Guest alfdogg Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Gillberg and Cpl. Kirschner were supposed to be in it? OMG was supposed to be Akeem, but his costume didn't fit?
Guest Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Yeah, they took Gillberg out because they didn't want the people chanting for/expecting Goldberg ala the situation with Brockberg. I remember Kirschner being in the promotional stuff.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Yes I did know that.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 OMG was supposed to be Akeem, but his costume didn't fit? wtf, they couldnt fit him in a blue mumu? thats all the costume was!!! go to the mall buy a xxl blue mumu, a yellow sash and stop by any trendy african goods store and buy a hat. i still laugh at why the shiek won.. maybe hacksaw could have given him a puff to "work through the pain"

Guest Frankie Williams Report post Posted June 13, 2002 MR.X or Super Ninja Screw them. You cant tell me that BattleKat wouldnt have added another 500,000 buys!!!
Guest Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Even though I'm a John Tenta mark, I wish one of either two things would have happened: Natural Disasters appeared together. The Shark and the Shockmaster would fight each other.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 i would have marked out little a 5 year old little girl with a skinned knee if brutus "the barber" beefcake had been in the battle royal. so who was everyone cheering for in the battle royal? personally I would have liken to have seen doink or earthquake win. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 but what if it came down to luke and butch as the last two guys? i'm guessing they would starting licking each other and then march out of the ring.
Guest scratch Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Screw them. You cant tell me that BattleKat wouldnt have added another 500,000 buys!!! BattleKat, aka Brady Boone died in 1998, I believe, in a car crash. He would have been perfect for the Battle Royal. BTW, I was at Wrestlemania X-7, and Hillbilly Jim got one of the loudest pops of the night!! I was amazed!! --Scratch
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 must have felt good for hillbilly jim to get that big of pop from today's fans.

The shirt was way too big as were the tights. The gang wrestles near where i live often and he has lost alot of weight and hair.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 they could have got stuff as well my main point was it shouldnt be that hard of an outfit to make a fascimle of.
Guest Frankie Williams Report post Posted June 13, 2002 BattleKat, aka Brady Boone died in 1998, I believe, in a car crash. He would have been perfect for the Battle Royal. I know but...Bob Bradley took over for Boone as BattleKat. They could have thrown the mask on him.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Yeah they could have converge. Vince is mighty cheap for one time things so i dont blame him there. Are you sure about that Frankie? Didnt bob bradley go on to become Balls Mahoney? I dont think balls would have looked well in battlekat's outfit.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 i thought boo bradley became balls mahoney.

Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Any reason why the Gooker's costume was different in the Battle Royale?
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 The original was likely destroyed. What's scary is that I saw a Wrestlecrap page and Gobbledygooker made another appearance after SurSer '90! He was with Koko B. Ware. The Birdmen...what a team that would've been. Whoa nellie.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 I wanted Cornette to win.
Guest JMTapes Report post Posted June 14, 2002 There was also a Gooker Vignette with the Bushwackers. I'm gonna put both of those up on Kazaa at some point. -Jim www.jmtapes.com
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 i wish koko would have been entered in the battle royale too. i know the birdman would have gotten a nice pop that night.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Whoa that would be a huge markout moment if Koko has brought Frankie down to the ring. Man that would have ruled.
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 I was thinking that current Superstars should have made appearances in former gimmicks: HHH: Greenwich Snob Hunter Steve Austin: Ringmaster Undertaker: Ministry verion of the Taker The Rock: Rocky Steven Richards: Big Stevie Cool Farooq: Nation Farooq or Gladiator Farooq Godfather: Should have been cloned so he can figth Papa Shango, the Goodfather, and Kama. Bull Buchanan: Recon E & C: Brood Members
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Oh man if big stevie cool came out (the whole BWO for that matter) that would be a huge markout moment, Gladiator Farooq... nothing to say but lol. I would like to have seen papa shango as well.
Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted June 14, 2002 As a Papa Shango mark, seeing him in the Battle Royale woulda been the shiznit

I always liked The Gobbledygooker, even though I'll be the first to admit his Survivor Series intro ran WAAAAAAAYYYYY too long. At first it was cute, and if it hadn't been pushed so much or lasted so long I bet it would've caught on. I know I was rooting for The Gobbledygooker. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 what the fuck was he intended to be? you certainly can't wrestle in a suit like that so was it just a new mascot debuting or what?
Guest Steve J. Rogers Report post Posted June 15, 2002 what the fuck was he intended to be? you certainly can't wrestle in a suit like that so was it just a new mascot debuting or what? Pretty much yeah, He was supposed to be the Survivor Series mascot (back when Survivor Series ran on Thanksgiving night, now he'd be used on Smackdown) but I guess it got so universally panned as being way over-the-top cartoonish (and this was the same night classic Taker debuted which was ALSO an over-the-top cartoonish character (Prince of Darkness-Ministry Taker was more sci-fi/fanasty heel than a cartoon) ) that they shelved the whole gimmick and apparantly destroyed the costume (BTW the guy in the original costume was said to be Hector Guerrero, I don't know who was in there at the Battle Royal) Steve
