Guest treble charged Report post Posted June 12, 2002 Is there a difference between The Hives and The Vines? No, seriously, I can't see one (keep in mind, I've heard a total of one song from each of them).
Guest Renegade Report post Posted June 12, 2002 The White Stripes- I really dislike them, something very repetitive and annoying about them New Found Glory- Pop punk, its ok Tool- I thought Lataralus was a slight let down comapred to the sheer brilliance of its predecessor A Perfect Circle- Havent heard their stuff The Hives- Quite refreshing compared to what ive been hearing lately, good rock and roll The Vines- I almost fell asleep when listening to them..boring Blind Melon- Havent heard of them
Guest swan Report post Posted June 12, 2002 Blind Melon- Havent heard of them Really? I bet your under 21 yrs old. Lead singer Shannon Hoon came from Indiana, a friend of Axl Rose. Started up Blind Melon. Had a terrible herion problem that killed him. The band even attempted to hire a bodyguard to keep him away from drugs. Never seen the bumble bee video? I can hear the song in my head but can't think of the name for the life of me. Never was really into the music but I think they could of been something special. Kind of like a dead influenced grunge sound I guess. hard to describe but once you hear Shannon's voice you'd be able to tell them from any other band. They did a cool cover on the School House Rock CD.
Guest mesepher Report post Posted June 12, 2002 the song is called 'No Rain'
Guest Report post Posted June 12, 2002 The White Stripes - I absolutely hate the video for Fell in Love With a Girl...and it's very repetitive, as already said New Found Glory - Actually not that bad, better than Blink 182 and the other pop-punk "rebels" Tool - Everyone says that they're brilliant, but I don't see it. I haven't heard anything of Aenima, which is probably why I think they're overated. And the videos scare me. A Perfect Circle - Tool ripoff. That is all. The Hives - Good old fashioned rock music that's catchy The Vines - I have trouble keeping the Hives and The Vines apart....but then I remember that the Vines suck. Blind Melon - Did they have any other good songs besides No Rain?
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 12, 2002 The White Stripes: Following the coatails of the strokes. New Found Glory:Pop Punk Tool: Excellent band to see live. Undertow is one of the best albums ever. A Perfect Circle: Like Tool, APC are a great band also. Can't wait for their new album The Hives: Like White Stripes as well, following coatails of Strokes The Vines: Never heard of em Blind Melon: Heard of, don't know any of their songs, I might have though. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 12, 2002 White Stripes- Love the video; very brilliant and they have other good songs. NFG- im getting into them via the warped tour and theyre new album. Tool- greatest band of all time. Period. Excellent live and Maynard is the best vocalist ever. APC- Different from Tool; less hard rock. Theyre a softer band and the album is great. The Hives- Vedi Vidi Viscious is an awesome album. Really good live and the singer sounds like the guy from Buckcherry live. The Vines- good little australian band. Havent heard too much but i enjoyed what i have heard. Blind Melon-Tool may be the best band of all time but BM is my favorite. No Rain brought in alternative and started the end of most grunge. They were a great hippie band and Shannon is probably the 2nd greatest vocalist of all time. Their first album BLIND MELON is my favorite album of all time and their 2nd album Soup is also very good. Their last album Nico(named and dedicated to shannon's daughter Nico Blue Hoon) is very different and if he hadnt overdosed on Cocaine during the album, it would have been better. They released a greatest hits album called Classic Masters which is definitely worth checking out. Everything in that post is strictly my opinion BTW. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 12, 2002 Blind Melon- Havent heard of them Really? I bet your under 21 yrs old. I'm 16 and i got introduced to them about 4 yrs when MTV did the 100 greatest videos of all time and no rain was in the 20s. Its a great video but now knowing that Shannon was tripping on acid for the whole 2 day shoot just lowers it down for me. Another tragic rock and roll story. Guest Report post Posted June 13, 2002 The White Stripes New Found Glory Tool A Perfect Circle The Hives The Vines Blind Melon The White Stripes rock, Tool and the Hives are okay, everyone else is BLEH. The White Stripes: Following the coatails of the strokes. Oh, please. The White Stripes have been around longer than those overrated hacks the Strokes AND have three solid albums compared to that single shitty one from the Strokes. Guest Report post Posted June 13, 2002 The White Stripes New Found Glory Tool A Perfect Circle The Hives The Vines Blind Melon what is everyones opinion on these bands? White Stripes: LOVE EM New Found Glory:Some songs are good, some are horrible. Tool:1 of the best bands of all time. A Perfect Circle:Their alright. Maynard has 1 of thebest voices evar. The Hives:Their great. The Vines: Suck Blind Melon: Didn't really like them.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted June 13, 2002 White Stripes: Everyone tells me how good they are. I'm not really that into it. New Found Glory: Is this emo? Or just pop punk? Either way, I'm not that into it. It's okay, but nothing I'd actually spend money on to buy. Tool: 2nd best band ever (the 1st, of course, being NiN). Maynard is a musical genius. Alas, as usual, he's misunderstood by many. A Perfect Circle: ALMOST as good as Tool. They have a softer edge (they're the "feminine" side of the Tool theme, according to Maynard, who co-wrote most of the songs), and I can't wait for the second album, which is supposed to be darker in tone. I don't see how anyone can call them "failed", since they had a platinum album and a successful tour. A Perfect Circle - Tool ripoff. That is all. I don't quite see how they're a ripoff when the same individual behind Tool is behind this band. At worst that makes them a side project. A ripoff? No. The Hives: Another group I've heard good things about, but I haven't heard enough of their music to form a definitive opinion. I dig "Hate to Say I Told You So", though. The Vines: Never heard their stuff. Blind Melon: Died / broke up before they could impress me.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 16, 2002 The White Stripes: I like them. So far I like this whole "old school garage rock band" sound that seems to be a new trend. But since it now seems to be a trend i'm sure it will get old quick. New Found Glory: I don't hate all "pop punk" but i just can't stand the voices of these guys. Way too whiny sounding for my personal taste. Tool: They are very talented and i respect their talent, but i've just never really been a fan of them. A Perfect Circle: I like them alot. I just see them as Tool repackaged as something i like more then normal tool. The Hives: Never heard their music, but they seem to be a band like White Stripes. So like i said i currently enjoy this type of band. The Vines: Never heard their music, but they seem to be a band like White Stripes. So like i said i currently enjoy this type of band. Blind Melon: Only heard No Rain, but i like that song so i'm sure the rest of the stuff can't be too bad.
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted June 16, 2002 The White Stripes- "Fell in Love the Girl" is a catchy 1:47, but that's all I've heard from them New Found Glory- Sort of catchy Tool- Overrated, though I respect their abilities A Perfect Circle- A more palatable version of Tool The Hives- "Hate to Say I Told You So" rocks the house The Vines- Never heard anything from them Blind Melon- I've only ever heard "No Rain" and it is one of my least favorite songs ever. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 18, 2002 for everyone that downloads music, just to prove that blind melon rules and why they are my favorite band of all time: download: change sleepyhouse holyman their greatest sogns off their 1st album
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted June 19, 2002 I don't give a fuck about the rest of this stuff, but the White Stripes are a tremendous band. Their last two albums, De Stijl and White Blood Cells, are both really excellent garage rock records with a heavy blues influence. Don't judge them on their minute-and-fifty-second-long single and video (which are both terrific, by the way) because their music is a lot more varied than that would suggest. Plus, they fucking rock.
Guest Report post Posted June 19, 2002 Gotta change a few opinions, I watched All Things Rock on MTV on night and saw a few of these guys. New Found Glory-Just like every other band, nothing special. The Vines-Not my favorite but at least they're a group of fresh faces with an equally fresh sound.
Guest Report post Posted June 19, 2002 Tool is good, and New Found Glory are probably the best pop-punk band out there right now, im going to see them for the second time on the Warped Tour this year (them among with my other faves, Thursday, BR, Homegrown, and Lagwagon), if u like any pop punk at all pick up an NFG cd it is worth it. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted June 19, 2002 The White Stripes - Only heard one song, kinda fun. New Found Glory - Only heard one song, more than kinda fun. Tool - Really good. A Perfect Circle - Overrated. The Hives - Who? The Vines - Who?! Blind Melon - Eh.

Guest Tollie Report post Posted June 20, 2002 The White Stripes - If anything, the Strokes are riding THEIR coat tails...they've been doing it their way for years Tool - Really overrated. See: Alicia Keyes. The frontman has turned into a parody of himself. Used to be good. A Perfect Circle - The frontman from Tool head them up? The Hives/The Vines - whichever one does the foreign fish out of water gimmick are HI-larious...might be the same one that's on the I Am Sam soundtrack
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted June 20, 2002 The White Stripes - I've only heard the song that gets airplay on MTV, but I like it. I don't want to be bothered with getting other songs of theirs to see if I like them. New Found Glory - I haven't heard anything of theirs, so I can't judge them. Tool - Really talented band. I like them a lot. Very unique sound. A Perfect Circle - Remind me of Tool, but I don't like them as much. The Hives - n/a The Vines - n/a Blind Melon - I own the CD that has "No Rain" on it. It's an average CD. A few songs that never got any love from MTV or radiostations, but they were tolerable to say the least. A shame that the lead singer died so young.
