Scroby 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2007 Here are the results of the St patty's day show. I copied these straight from a CCW source so I didn't have to type it all out. St Patrick's Day Fever was running as hot as the temperatures were over at the FDES Hall in Newman, CA on Saturday night March 17th - but nothing compared to the hot wrestling action that the 220 fans witnessed at the California Championship Wrestling show! The first match featured a Triple Threat match between Kenny K and his agent (Shawn Stevens) as a last minute substitution for Bonzai Bruce, along with Ryan Drago & El Chupacabra. The match featured back and forth brawling, high flying and death-defying moves from all 3 participants, including some very impressive spinning kicks and 360 moves by Kenny K and "Chupy", the obvious fan favorite! However, the big man in the match, Ryan, was able to toss Kenny K outside the ring and take advantage of a weakened knee of El Chupacabra, making him submit to a modified figure-4 death lock. Ryan showed his obvious frustration on hearing the fans taunt him continuously throughout the match, and he made poor Chupy bear the brunt of his poor sportsmanship. After the match, he beat up on the already weakened knee of the fiesty luchador, and wrapped his knee up on the outside ring post with an outside figure 4. Ring security was called but it was too late and Chupy may have suffered a critical, long term injury to his already weakend knee. CCW hopes all the best to Chupy in his ability to recover from this injury. The next match featured two of CCW's biggest men, Old School Oliver John vs the 7' tall 350 lb Buddy Bodyguard, Mr. Massacre, the "crown jewel" of the Sotello Syndicate...Buddy stayed in the commentator booth, indicating that he had some sort of "vulcan mind meld" with Mr. Massacre that allowed him to control him without being ringside. All that aside, the meld must not have been working to full extent, because Oliver took early advantage on the big man, including being the first CCW competitor to knock Mr. Massacre over the top ring rope and out to the ring floor. The match continued to be full of firsts for the masked assasin, as Old School Ollie was able to lift the big man and suplex him outside the ring and deliver several devastating slams. Just when it seemed that Oliver was going to completely devasate Mr. Massacre, including tossing him off the top rope, Massacre raised his knees up during an attempted Oliver John splash off the ropes. Massacre then set up Oliver for the most devastating finishing move in CCW, the Masscare Slam, a modified chokeslam/powerbomb. Massacre's sheer size and power in this move was enough to finish off the popular grappler and Oliver unfortunately suffered a rare loss with CCW much to Buddy's enjoyment in the commentator's booth! The next match featured the Brownsnake Jesus Kruz seeking to redeem himself against his humiliating loss vs Mother Truckin Otis. The jovial hauler was more than willing to oblige Kruz in another tussle, this time dispatching of Kruz in an even easier fashion, knocking him flat as a pancake with his recognized finishing move, the Gotter-Dun! The fans were on their feet in anticipation of the next match featuring CCW's first Westside Title Defense with the newly crowned Virgil Flynn as champion! R-Cayde was deemed to be the challenger for the night and came equipped with a new item, a "Shield of Zelda" made of solid steel-- obviously brought to the ring to give him an advantage (and not just against roaming digitzed dragons and aliens!). Virgil was not going to play the game that R-Cayde wanted to make Virgil a part of; Virgil countered all of R-Cayde's in-ring (and out of the ring) trickery and gadgetry with high flying, solid wrestling including his patented cannonball drop and his standing tarantula clutch... Just when it looked like R-Cayde was all but done for, R-Cayde reached for his power glove-- this time R-Cayde had a true "cheat code" up his sleeve-- while the ref was checking the powerglove, R-Cayde threw a pair of brass knuckles in the ring and then feigned injury. The ref saw the knuckles and believed R-Cayde's B.S. story that he was hit by Virgil by them. The ref felt he had no choice but to disqualify Virgil even though appeals from the fans and an appearance of the CCW Champion Vinnie Massaro on his behalf were made. R-Cayde remained a top contender to Virgil's Westside championship but Virgil remained the champion, because a title in California Championship Wrestling does not change on a disqualification or countout without special stipulations. After a brief 15 minute intermission, the crowd braced itself for what would feature 4 of the most brutal brawlers that CCW has to offer: "Rock Legend Scum" Adam Thornstowe and "Showtime" Shane Dynasty vs The Reno SCUM, Malachi & Luster the Ledgend with Buddy Sotello ringside. Shane came to ringside with the defunct GZW title belt (minus the GZW sticker) and announced that he was the official "DEAD FED" champion of all the dead California wrestling federations out there. While annoucing this to the fans, he was unceremoniously Pearl Harbored by Malachi & Luster. Luster was particularly viscious (how can you tell?) this evening, and uncorked a variety of moves on Shane including a vintage airplane spin, giant swing, and scorpion death lock. However, when Shane was able to get the tag to Adam, all hell broke out in the ring and the action became crazy, spilling outside the ring and into the chairs sending wrestlers, fans and nachos everywhere. Meanwhile, Buddy, who has an eye for gold, was fondling the Dead Fed title and probably thinking about using it as a weapon, when Shane came from behind and grabbed his belt back and whalloped Luster the Legend square in the middle of his mohawk. Luster went down hard and Shane acheived the pin on the Legendary one. The quick-thinking Shane then tossed the belt to a stunned Buddy Sotello, who truly looked like he had been stuck with the cat in the bag when Malachi came back to the ring from battling Adam. As Luster regained his bearings, Malachi accused Buddy of using the belt to hit Luster. A frightened buddy was shoved into the corner by Malachi and Luster who were on the verge of pounding the daylights out of their manager, when he reminded them of their pithy motto..."You guys may break the necks, but I WRITE YOUR CHECKS"...And proving that money speaks louder than words, he promised to add a little more to their pay day if they'd spare him his hide this evening. That seemed to work for the Reno scum, who grudgingly decided to let Buddy leave the ring intact (much to the disappointment of the fans who never stopped chanting "Buddy Sucks" the entire time he was ringside!) The evening culminated in the main event's fan-demanded rematch between Wrestling Personified Rik Luxury and The Champion Vinnie Massaro. Rik came to ringside being hailed from Dublin Ireland and sporting a green hat and shamrock-embroidered tights, reminiscent of Erin O' Grady from independent wrestling history's past days. However Rik was here for his own pot of gold in the form of the CCW Heavyweight title, but Vinnie is no leprechaun. Massaro would have none of Rik's shenanigans on St Patricks' eve but Rik was going to have the luck of the Irish on his side no matter what... During the match surprisingly R-Cayde showed up ringside with his Zelda Shield and while the ref was distrated, used it to clobber Massaro flat in the face and knocked him senseless while he was inbetween the middle ropes. Massaro was shoved out of the ring by Rik who was awarded a win in the match when Vinnie was unable to return to the ring by referee Guido's 10 count. Rik had done something no other wrestler had done in CCW's history-- beaten Vinnie Massaro-- but the victory was phyrric in the sense that like R-Cayde earlier, the countout was not enough to award the coveted CCW title to Mr. Luxury...Still Rik was not finished with the downed champion-- he and R-Cayde lashed out at the prone Vinnie and started laying some serious wood to the champ in the form of kick, punches and stomps-- when in charged Virgil to even the odds, swinging his Westside title as a whip to clear the ring. Virgil and Vinnie stayed inside while R-Cayde and Luxury taunted the champions outside-- and made a challenge. At the next show, Vinnie and Virgil will take on R-Cayde and Luxury in a tag team match up-- if the V's (Vinnie & Virgil) win, the R's (R-cayde and Rik) will lose any chance at either title belt for the remainder of 2007...If the R's win, the V's will have to square off against each contender in a stipulation match of the R's choosing! The fans agreed with Virgil and Vinnie that this would be the best way to settle the score, and so a main event for next month was made! California Championship Wrestling wants to thank the town of Newman again for their hospitality and looks forward to seeing everyone again for phenomenal set of matches coming up on April 21st, 2007! Visit www.californiachampionshipwrestling.com for further details or check back here for more info on the card soon! Overall a fun show and I got to Ref the Triple Threat and also the Tag team match, both were really fun for me to Ref as it as my first time Ref'ing a triple threat and the tag team match was just crazy.
