The “X Title” will signify the best in a style of competition, showcasing the best aspects of the evolution of the wrestling business during the last decade. Competition for the “X Title” will not be limited by weight classification, but will represent a style of wrestling that showcases the high-flying, daredevil, death-defying action that fans can expect to see anytime the “X Title” is on the line. “This title will showcase the pinnacle of athletic ability in the ring,” says NWA TNA star Jerry Lynn. “From the names that NWA TNA already has on their roster, the “X Title” will signify what Total Nonstop Action is all about.” " Also, NWA vice prez Bill Behrens had this to say on a message board: "Want to run idea by you, the X TITLE....defined by lucha, strong style, Japan, Catch as catch can, and includes AJ STYLES, JERRY LYNN,DAVID YOUNG, K KRUSH, LOW KI, JOEY MATTHEWS, CHRISTIAN YORK and others. Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 damnit they stole my idea j/k in fantasy scripts i used to write i had a title called the X title. it was a combination of Hardcore and Cruiserweight. Basically like an ECW style of wrestling championship. More focus on the wrestling, less of the garbage hardcore stuff, but still some hardcore spots to give it a dangerous edge to go along with the excitement. the name was aplay on Extreme, Excitement and in the vein of the X games.
