...and Triples are just short HRs that hit the wall and bounce into the track. Come on now the utility players that do nothing but Steals or pitch hit need the Double stat!

OK, with 17 voting, Slugging Percentage wins and replaces Hits as the 6th offensive stat.

Slugging: 9

Doubles: 4

Hits: 2

Abstain: 2

Like I said, I have Round 1 all ready to go, and will likely post it tomorrow evening, so everyone start paying attention because this thing will depend on cooperation to run smoothly.

Any last minute pre-draft questions, let me know!

Are trades an option before/during the draft?

Also from the I'm bored at work file, here are the keepers per round accounted for. Helped me at least as a guide to know what I am looking at drafting.

Round 1 - 13 keepers/7 picks open (pick no. overall 1-7)

Round 2 - 10/10 (8-17)

Round 3 - 10/10 (18-27)

Round 4 - 10/10 (28-37)

Round 5 - 4/16 (38-53)

Round 6 - 1/19 (54-72)

Round 7 - 3/17 (73-89)

Round 8 - 4/16 (90-105)

Round 9 - 4/16 (106-121)

Round 10 - 3/17 (122-138)

Round 11 - 2/18 (139-156)

Round 12 - no keepers (157-176)

Round 13 - no keepers (177-196)

Round 14 - 1/19 (197-215)

Round 15 - no keepers (216-235)

Round 16 - 2/18 (236-253)

Round 17 - 2/18 (254-271)

Hah, thanks for that, that actually helps make my life a little easier going forward too.

I'm just going to say for the sake of expediency and clarity that we put a freeze on trades until the draft is over and teams are formed. We don't want this to turn into the NBA draft where I'm Commisioner Stern walking to the podium every 2 minutes to announce "we have another trade!" and get booed off (probably by angry Knick fans).

If the draft is this week, you might as well give my team away. I'm going to be in Vegas from the 6th through the 13th, and there's no way I'm going to be checking my laptop every day.

So long as we retain a posting that only changes to reflect taken players

so we all know...

why not make a sheet and place the keepers in it and then just add once a day as people take them

I doubt we would get done with more than 2 rounds. The NBA Keeper league takes almost half a week to get one round drafted.

We're doing it this early because its going to take a long time. You don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick anyway, and I'd be happy to delay the start of the 3rd round until the 13th.

OK! Here we go. The Draft Order. As I said, we're doing this NBA Lottery Style. The 6 teams that made the playoffs last year are automatically seeded 15-20 in reverse order from their final standings. Here they are:

15. Serenity (thepinjockey)

16. Brockvegas Posse (treble)

17. Landfall Jacobites (Verne Gagne)

18. John Galt Express (Stephen Joseph)

19. Infinie93Intensity (Cena's Writer)

20. Cranky Old Men (iggymcfly)

Now, for the rest of the teams, I used the same randomizer site I used last year, found here: http://www.mdani.demon.co.uk/para/random.htm

I assigned numbers to the remaining teams, again based on reverse standings:

THIS IS NOT THE DRAFT ORDER!!!

1. Cartman- Pawtucket Patriots

2. Jack Bauer-Formally Wart’s Whackos

3. Cuban Linx- Scott Boras Allstars

4. Razaztec- Midcard 4 Life

5. Deep_Thought- Stay the Course

6. Bored- Rebels of Oakland

7. Marvinsalunatic- NuclearChinlocks

8. Krankor- The Random Hero

9. Will Scarlet- Komijul

10. Canadian Chris- Team Canada

11. Precious Roy- Formally jwpeer

12. Fökai - Heavy Lumber

13. Kingofthe909- Kings of Crunk

14. MJ Styles- Rockbirds

I then asked to generate 14 integers between 1 and 14 with no repeats. I clicked "GO" one time and the resulting output resulted in the order:

10 11 8 6 3 9 12 2 4 14 5 13 7 1

Once again, I did not fair so well, which should provide further credibility that this was done fairly and honestly and I guess build credit for one of these days when I'm given a top draft number. This resulted in the following DRAFT ORDER:

1. Canadian Chris- Team Canada

2. Precious Roy- Formally jwpeer

3. Krankor- The Random Hero

4. Bored- Rebels of Oakland

5. Cuban Linx- Scott Boras Allstars

6. Will Scarlet- Komijul

7. Fökai - Heavy Lumber

8. Jack Bauer-Formally Wart’s Whackos

9. Razaztec- Midcard 4 Life

10. MJ Styles- Rockbirds

11. Deep_Thought- Stay the Course

12. Kingofthe909- Kings of Crunk

13. Marvinsalunatic- NuclearChinlocks

14. Cartman- Pawtucket Patriots

15. Serenity (thepinjockey)

16. Brockvegas Posse (treble)

17. Landfall Jacobites (Verne Gagne)

18. John Galt Express (Stephen Joseph)

19. Infinie93Intensity (Cena's Writer)

20. Cranky Old Men (iggymcfly)

Obviously you all can keep your team names or change them when we actually set up the yahoo league, but I'm just using last year's names for now to keep track of things.

Now, of course, because of our Keeper Rule, there will be different actual orders in many different rounds. SO, I thought about calculating it all out at once and posting it, before realizing this would be incredibly tedious for me and confusing for all of you to keep track of. SO, what we'll do is go round by round. I'll post the corrected Round 1 draft order, everyone will post their picks in order and then I'll log it and calculate Round 2's order, post it and then we'll continue in that way. By the way, we'll be following Yahoo's serpentine system so even if you're pickinglast, you'll be first every other round.

Here are the list of Unavailable players via Keepers, conveniently in alphabetical order. Please simply do a check of this list to make sure a player you want to draft is not already taken. I will update the thread as new picks are made, so they can be checked as well (Edit-Find on this page is a great quick way to check).

Um...why not just use the standings to determine draft order? Lottery's suck and the NBA draft sucks because of it.

By far the worst record and I get 14th? silly.

Yes but there are a few game breaking players availible right now that won't be at my pick. Just seems like a real raw deal for the worst team to get the worst pick of non-playoff teams.

Should we do up a seperate thread for the draft with the ongoing results in the first post? A little easier to follow then having people go to the middle of page 4 to see what their status is.

Cartman, I can understand, but he did it randomly. It hurts and helps people evenly over the years

Shenanigans.

Hurts me helps the establishment....what else is new.

Cartman- as mentioned its serpentine so it won't hurt or help anyone that dramatically. It was done this way for the benefit of fairness to our 2 new managers. They would be taking over for last year's departing 2 and it wouldn't be fair for them to inherit those positions nor would it be fair for me to assign which one gets the "high" draft position and the "low" position relative to each other. It was truly random and I hope you understand my intention.

Done. Continue picks and discussion in this thread though and we'll have the other one as an updated reference.

You think iggy still has anything to worry about?

Hah, I know. I've PMed Jack Bauer, he hasn't posted since Feb 1st. So...if anyone has any outside contact info for him, tell him to get his BUTT over here!
