WON News + Notes, 29th January Issue

Recommended Posts

As of this weekend they have four matches planned for Wrestlemania. Cena vs Edge vs Orton; Undertaker vs Batista; Hogan vs Shane McMahon with Khali in his corner; Shawn Michaels vs King Booker with Donald Trump managing Michaels and Vince managing Booker. That final match is still not a done deal, but the rest are seemingly in place.

Dave Lagana pushed hard for Monty Brown to keep his name, but Vince wouldn't listen to his arguments and decided Marquis Cor Von was the way to go. Brian Gerwitz wanted Brown on Raw, but Lagana did manage to convince Vince to put him on ECW saying he could be a big challenger for Lashley and the top heel on ECW. Arn Anderson and Fit Finlay have been pushing for Bob Holly to be ECW's top heel and have convinced Vince that was the direction to go, but Holly may have suffered nerve damage in his elbow from previous surgery and will need another operation and there's a chance his career may questionable so Monty Brown is there to plug in that spot if needed.

Vince McMahon went nuts at the 1/16 tapings. He was already mad about the New Years Revolution PPV. He hated the ECW TV show and was screaming that there was no one in ECW who knew how to work. He was especially angry about the main event as he felt Lashley sold far too much to be a credible champion on the same level as the Raw and SD champions. Arn Anderson got some heat as he was the agent for the match and argued that it was Test and RVD's fault as they felt they 'had to get their shit it'. Vince has said he never wants the ECW TV to go out live again so they can try and edit together a decent show. Dusty Rhodes has been moved to ECW to help Lagana with the creative on Lagana's request. Michael Hayes wasn't happy about the decision as Rhodes has been having a major influence on SD which has improved greatly in the eyes of the McMahons recently.

Sabu and Sandman are endangered species. Sabu doesn't like working when he can't do stunts and they've decided to not put him on the road anymore, and Sandman, although he's popular and still getting pushed right now, can't really do anything without his weapons.

The company is going all out to sign up RVD. Not because they want to keep him particuarly, but just to stop him going to TNA. RVD though gives the impression that he's as good as gone. Before the 1/16 show Vince and John Laurinaitis made a big speach about Sylvan being arrest for speeding as he was trying to get back from the gym to a show and as a result of that the boys are no longer allowed to go to the gym after checking in at the building. RVD then said, in front of Vince and in a very mocking tone "Johnny, can we go to the gym before we come to building?" He sounded like a little boy who's at his last day at a school so knows he can say what he wants to his teachers.

CM Punk's push is now completely dead. Almost nobody backstage likes him as they feel he's got an attitude that only the top guys should have. If he was a "top guy" like Kevin Nash people would think his comments were funny and cool, but as he's not a main eventer he's got an attitude problem. He won't be cut however as there is concern that he could become a star in TNA.

There are no plans for this years Hall of Fame to be on TV.

It has been confirmed that it is Shantelle Taylor in the Sensay suit.

There are plans to bring in mini's dressed as Vince and Donald Trump.

HBK Vs Booker sounds interesting but the storyline is going to be long, over done and flat out awful.

Just kill ECW and get it over with. Send the guys to the other two shows. They don't need a third brand and neither do the fans. Raw, SD, TNA and that MTV show is more then enough wrestling in one week.

I wish RVD would just say "Fuck it" and start acting out and see how far he can push it until they send him home and/or fire him. I really hope RVD does a shoot interview when he's finally done with this company.

Every week there is a different reason why Punk has heat. It's funny and sad.

The McMahon's been paying attetion to SD? Kiss that show goodbye.

Wrestlemania is going to suck royally this year.

ECW should be an endangered species. RVD is all but gone and wwe should be wary of even booking him anymore, as is Sabu and Sandman, their only real star in Punk is being depushed because of "attitude issues". Yeah, I want to see Test and Lashley, Striker and Burke.

The thing with Punk is is that he'd probably be happy working Japan and ROH, if not TNA. I mean he's not getting paid the big money in wwe yet so he wouldn't miss it if he was fired, as he coupd probably make comparible money in the indies. He's been exposed to the wwe audience now which will only help him money making ability in the indies.

If it's true(and I have no reason to think that those idiots wouldn't pull this) that Vince and crew are simply holding on to guys because they're afraid of what will happen when and if they go to TNA then I hope that RVD and Punk and whoever else reads this and just starts doing whatever they want. Punk and RVD should just request to work each other and then burn the house down every night.

"He could become a star... but we won't push him. We hate money."

It just keeps getting more hilarious!

I think the wwe is in real trouble given their current mindset and decision-makers full of yes men. I've been a fan for over 25 years and I really can't be bothered with the product anymore and basically follow via the internet. I've really been getting back into MMA ever since UFC got their SpikeTV deal and I don't think I'm alone. UFC is blowing wwe out of the water right now, and though VKM might say they are not in competition, I see them as direct competition and it's got to the point where trying to watch wwe is embarassing with all their toilet humor, embarassing skits and paint-by-numbers characters and matches. Their "acting" is worse than you get on bad porn.

I really can't understand why somebody would watch fake fights when you can get real fights, with real drama and just as big personalities.

Because all of those real fights are ALL the same and really really really really REALLY boring. Not saying that "fake fights" are any better, but at least the (on the most part) entertaining.

The whole CM Punk situation is beyond hillarious. With the excepetion of RVD, hes the most over star on the roster and will be untill hes gone. Why not push him? Becuase of attitude problems? Yet Randy Orten CONTINUES to fuck up and STILL gets pushed into the main event picture?

Wrong on all counts. WWE matches follow the same format week in and week out. UFC or any brand of MMA have such wide range of differences in the fights, it actually creates a fresh choice often. Sometimes you'll get a snoozer with MMA as you would with any sport.

Because the "fake fights" are more entertaining and sometimes more athletic than two guys rolling around on the mat, tangled up in pretzel formations and punching each other's kidneys. I just can't get into it and I've spoke to others who are the same way. UFC does a better job at telling stories on their tv shows, character development and building PPV matches but the 'real stuff' bores the shit out of me and I'll take colorful personalities, pre-determined matches and stunts over UFC or MMA any day - if only the creative aspect behind professional wrestling was better.

A wide range of differences in fights... all of which bore me.

Every week I read the WON posts and think that WWE can't get any more stupid...then I read the next weeks and it raises the bar for sheer stupidity.

I like how WWE pushed Michaels hard on Raw only to read that he's going to be put into another feud with Vince McMahon for the second Wrestlemania running.

Bob Holly, top heel? He's been with the company for around 13 years and achieved nothing. Suddenly, because the agents seemingly fear for their jobs, he's been touted as a top heel.

It's nice to see Arn Anderson passing the blame once again this week.

I feel sorry for Sabu and Sandman.

RVD and CM Punk need to get out of this company as soon as possible. They dropped the ball with RVD years ago and now they won't even bother to try and make Punk a star. Despite the fact that he's already over with the fans. But it's his own fault because he has an "attitude".

And don't forget the midgets. I'm sure they'll only serve to piss people off.

Finally, to those who wish to bash MMA. Don't do it in a WWE thread. Most WWE programming contains very bad in ring content that follows the same formula. At least MMA provides some variety.

EDIT: Thanks for posting these Decemberists.

Cena eating Superkick after aged Michaels carries him to **** match > aged Michaels carrying aged Booker to pointless *** gimmick match

Oh, well.

Taker wins the Rumble, obviously.

At least Booker T. wins a "Match of the Year" for PWI, since ANY Shawn Michaels match at Mania is an instant classic, according to PWI.

Shane's sell of the Big Boot could be the only one that rivals Michaels' from SummerSlam '05. We need Shane to bust out a standing shooting star as soon as the boot hits him.

This also means we once again get MCMAHONAMANIA on SNME.

That was pretty much what i was trying to say. But im not getting into an argument over it, because theres not much point. Id much rather discuss how stupid these notes on WWE are.

Oh, and thanks for posting these. I didnt thank you earlier.

God, I hate Arn Anderson. There's no way in hell Bob Holly could ever get over as a main eventer, I would say that I hope Bob's in-ring career really is over, just so WWE couldn't give him anymore un-needed pushes. But they would probably give him a job as a road agent where he'd be even more counter-active to a good product.

And CM Punk was getting over like no one else has in several years, until WWE's braintrust yanked the rug out from underneath him.

Wasn't Punk in TNA before? They had a chance to make him a star and blew it. What makes people think he will be a star if he went now? He'd be jobbing to Angle every night. Same thing with RVD.

They really need to cancel ECW. Put Velocity back on the air and in that time slot.

Everything I've read/heard about Finlay makes him out to be this giant retard, he's the same guy who thought ATrain should have been pushed ahead of Matt Hardy and Edge.

Anyone who knows Punks personality probably isn't shocked by this. The WWE "boys" and well people in general seem to think if you're a new guy you should be a little bitch. Let people disrepect you and downgrade you and just lower your head and take it.......and well that isn't Punk.

Punk pretty openly called TNA a joke and said he'd never go back after leaving there.....

If Anderson and Finlay argue that Holly should get pushed ahead of Punk because of tenure, what happens if Howard Finkel gets brought back for a gimmick match or something? Does he get to beat Batista because he's been around for twenty seven years while Batista's only been there for five?
