Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 So, this team from Ring of Honor is coming in to wrestle on March 17th for New Midwest Wrestling. I have never heard of the guys, but apparently they have some name value and will be the biggest thing to hit NMW since Jerry Lynn late last year. Can anyone tell me about them? Irish Airborne is a Ohio based tag team, more specifically the HVW. They are a pretty young set of brothers with a high flying style and they usually hit 60% of their elaborate spots. In ROH, they aren't booked as often as they once were and when they were, they were the jobber tag team. David Crist looks like a dead ringer for Randy Orton, probably more so then even Ken Doane did. Jake Crist, is the more talented of the two. It really depends who they work. They had a great match with the likes of The Briscoes and against Generation Next but I've seen them work some horrible talent (which, to be fair is probably what NMW has) they will probably get sloppy and miss their spots. If anything they are a good throwback to the Rock N Roll Express type tag team in that in between the spots, they work a good formula style match and with a good set of heels, they can really do something. NMW actually puts on better shows and has higher quality talent than the majority of American independent promotions. I appreciate your answer to my question, but that's a pretty asinine assumption. I just meant on the level of Austin Aries, Jay Briscoe and Christopher Daniels, whom they worked a good deal of matches with in ROH. It's hard to compare a small regional promotion that I'm sure is good with that but having seen them work other small regional promotions that don't have world class workers such as those aforementioned, and their work suffers because the skill level is lower. I wasn't trying to slight a promotion that I've never heard of, it's just when you look at their track record, they aren't at the stage to carry a match unless they have really good talent in the ring with them. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 All right... fair enough. The guys they are wrestling, the Hybridz, are 2 talented X Division style competitors who have worked all over the midwest, so it should turn out to be decent.
DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 They're young and they've got a lot of improvement to do. Their tag team finisher is bad ass if not a little contrived and ridiculous(A top rope double stomp-DVD-Lungblower?!). They also do way too many variations of a headlock takeover.
