Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I have the results from last night's CCW show and also there is a HUGE ANNOUCEMENT regarding TV! I copied these from another board that a CCW Rep posted on....its so much easier that way. Great weather FINALLY cooperated with CCW and that helped Newman generate a record-drawing crowd as 355 noisy, jubilant, excited fans packed the CCW Event Center at the FDES Hall (Event staff told me that they ran out of tickets and had to resort to hand-stamping!) The evening started with some great news, with JJ Purdom announcing to the packed crowd that California Championship Wrestling has signed an exclusive deal with Comcast's On Demand Network in the San Francisco/Sacramento Area! CCW's programming should be available in those areas starting on May 15th-18th 2007 and will be a free broadcast for all fans of the greatest Pro Wrestling in California to watch 24 hours a day. CCW will be providing monthly updates to our Comcast On Demand shows. Please speak to your Comcast office for availability of On Demand in your area. California Championship Wrestling wants to thank Comcast for offering us this unique opportunity to entertain fans throughout the Northern California area! However with such wonderful news came sad news as well, as the undefeated championship reign of Vinnie Massaro as CCW title holder had to come to an end with a recent hand injury that he had suffered earlier in the week. Being out for at least two months, JJ and the CCW administration was faced with no other alternative but to award the title to the #1 contender...RIK LUXURY! Rik was overwhelmed with the thought that he was now holder of the title he had worked so long to acheive, although without truly besting Vinnie in the ring...However, Rik's title reign would not last long without a challenger. Big Ugly came to ringside and reminded the fans that they came to Newman to watch a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, for the title, and they were going to get one! So it was decided that Ugly would face Rik in Rik's "instant" title defense later that evening, tables, ladders and chairs included! On top of all this excitement, R-Cayde's mischeivious challenge to Westside Champion Virgil Flynn for his title included such strange stipulations as DQ's count as pinfalls and top rope moves would be considered a DQ. Despite these strange rules that would need a guidebook or walkthrough to navigate, Virgil used his obvious skill and agility to take the match to R-Cayde, hitting him with his standing tarantula as well as his cannonball drop! R-Cayde tried to cheat his way again to a title victory and he almost had it, but with the help of Vinnie in the commentator's booth, Vinnie was able to show both Ref Toby and the audience on the new CCW-tron big screen projection that R-Cayde cheated to get the victory...In a first for CCW, instant replay was used to overturn a ref's decision in the ring and the match was restarted, and Virgil was the one whose hand was raised in the end! Virgil bested R-Cayde but there's no doubt that the crafty videogame genius will be hunting both the gold and Virgil wherever the two meet in CCW! The next match featured Mother Truckin Otis pitting his undefeated streak against British Messiah Timothy Thatcher and his meddling manservant, Lord William. From the git-go, the Jolly Long Hauler was besieged by both Thatcher's formidable ring savvy and viscious nature and Lord Williams' constant interference with the flow and ebb of the match. Although Otis was able to use his massive size to push Thatcher around, the constant distractions posed by Lord William were too much, including throwing a scalding pot of tea in the face of poor Otis! Thatcher was able to take the big man off his feet and taking advantage of all the distractions, and became the first man in CCW to get a "win" (if you can call it that) over the Mother Truckn' One... However, there was certainly a price to pay especially for Lord William who was flattened like a pancake by Otis in the middle of the ring and then given the ultimate in bad-taste moves, the "snot rag" in the mouth!!! Then the fans got to see the ultimate in CCW title defenses: The CCW Heavyweight title on the line against Big Ugly and now-champion Rik Luxury in a TABLES, LADDERS AND CHAIRS MATCH! The TLC match was set for pinfall or submission, and otherwise had no other rules involved. Rik and Big Ugly battled each other all over the CCW Event center, walloping each other with chairs and the ubiquitous ladder. At one point, Rik had Ugly right where he wanted him, on the table and ready to do either a top rope elbow or leg drop on Ugly but Ugly recovered in time to catch Rik at the top of the ladder, and then with a viscious slam, drove Rik into the table. Rik, although a glutton for punishment (many people call him the Mic Foley of Nor cal for his never ending desire for pain), could not take the compiled beating from Ugly-- and falling through the table was literally the last straw. Ugly managed to crawl on top of Rik and Ref Guido counted 3-- and twice in one night a new CCW Champion was crowned! Big Ugly JD Bishop is now the NEW CCW Heavyweight Champion! The fans went wild for their new champion, although Big Ugly was so thrilled it was obvious that he still retains a lot of respect for the original title holder Vinnie Massaro, who is still his good friend and tag partner with the Cartel...Vinnie came in to congratulate the new champ and hopefully when Vinnie's hand has recovered Big Ugly will do the sporting thing and give Vinnie a shot back at the title that he never lost but was forced to give up! After intermission, it was time for the 10 man California Rumble; two men started and then every 2 minutes another man was added until all 10 men were in the ring, and whoever was left standing and not thrown over the top rope would be the winner and #1 contender to Big Ugly's new CCW title reign! Adam Thornstowe started first, then followed by Timothy Thatcher, then Trent Badapple, Luster the Legend, Mother Truckin Otis, R-Cayde, Virgil, DD and finally Malachi. Like most rumbles, there is simply too much action to call at one point in time (fortunately with our new Comcast deal, everyone within On Demand viewing range can simply tune in to the broadcast and you'll see what I mean)-- but many of the feuds that were seen earlier such as R-Cayde vs Virgil and Thatcher vs Otis continued in the ring...What was interesting was to see that the Reno Scum Luster, Adam and Malachi were not exactly the best of friends in the ring...Malachi coming in at the end was to his advantage as he eliminated many of the men still in the ring at the time-- it came down to Adam and Malachi, and Adam tried a number of precarious top rope moves to wear his Scum-chum down... Eventually it caught up to him as he was knocked off the top rope and to the floor costing him his shot at the title...However, a mystery 11th man came to ringside as a final contender...BUDDY SOTELLO ESQUIRE! In his "Battlin' Buddy" garb including a bike helmet and sports goggles, Buddy came to ringside announcing that HE would be the #1 contender against Ugly next month if Malachi would just step aside and eliminate himself. He would pay Malachi anything for a shot against Ugly! Malachi turned down Buddy's offer and Buddy foolhardedly slapped Malachi and jumped on his back trying to put him to sleep with a sleeper move (and then probably use the Badapples help to toss him out of the ring presumably!) Malachi tossed him off like a sack of laundry to the mat, and then was beseiged by the BadApples...However Malachi fought off their attack, tossed them out of the ring, and then picked up Buddy, pressed him above his head, and sent him crashing outside the ring on top of the BadApples...A ruined Buddy was dragged back stage amidst chants of "You Suck" by even the youngest fans in attendance... CCW cannot thank enough all the great fans of Newman who have made each show in the FDES Hall more successful than the last! CCW also wants to thank its many sponsors such as Newman Mini Mart & Subway (thanks for the sandwiches for the crew!), Isic's Autobody, Calmputer Consulting Services, and Douglas Lewis Real Estate... Next month will be the build up for our July 1 year anniversary show which will be one of Northern California's Greatest Wrestling events of 2007! June 2nd will feature some incredible matches setting us up for our 1st year anniversary show including: Big Ugly JD Bishop defending his newly won title against the Monstrous Malachi, Virgil Flynn's Westside title defense, tag team action featuring the Sotello Syndicate's BadApples, the California Crippler, British Messiah Timothy Thatcher and more! Visit www.californiachampionshipwrestling.com for details and get your tickets EARLY because we are likely to sell out again next month as well! And make sure to check your Comcast On-Demand Network for awesome new CCW action available 24 hours a day! It was a awesome night last night and I want to say thank you to CCW for a lot they have done for me and its been a blast being apart of their company.I'm very excited about the Comcast deal and I can't wait to watch it On-demand in a few days.
