Guest kurtangledoesnotsuck Posted June 15, 2002 Report Posted June 15, 2002 GIANT GONZALES PROFILE Real Name - Jorge Gonzales Height - 7 feet 6 inches Weight - 380 pounds Finisher - Brain Claw Titles Held - None Jorge Gonzales is a criminal. Yea, you read right, a criminal. You know why? Because he managed to wrestle for the world's two biggest companies without the slightest in-ring knowledge. Gonzales had one thing on his side, however, his height. He was extrememly tall, perhaps the biggest in any sport, but he should have stuck to basketball, instead of stinking up American rings for well over three years. In the early 90s, Gonzales was approached by WCW to wrestle after they were impressed with his, erm, height.WCW didn't care about the wrestling. After all, they did have Sid Vicious. So with little or no wrestling training, Gonzales was given an insane push in WCW, but, of course, the plan failed and Gonzales was fired, because he sucked.....badly. However, all was not lost for the big man, as Vince McMahon approached the freak of nature to become a wrestler in the WWF. Why Vince did this, nobody will know, but perhaps Vince thought he could rub Gonzales in the face of WCW, the company that released him. Once again, Gonzales got lucky and he was given a massive push by McMahon and pitted in a feud with The Undertaker. In 1993, The Undertaker was the top man in the industry. He was big, tough, and pretty good in the ring. But his career was nearly destroyed when he was informed he would fight Gonzales over a period of months. Gonzales's ring attire was utterly ridiculous. He was kitted out in a suit which was supposed to look like flesh and muscle. He was billed to be over 400 pounds, but his real weight was never really disclosed. Chances are, he was just a skinny basketball player. So at Royal Rumble 1993, Gonzales illegaly entered the ring and eliminated The Undertaker. Managed by future Women's champion Harvey Whippleman, Gonzales became a total laughing stock, participating in some of the worst matches in history. Gonzales couldn't wrestle. He mainly kicked, punched or raked the odd eye. Despite his size advantage, he never slammed anyone with any success. Many could argue that Gonzales should have been told where to shove his fancy-dress costume, after an appalling match with the baffled Undertaker at Wrestlemania 9. Gonzales was disqualified, after choking Undertaker out with a chloroform soaked rag. After another match with Underaker at Summerslam that year, Gonzales left the WWF, minus his dignity. Gonzales was never seen in another wrestling ring in the western world, but rumours have it that he had a brief career in Japan. It didn't matter, Gonzales had made his money, he had robbed everyone of cash he didn't deserve. The word Giant and Gonzales were never mentioned in the same sentence on another WWF broadcast, after his departure. He is still alive, but I'm sure a few people would like to get his address so they could inform him that he was the worst wrestler of all time.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted June 15, 2002 Report Posted June 15, 2002 Very interesting choice. Good review with what little is available. Also a great job considering who you were reviewing.
Guest Posted June 15, 2002 Report Posted June 15, 2002 Very good profile. I hope you write profiles for more Wrestlecrap inductees besides The Giant Gonzales.
