Guest frenziedme Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven looked pretty good on smackdown tonight. He pulled off a nice missle dropkick and took a good bump a the end. I'd like to see him fight someone other than the Undertaker though. Angle could carry him to a good match. Any thoughts?
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted February 15, 2002 maven has enormous potential and talent, but there is no way he should be working with/against guys like jericho/angle/trips yet. he should go back down to HWA and work and learn some more moves and stuff. i was quite impressed though that he did a german suplex, and of course, his dropkick of death is very nice. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Yeah, Maven has the potential, but I'd really like to see him develop a complete moveset. I'd even like him to start demonstrating the ability to do a fireman's carry or suplex or even a basic submission maneuver. Right now his only sig. is a dropkick. At least he's not Eric Watts! Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted February 15, 2002 yeah, but the guys only been in the business under a year, and you have to learn to walk before you can run. thats what i mean about him needing to go back to the minors, he needs time to develop before he can become a permanent part of the main roster. Guest TheBigBadBootyDaddy Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven fucking sucks. He's going to be the next rockys jobbing bitch road dogg wrestler within the year
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted February 15, 2002 He needs to show that he has basic wrestling ability. I mean he's had a good long while to train. I have friends who've trained for a few days that have a more complete moveset than Maven does. He has potential but he's never going to be that great. Guest Big Poppa Popick Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven now has a decent german suplex, a good spinning heel kick, and a dropkick, both standing on the matt and from the top rope, he's also got a crossbody Don't you get it, he's learning? His gimmick is that the crowd is watching him learn, he isn't coming in with full moveset and finisher, but it will all develop, and the crowd will help dictate it Maven will be a breakout star, I said that when i first saw the first show of Tough Enough
Guest Rabies Report post Posted February 15, 2002 There are more wrestlers in HWA/OVW and even UPW that are much more deserving. As soon as Tough Enought 2 bombs (in which I think will) all TE winners (including Maven & Nidia) will go down to the farm leagues for about a year and the scouts will see if the WWF were just wasting their time with these TE winners in the first place. That's the reality (Well, my own that is).
Guest Carbon Tiger Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven has potential I can see that. However he doesn't deserve to be in the WWF right now. give him 2 or 3 years in HWA/OVW to train and devolpe as a wrestler. There are atleast 2 dozen guys more diserving of his spot. Vince is just using him to hype that stuipid reality show.
Guest KingOfMen Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven has charisma coming out of his ass. He bumps good, the moves he does are good. He just needs another good year of seaoning in the farm leagues with occasional TV appearances to keep him fresh in the viewers minds. If he develops more ( i.e. go see HHH's doctor) he will be a huge star.
Guest gilpdawg Report post Posted February 15, 2002 He's got potential, but I don't see him ever being more than mid-card, and hopefully once this angle with the Taker blows off, hopefully soon, he'll be back down with Thatcher in HWA to learn some more. In a year or two, he could be a great worker, he's got all the basic skills. He's just too damn skinny to ever be a star, and you know how the WWF hates the little people. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted February 15, 2002 He's going to make it IMO. The fans want to cheer for this guy because he is one of us. He has a good look, and is showing some potential all ready.
Guest Hit Squad Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven can make it, just give him some time.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted February 15, 2002 He's more over then half the roster. He did some very, very nice moves on SmackDown! last night. With those alone he's better than half the WWF roster as it is. And look at it this way; he hasn't had a chance to show any moves he knows ther than the couple he got to bust out. He gets squashed, and isn't allowed any offense. And I'm willing to bet he has a nice one, if he got to show it. Mic skills, he has hardly any... But I imagine in time he'd be decent enough. Guest alexcc79 Report post Posted February 15, 2002 Maven impressed the hell outta me last night. And whoever said that his gimmick is to learn in front of us....I agree wholeheartedly. Thumbs up for Maven's effort.
Guest Ulf ist Gut Report post Posted February 16, 2002 At least he gave us a new face in the smackdown tag main events instead of the same old shit they wheel out every week ps Ulf ist Gut
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 16, 2002 He hasn't shown enough to make a call on his potential. He knows a few moves...well good for him but that isn't showing that he has potential to be good. He deserves to be buried in the Farm League. Hopefully after Tough Enough 2 comes out that is exactly what will happen to him.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 He looked better than both Taker and HHH... ...I considered him the second best wrestler in that match...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Well hell Undertaker would make Hogan look like the greatest WRESTLER to ever live.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 He has big potential. He looked small next to Angle, Taker & HHH. They might change in a few years.
Guest Juvydriver Report post Posted February 16, 2002 What do you guys expect from him?? He's put in this position for a reason...and guess what, it's not for him to dominate. He was put in this match so HHH would have a handicap. If any of your HWA/OVW/ECWA/other indy "superstar" were to have his "spot," half the people here would be bitching that they are being buried and not given a chance. The fact of the matter is this: Maven is over with the crowd right now and by throwing him into the match does several things. 1) He gets sympathy heat because everybody knows he's way out of his league. 2) People cheer for HHH more because he's getting screwed by Vince. 3) People hate Vince more for screwing with HHH. 4) Taker gets more heat for constantly beating him up. It works out well for everybody involved. Besides, if Vince thought he could make .50 cents with any of the guys in HWA/OVW right now, don't you think he'd have them on Raw every week? Apparently, he doesn't feel the same way about the guys that have "earned the spot" and "paid their dues." Of course, he's an idiot. We're all billionaires. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Maven will remain popular untill his newness wears off. After that he'll go to the minors and if he's ever brought back he'll be lower card. I'm glad that Maven's doing well, I'm glad he knows how to act backstage, seems like a very nice guy...but I hate the way they created a wrestler out of nothing. Maven is a boyband...simply put together...do you really think Maven would have ever gone to wrestling school on his own? I doubt it...and I'm not knocking the guy...he took an opportunity that any of us would have. But he's showing below average working in the ring...he's got a nice dropkick...so that's usually the first move he lands...downhill after that, his selling is brutal. And Vince simply shows his highlights in the ring and tends to shy away from everything else. I wish him luck though...I can't give you an evaluation of Maven that isn't skewed right now...maybe in 4-5 years.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted February 16, 2002 i for one arent complaining that maven is there, and i couldnt give a shit about most of the indies, as i have never seen any of them. like u juvidriver i hate it when people say that xxx (indert fav indy worker) will draw huge $$$ and be a giant success, hell if it was gonna happen they'd be there already. but back to maven, the only problem i have is that hes had very limited experience, and that he should go back to hwa and get a complete moveset, etc so he can work a match with anybody on the roster, and take all the bumps, etc. but this has nothing to do with paying his dues, in 6-12 months, i imagine maven will be HUGE, and will be an awesome talent. hell, it wouldnt surprise me in 5 years if maven was maineventing and fueding for the title. Guest muswp1 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Maven is over right now because he can sell any move he's hit with better than half the upper card. Aside from his dropkicks and suplexes, he really doesn't have any more moves. He has the potential to be a very good wrestler if he just doesn't forget how to sell. Let's see how Vince can screw this up.
Guest BlackRainbow1025 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 Hmm......good charisma, a few good moves.....you say you hope he doesn't forget how to sell. Don't worry, if he forgets how to sell, he can be the next Rock. All he has to do is get his ass kicked for a few minutes, Hulk up, and then dropkick, german suplex and some "electrifying" move and he'll be the biggest star in the WWF. Honestly, I think he'll be good if given time to train.
Guest Flair5000 Report post Posted February 16, 2002 He deserves to be where he is. We'd all like our favourites in his spot, but as has been stated he's a better wrestler than half the roster at least and can only get better. Anything or anyone that keeps Bossman, Rikishi, Test etc away is worth it. But... When the nWo come back, he'll vanish.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted February 16, 2002 When the nWo come back, he'll vanish. i actually doubt whether that will happen. with maven, vince and the wwf have a proverbial blank canvas to work with, as he hasnt picked up any bad habits (such as high spot only offence) through working indies. also, the wwf can develop him to work their style, and as long as tough enough 2 is on, maven will get at least some airtime to hype it. Guest DokDoyle Report post Posted February 16, 2002 As for the "Boyband" comment, Sure, he got his shot on TV, but he earned his shot at this. he didn't walk through Tough Enough and they said "Here's a contract". Undertaker beats up Maven= undertaker getting more heel heat. One of the few times I've been legitametly(sp?) angry at wrestling was at the Rumble when Taker beat the living crap out of him. If only they would of let him come crawling back to the ring, just to get eliminated right away That would have put him over more then he was.
