TheFranchise Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I'm watching the Hulk Hogan Ultimate Anthology, and i'm not big on the history of the XWF, what was it all about, there must have been something good with Schiavone and Lawler on commentary, and Heenen in Hennig's corner against Hogan. What went wrong and right with XWF?
Dobbs 3K Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I'm not big on their history either, but basically XWF was Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart's attempt to fill the void left by WCW's demise. I believe they had some financial backing, and were trying to get a TV deal. XWF had a lot of former WCW guys, and was trying to be a "family friendly alternative". They taped their episodes at Universal Studios in Florida. Their big problem was that they were unable to secure a TV deal, and WWF ended up signing Hogan, Piper, Hennig, Lawler and Sable (who was their "commisioner") to deals. WWE has the rights to their footage now, obviously.
GreatWhiteNope Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 WWE has the rights to their footage now, obviously. I heard otherwise - WWE just licensed the Hennig-Hogan match from Jimmy Hart (who owns the XWF tape library) for Hogan's DVD set.
