Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 It's official, go to the main page and it says it right there. I'm not sure if this is still a work or what, but it sounds like he's suspended.
Guest Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Therefore, Stone Cold Steve Austin is no longer an active member of WWE’s talent roster. That doesn't mean they fired him.
Guest Mole Report post Posted June 14, 2002 This is the whole thing from WWE.com: "Stone Cold Steve Austin walks On March 18, 2002, the day after WrestleMania, without company approval and without notice, Stone Cold Steve Austin walked off the job and failed to appear at WWE’s Raw show in Montreal. Stone Cold Steve Austin was advised by WWE management that this was unprofessional and unacceptable. After a two week hiatus, Austin returned to work. On Monday, June 10, 2002, Stone Cold Steve Austin again failed to appear for the scheduled Raw event in Atlanta, instead choosing to return home to San Antonio without notice and without company approval. Although Steve was unhappy with his character’s creative direction, Steve made the personal and unprofessional decision not to report to work to address his concerns. Therefore, Stone Cold Steve Austin is no longer an active member of WWE’s talent roster." Sounds like he is fired to me.
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Sounds like he is fired to me. If they had flat-out fired him, they would've said the same thing that they said when they fired Scott Hall, you know, the "we have mutually agreed..." line. If this keeps up, they probably will fire him down the line, but, as that carefully worded statement displays, they don't want to do it just yet.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted June 14, 2002 They're not going to fire him. It's a work.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted June 14, 2002 I think Vince would rather keep paying Austin's downside guarantee than flat out fire him and see him go to NWA-TNA. That doesn't mean this is a shoot, but if it were, it would make some sense for Vince to not release Austin entirely.
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 They're working us. They've never written up a "so-and-so has left us" story like that before. Besides, he still shows up on the Raw website.
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 They're working us. They've never written up a "so-and-so has left us" story like that before. Besides, he still shows up on the Raw website. Well with all due respect, there's a big difference between Steve Austin and Scott Hall, Curt Hennig, Jeff Jarrett in terms of star power and imporance. It's obvious that a more elaborate story would be written up for Austin But yeah, I'm skeptical. I think for the most part it's a shoot, but I don't think they'll completely release him from his contract. Why would Vince want to do that, because all it would take for the NWA to become a force, is for Austin, with his name and star power, to jump ship. But hey, Foley is still under contract or at least was up until two months ago, so Austin can still remain under contract and not do anything

If they had flat-out fired him, they would've said the same thing that they said when they fired Scott Hall, you know, the "we have mutually agreed..." Thats not correct, because if you are told your fired, it isnt anything that is mutual. I was fired recently and there was nothing mutual about it. I still think its a work, and have from the start. It will be interesting to see how it is portrayed on SD and on Confidental. It certainly isnt a good buisness move, but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Well, there you go. Good job Vince. I really hope that making your bitch of a daughter and her asshole boyfriend happy was worth it. I really do.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 14, 2002 ummm anglesault considering they're on seperate rosters- what does SCSA leaving have to do with Triple H?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Actually...Quite a bit IMO. Austins gone...Rock is out... HHH has to be happy. Hes the only top guy left.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 14, 2002 nobody left to steal his spotlight now, which means NO MORE FUCKING EXCUSES!!! if KotR fails to draw it is trips' fault and nobody elses, none of the other top draws are on the card, and the show is being effectively sold on trip/taker. although if it doesnt draw, trip could blame hogan, getting him depushed... nah, its that damn jericho, its always jericho!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 That is the honest truth VAnilla Midget. You reap what you sow. No Austin, No Rock. Angle and Jericho are jokes. RVD has no direction (IC title...in the tourney?). Booker is a comedy jobber. The active members of the nWo are Big Show and XPac and the Hogan expertiment has gone...poorly. HHH is the #1 face. FINE. Now you draw a buyrate. ALONE.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Hey, HHH isn't the only top guy left here's a list of the others: Undertaker - Boy, is he better then ever, you've got to really be on top of your game to run with the big dogs like HHH. Jericho - No, no nevermind he's in the midcard feuding with Val Venis, and wrestling with other guys who are below IC level. Kurt Angle - Wait a minute he got beat up by HHH through most of the handicap match and got his pants pulled down AGAIN, just lost a feud with Edge, and is now trying not to get punked out by Hogan. RVD - Until the IC title got in his way to the top. I bet he still has a knot on his head from that. Stone Cold - Hey here's one guy that will never leave the top of the card, well hold on I guess he just left the company (I don't agree with how he handled things, and I still think it's a shoot) because of the writers. I'm sure I forgot some others, there are just so many top guys right now.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 14, 2002 hhh doesnt need the hhhaters to point out his inadequacies, if this ppv goes like all are predicting, we will have some definite numbers to prove the failure that is the face hhh.

Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 14, 2002 its totally a work, hopefully upon his return, austin can collaboratise with booker t to put him over some, cos its painfully apparent that hbk just wants to steal his heat.
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted June 14, 2002 So...what will Austin do after his "surprise" comback? Bring in Bichoff? Kick Micheals ass? Absolutly nothing?

Guest Shadow Report post Posted June 14, 2002 If HHH doesn't draw for KOTR, he should turn heel. I agree with you. He's better off as a heel anyway. HOWEVER, you still can't blame all of the down-turn on the HHH face run. WWE was losing ratings before Triple H ever came back, and they lost a lot of fans in the entire Alliance debacle- and as I recall, Hunter wasn't even a part of that. I still feel that if HHH had turned face when he ran down that rampway on the Raw after WMX7, the face turn would have worked fine and wouldn't have hurt the company. As for Austin: Fuck him. If he wants to be an unproffesional jerk-off, than good riddiance. I don't care how he feels about the WWE's current direction, he shouldn't walk out like he did. If it is a work, it's a damn elaborate one.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 14, 2002 The "it's a work" people never seem to explain how an angle like this can be explained to those without internet access. Except for a Confidential story, and we'll have to see it to get the full picture, a work like this just wouldn't come across well to those who don't go online. Except for a Confidential story, and we'll have to see it to get the full picture, a work like this just wouldn't come across well to those who don't go online. Ah, but isn't that the beauty of it? For those without online access; all they know is that "Austin didn't show up and he isn't happy." Nothing new for Austin's character right? So why would any non-internet fan think any more of the situation other than that it's "just another storyline." This is all very interesting to me. I feel that the whole situation is real, but the WWE is playing smart and turning it into an angle just in case........I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Anyone who doesn't go online has no idea of Austin's problems, so who would plan an angle like this? I guess there will always be people who are so afraid of having the wool pulled over their eyes that they will believe anything is a conspiracy. There are still people who think the Bret Hart thing was a work.
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 It seems to me like they either want him to quit, or come back and get his ass kicked by Brock on both shows every week. Of course, they don't know which one he'll pick, so they are choosing thier words miiiiiiighty carefully.
Guest justcoz Report post Posted June 14, 2002 I would like to think this is a work and leading to the biggest angle since Bret screwed Vince. I would like to think that with Confidential the WWE suddenly feels that that they can play this show for both smarks and marks and I personally hope it pulls a huge number (also for Bobby The Brain which I know is going to choke me up as well as any kid who grew up on the WWF). I've been wanting the WWE to work the smarks and use their internet site and online gossip as a vehicle to create interest, generate talk and boost the lines storyline creativity. Basically screw the Meltzers, Ryders, Scherers and Kellers by using them and their desire to "break the news" to their creative advantage. Let everyone think that Austin is gone to have him come with Bischoff. It would be classic. However, if this is real, I think the time has come for action to be taken against Austin as his acts are completely selfish and VERY unprofessional. Like they said, be a man and a good employee and discuss your unhappiness. JUSTCOZ PITTSBURGH NET RADIO Pittsburgh has a music scene... NOW CAN YOU DIG THAT SUCKA!!! Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 14, 2002 watched a wee bit of Smackdown and it seems to me with all this "nostalgia funk" WWE is missing its chance with Real Wrestling TV...not Real TV .......but REAL WRESTLING TV. Here’s my suggestion, for what its worth, for Austin regaining his edge - The “Auzzie” Austin Show – where Steve becomes a true hero who talks shit to his boss about past wrongs, transgressions, only this time for real, with plenty of fly-on-the-wall honesty. First “Auzzie” confronts VKM about bringing in the NWO failure, all wasted cash money. VKM likes people to know he's flush with billions??... Auzzie is cool getting in the boss’s pocket and hits McMahon up for a little extra? "Hey Vince, I'm caught a little short tonight. Payoffs are down. How ‘bout throwing some cash at Steve here for a change..... ?” VKM tells him Sorry, but he's got new expenses with Shawn Michaels coming in – “ HBK?... WHAT!!! …You gonna hire him again?…. WHAT??…, that prima donna......back here in WWE? WHAT??” So Auzzie spins Davey Boy’s death back to the famous "battle of the two door." That’s the time a group of young, drunk, rowdy marines, whiskeyed up and out to prove their masculinity, beat the hell out of HBK and left the WWF Superstar lying in the gutter! Davey was stuck in the back of the small car but managed to scramble out and clean house on the guys, with only a scratch to his eye. The Nasty Boys heard it and spread it at Center Stage. And we all had a laugh at Shawn’s misfortune, at the same time thinking ‘glad it wasn't me’.. . So Auzzie gives the Bulldog his respect and true hero that he is, wins over the office (happy) and the boys (happy). In reality, he's the only one the guys like - a macho, bald, bad ass....
