Wrestling moves we would miss

Recommended Posts

Guest

WWF(e) for years seem to have a block on a series of moves, things we may see in Japan or at least in other feds, but we wouldn't see at all or too often in the WWE and even if we did the Commentators who was too busy rehearsing the shilling for the next Hogan angle probably would get the names out.

We seen a few moves pop up out of no where

Val Venis's Nagata Lock

Edge's Reverse Sharpshooter, A Half nelson bulldog faceslam

William Regal Half nelson Belly back suplex

Jazz Fisherman's Buster

Eddie Guerrero Busting out the Vintage Gory material and the Inverted Surfboard/Dragonsleeper

Taker a Dragon sleeper

If you remember what the WWE wrestlers done before WWE what would you like them to do now a days?

Example..

Al Snow's Snow Plex, The Wheel barrow suplex, or Japanese Cyclone Cradiled Suplex.

Benoit's Dragon Suplex, Eddy's BT Bomb, Jericho's Liontamer, RVD's Van Terminator, Tajiri's Brainbuster DDT..

I know there's more, just can't think of them.

Tajiri's Brainbuster DDT

No such move, it's just a brainbuster (sheer drop brainbuster in Japan)

Tajiri's Springboard Asai Moonsault

Again, no such move.

An Asai moonsualt is a second rope spring board moonsault from the apron to the outside. Named after Ultimo Dragon who's real name is Asai.

I miss the plain ol' fashioned piledriver.

Damn Right.

Piledriver Piledriver Piledriver Piledriver Piledriver!

There's only one thing cooler than a piledriver.  An Inverted Piledriver (one more reason I miss Owen Hart.  WHAM!  Inverted Piledriver. Owen 3:16 says I just broke your neck).

RESURRECT THE PILEDRIVER!

(Hey, if Austin truly is running out/being run out of WWE, maybe with his sensitive neck gone the piledriver might come back...I can hope and dream, can't I?)

What about

Helms' X-Plex?

Kidman's SSP?

Shane McMahon's inverted 450?

There are a lot of moves...

I feel ya Brian, but just remember, end of the month, he RETURNS...yo.

Vince needs to trust his wrestlers, though. Maybe if he let them try out new things, the crowds would get more excited. Like if he let Benoit hit his hard-ass powerbombs, or let the high flyers fly. Being TOO careful leads to MORE injuries.

"Shane McMahon's inverted 450"

The fuck? When did he do that Tim?

And I want Benoit to just bring back the good ol' powerbomb.

Kidman's SSP?

Kidman does that in practically every match he's had since his return.

Isn't an inverted 450 a Shooting Star Press?  The same one Kidman does week in and week out.  Hell, he did a SSP Plancha recently!  I would love to see Benoit's tombstones come back along with Jericho's Liontamer.  The Wall of Jericho just isn't the same move.  The cradle piledriver would be great as well.  Tajiri's Brainbuster DDT, no such move?  No one said the DDT part......anyway, isn't it Chavo's finisher?  Can't have one guy doing a move as just a normal part of his set and another using it to finish people.  I do agree with Helm's X-Plex, or the Aztec Suplex or Straight Jacket Suplex or whatever it's called

In Inverted 450 is the Phoenix Splash.  Shane attempted it in his match with Test from SummerSlam '99 and missed.

Tajiri's Brainbuster DDT, no such move?  No one said the DDT part

El Psycho Diablo did.

Chavo has used a Tornado (really Swinging) DDT and a Brainbuster as his finisher

SSP = Reverse Inverted Moonsault

Inverted 450 is the Phoenix Splash

No, Inverted 450 is Sasuke's 450 Moonsault Senton,

A Phoenix Splash is a Moonsualt Twisted into a 450

I'm sure he got the "Brainbuster DDT" name from No Mercy.

Answer this then...whats the difference between reverse and inverted?

I miss the Tombstone piledrivers as well.

Northern Lights Bomb is only used when Al Snow goes over, and that don't happen much.

I agree with Risk about the stricking finishers.  I think Tajiri is the only one with his head kick unless you count Regal's brass knuck punch.  A roaring elbow would be nice.

Diamond Dust.  I loved that move in ECW and I credit Masato for getting me interested in Puro.  Mabey it's too close to a stunner

It is a Stunner, a Summersault Stunner.

Last week, or the week before, Hurricane gave (I think) Tajiri this weird move, kinda like a Gory Special but Tajiri was cradled between Hurricane's legs, and then Tajiri got his head whacked repeatedly against the underside of the bottom turnbuckle.

"Holy crap!" I says to my roommate. "I never saw that before!"

And then later that night I throw in the Pro Wrestling Superaddiction tape and it's in the first match (I think Mima Shimoda does it but I could be wrong).

All it really is, is a Surfboard variation. At times, I've heard the version Hurricane did called a Pendulum.

Answer this then...whats the difference between reverse and inverted?

Inverted is where your opponent's position is the other way around. For instance, instead of a Facelock, where the opponent looks towards the ground; an Inverted Facelock, is where the opponent looks up at the sky.

I always get the "Reverse" term screwed up though, and at times the "Inverted" term as well, as I've heard Inverted refer to the attacker's own position, and not of the opponent's, therefore not going in synch with my own Inverted definition... Help me out here, Dace. I'm sure that you know.

What was that move Chavo did a few weeks ago... emerald fusion?

Helm's does the Pendulem of Pain.

You stand over the opps. back, facinng their head while they are face down.

Reach back and hook their legs under your arms. Like a boston crab but facing the other face (inverted)

Reach forwards, grab their wrists and pull them up by their arms. Swing them back and forth with their arms/legs.

Answer this then...whats the difference between reverse and inverted?

Easy, it's the first thing you should learn about moves:

As KingofOldSchool said :

Inverted is where your opponent's position is the other way around. For instance, instead of a Facelock, where the opponent looks towards the ground; an Inverted Facelock, is where the opponent looks up at the sky. Or an Diamond Cutter is an inverted Neckbreaker, as the opp is looking down instead of up.

Reverse is when the motion of the move is reversed, done backwards. Eg, Jarret's Stroke is a Reverse Side Russian Leg Sweep, as he hooks then for a SRLS, then falls forwards, the oppisties, instead of backwards. Or a Reverse suplex, lift the opp. for a suplex, and fall forwards, slaming them on their get.

Reverse is offten misscalled with inverted, EG. Reverse DDT as called in the WWF, is an Inverted DDT.

What was that move Chavo did a few weeks ago... emerald fusion?

I don't the WWF would have let Chavo do an EF, it was either a misscall, or a very soft version.

The Emerald Fusion can be found in the WWF N64 and PSX/" games under the same name.

The attacker scoops the opp. over his shoulder, so they face the other way, head to the floor (like BullDog's Running Powerslam) The attacker then cradles one arm round the opps. upper body, and one roudn the head. Then sits down onto the side the opp is on, driving them onto the mat on their back/shoulders (it looks like it's their head, but it's not unless it's really stiff)

Anymore questions people?
