I thought she was pretty good at the MTV Movie Awards, but when I saw her video today on MTV, it was....shitty. She looks like a girl from Becoming. (For those that don't know, it's a show where people pretend to be their favorite artist by dressing like them and starring in their own video.) Plus the fact that she has no rythym, so when she moved to the music, it looked very unnatural. I think she'll have a career because of daddy's money, not because of talent.

It's hard to tell how good someone is when you're getting a studio version...I heard her MTV shot was a lip sync.

 

The video did look very "Becoming"...looked homemade and had a budget of 20 bucks.

 

While it's not godawful...I'm not impressed...and I don't think she should be praised for doing a mediocer job...there are thounsands more who DESERVE a shot like that and will never get it cause some rich girl has a famous daddy.

you know how somepeople just don't have video pressence. You know, they look out of place and like they just really don't want to be there.  She is like that.  

 

I thought she had great stage pressence, but just horrible in the video.  The Performance at the MTV Movie Awards wasn't lipsynced, but you could hear her voice being synthisized.

She's got a decent voice (she's certainly no worse than Britney or Pink or "fill in the name of pop twat here"), and she DOES have the Ozzy name.  Her best asset is her mother, who can brawl with the best of them when it comes to recording deals.  So maybe she has a shot.

 

She doesn't have the look or the presence to last long though.

Kelly Osbourne didn't look so bad the second time I saw the video. It's obvious that they used studio magic to change her voice, because I watched the Osbournes alot and it doesn't soun dlike her. I think she just didn't look very good in that dress she had on.

Kelly has a dad whos famous and a mom whos the biggest dick in the music industry so of course her daughter will get a video and a musical career break long before anyone with real talen will. God I knew of local bands who would go on the road 180 days a year and they rocked harder then Kelly and Ozzy combined but have recieved no air play or anything yet are far superior then either of them. Kelly Osborne is a joke 100% who only got on air because of her parents, she hasnt toured, she hasnt been in a local band, the only thing she has is parents who can get her what she wants.

Its celebrity breeding clebrity...and that is fucking sick

 

And every time they play her video, they could be giving someone else, who you know, writes plays and produces their own music, a break. Every time Britney's newest video airs, probably 20 times a DAY, they could have played 19 OTHER videos instead. Seriously MTV's video library is in the millions by now, yet they refuse to play 90% of it, either because they werent paid enough, its not pop, or its different. Yet Sledgehammer by peter gabriel is different and kicks more ass then 99.9% of any video from the 90's on forward.

 

But MTV isnt just a tv station, there a major part of a conglomerate, which makes them evil. they are also the number 1 force in determining what is in and popular, instead of ya know, people choosing for themselves. MTV shows only what it wants and is paid to show. Take ICP for example, got that glorious 6am slot for their video, ran 30 times tops, old Marilyn Manson got even less. Yet both guys have sold MILLIONS of records. Ever notice how most radio is DOMINTATED by whats on mtv? thats fucking sickening. God I remember Nickleback BEFORE they had a video. Awesome band and sound, now its all over played and they teamed up with saliva, who will last till about 2003, tops

 

Um, madonna wrote the song, I dont know whatelse ur talking about. They had Kelly sing it because mommy got her the gig to do it because mommys little girl wanted to be a rock star like daddy.

 

Atleast Jack knows-his-role and is a talent scout, instead of trying to be all over the tv. he's a young male, who can scoutn out bands that young males will probably like, smart boy. And hes a pot head to boot.

I find the prospect of Jack Osbourne being a talent scout a lot more frightening than Kelly Osbourne releasing a totally innocuous single. That's just one song. Can you imagine the horrors that pudgy bastard is going to bring into the mainstream, based on some 15-year old whim? That's like Stephanie being the head writer. Nepotism just upsets me to no end. For some reason, I was under the impression that someone else was supposed to sing "Papa Don't Preach" for the soundtrack, and Kelly ended up singing it. That was the story they told during the behind the scenes special of maiking of the video. I agree with you on many points, and I dislike the abundance of pop music and the fact that the suits are forcing people to listen to a bunch of crap on the radio and television. My point of contention was the fact that Kelly Osbourne isn't the only pop singer out there. Everybody in music seems to have a gimmick. Her gimmick is the fact that she's Ozzy's daughter. Even someone who doesn't have a gimmick uses the fact that they have no gimmick as a gimmick. I could be wrong, but I see Kelly Osbourne as a harmless person. I can't see anyone rushing to buy a Kelly Osbourne CD and if she flops, Ozzy only has one other chid. There are many more pop singers being manufactured by the suits than by Ozzy's loins.

 

I also found the fact that Jack was supposed to be a talent scout somehwat laughable. It seems like he's playing at it instead of actually having to do it to put clothes on his ass. I think he's being played by his talent too. They may or may not be talented, but they will probably get a shot because they're Jack Osbourne's group. They seem like a bunch of guys who are pretending to be friends with a rich kid so that they can get some of what he has. Jack was standing around looking like he was happy to be with his group because it made him feel like less of a loser. I'm not saying that he actually is a loser, but he looked like one while trying to siphon some of the coolness from his band (not to say that they have any). Left to their own devices, the Osbourne children will only last so long. Sharon Osbourne will eventually have to face the fact that her kids aren't the most wonderful, talented superstars to ever be born. Since their are only two of the children and they look like they are trying to cash in on the success of a 10 episode reality show, I'm not really worried about them adding to the ruination of music. I'm more worried about the hordes of clones that are constantly being produced with the sole purpose of strip mining music.

The Carpenters? Some of their stuff was kind of insipid, but there's some really excellent songwriting and fantastic production in their catalog. If you want "the downfall of music" from that same period, look no further than the awful fucking mainstream rock music being made in the mid to late 70s.
