Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Hell, we might be all off the mark and it might end up being HHH-Austin at Mania. I can't see Jericho staying at the top with the return of the dinosaurs. I want to be wrong on this, I just don't think I am.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 I think the marks are getting to smart to cheer for HHH. He was one of the best heels ever...but by being so was also one of the most violent, reprehensible characters ever. And everyone knows that he'll turn heel eventually. So what is the point in cheering him?
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 I doubt Austin is going to win at NWO. Unless the WWF plays "Fool the smarks". Pretty much everybody can see the nWo costing Austin the title. You never know though.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Tony, common sense would dictate that Austin loses at NWO, but when does common sense ever factor into WWF booking? Plus, HHH-Austin is a way of playing it safe and the WWF isn't known to take huge chances, only on poorly thought out angles.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 It's kinda werid to see what's happened. A few months ago, people were saying a heel SCSA vs. a face HHH. Now it's changed so much. Will it be HHH/SCSA, HHH/Jericho, HHH/SCSA/The Rock, or the nWo, etc.
Guest mastermind Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Yep, when you really think about it we were talking about WM around SummerSlam last year and it was almost majority saying it would be heel Austin defending against face Triple H or Rock/Austin. This goes to show that wrestling isn't as predictable as we think. Hell, who would have thought wcw would be actually GONE for good in storylines? Whou would have thought the actual REAL NWO would be here? Maybe fans are getting a little bit spoiled. Jericho was getting defended by the net when Vince cut his push, but then a few months later he unifies the wwf and wcw titles and is highly likely to main event WM. Rock vs. Hogan would have been laughed at 6 months ago. Anyways, this is what I feel SHOULD be the top matches with the influx of the new "talent". Hogan vs. Steve Austin plain and simple! He should cost Austin the title tommorrow. Hogan just plain hating on Austin's success and his ascension to the top of the wwf when he lost. The storyline writes itself and is simple for fans to hook onto. The drama and emotion will also be sky high. Rock vs. Scott Hall OOOZZZZZING MACHISMO vs. Mr. Cool Guy Rock. They both can have the cool cocky bastards storyline. Triple H vs. Scott Stiener. Two genetic freaks. Well, actually steroid freaks. Jericho vs. Kurt Angle for the undisputed title Undertaker vs. Ric Flair Star power and basically one match that can generate 4 stars at least in Jericho/Angle. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 16, 2002 "Star power and basically one match that can generate 4 stars at least in Jericho/Angle." What's sad is that the WWF can put on several **** matches every night. In 2000, they were doing this. Even earlier last year. Why would i settle for Hogan or UT matches when I can have stars out the wazoo? Screw the dinosaurs!
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Mastermind, that's a pretty good card. The young guys are just going to have to shine for a while in the midcard.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 16, 2002 'The young guys are just going to have to shine for a while in the midcard.' That's the kind of thinking that WCW used to employ. The midcard will be the only reason to purchase WWF events in the near future. The WWF is resembling WCW all over again.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 I think the WWF knows they'll need to elevate the midcards ie. RVD, but if the become marks for the "big names" like Bischoff did, then they're in trouble.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 16, 2002 They're already marks for the big names. That's obvious by doing something so desperate like signing the NWO. They had plenty of talent to work with instead they chose to bring in the dinos because they lack creativity.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 I'll still wait and see what they do with the nWo angle. There's a way to make it entertaining while moving up the young guys, but with Vince & Steph writing....it probably won't happen.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 16, 2002 The only way to move up the new guys successfully is for the old guys (NWO, UT) to job and elevate them. Do you see that happening? Didn't think so.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 To make the angle credible. The nWo will need to be booked as "ass kickers". Then when the angle is ready for the blow off start having them elevate the young guys.
