprewell and Keith Van Horn. Dallas acquired the pick in the Walker/Terry deal, and Golden State acquired it via the Dampier trade. I'll go out on a limb and say that the Sixers keep this pick.)

5. Atlanta (If this pick is not in the top 3, it goes to Phoenix to complete the Joe Johnson trade.)

6. New York (If this pick is from #1-#24, Chicago has the right to swap as part of the Eddy Curry trade. If the pick is from #25-#30, it goes to Utah, via Phoenix. Phoenix acquired the pick in the Stephon Marbury trade, and sent it to Utah in a trade involving Keon Clark and Tom Gugliotta.)

I miss the days when the Slam Dunk contest had stars and one attempt per round. I really don't want to see Nate Robinson win this year or another crazy white boy miss 5 dunks in a roll in 30 seconds again.

Even though he's putting up triple doubles left and right New Jersey has been pretty bad, and I can't justify them having two all-stars. It's the peoples' fault for voting Carter a starter, but so be it.

They could beat Phoenix in a 7 game series. Styles clash and all, but not Dallas. The Lakers can't defend Dallas in the half-court.

 

I think the Lakers are one player away. Whether or not they get that player within the next two seasons remains to be seen, by trading Odom or someone else. I'd like to move Farmar with some expiring contracts for a good player. One that can play defense, that wears a # close to 100.

I think the best case scenario for the Lakers, out of the big three (Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix), would be to get Phoenix again, honestly. I think if Bynum is able to hold his own against Amare, that's a plenty winnable series for them, though I'd still pick the Suns to win.

 

I just think Dallas has too many weapons. They obviously can't guard Dirk. If Terry's on, they won't be able to guard him. I don't see them really slowing Howard or even Stackhouse if they go to him, either. Do the Lakers even have a "stopper", so to speak? Or is Smush Parker supposedly it?

 

As far as the Spurs go, I just think it's funny when people say "they're a year older, they're on the downswing", etc. I've seen no evidence of these guys slowing down, and if not for the Fisher shot and Manu's foul on Dirk last year, I'd be willing to bet that they're going for their fifth straight title right now. I still expect them to win every series until I actually see them lose, honestly.

And thats the problem. Bynum couldn't hold his own again Amare, because if Amare doesn't know how to do anything else, its draw fouls on guys. You see what he did to Dwight Howard. Active defensive players get alot of fouls on Amare because of his hurky jerky moves in the post and he is great at creating contact and getting other bigs in the air.

 

The Lakers gave them hell in the playoffs last year because of mismatchs all over the court, but this year it would be Amare on a big instead of Diaw on a 7 ft. Brown. Then you have all the rest of the defense shift. into better positions.

So Alf, now that Jermaine O'neil has basically said he wants to get traded....do you feel it will happen.

 

And does he realize that the only teams with the cap space to take on his salary without breaking a team would probably be the Hawks or The BobCats(who don't need him) while the Hawks need a big man with a post game.

 

In other words, if he doesn't shut the fuck up, he will be a Hawk.

I guess he expects Walsh to just trade him away for junk. Obviously I don't expect to get equal value for him, but like you said, it's hard to see him winding up in a better situation than the one he's in.

 

The more time goes by, the more I think that trading Ron Artest was a mistake.

Of what the Lakers have in the cupboard, I'd give 2 1st's, Farmar and Kwame for O'Neal. I'm against trading first round picks unless you get a star, and O'Neal's a star.
