With no competition whatsoever and a highly anticipated sequel that some expect to be the last of Sam Raimi in a comic book hero franchise?

It still grabbed about 10 million more than I truly expected but I had no doubt it would shatter the record. I'd say I'd like to see how it does in the second weekend but it's up against nothing again.

 

Unless we count the box office power of DELTA FARCE.

I'm way more stoked on 28 Weeks Later then I am on Spidey 3, 'specially because pre-release Spidey reviews were "meh" and pre-release 28 Weeks reviews are "FUCK YES".

Man, I totally forgot 28 Weeks Later was coming out. I am actually excited about that one and really looking forward to it. Plus it has the guy from Formula 51 in it.

I know he was in Trainspotting, The Full Monty, and for some reason he was in Eragon. I liked him best in Formula 51 and I've never seen The World is Not Enough. I'm not sure what other movies to check out that he's in other than the ones I've seen.

 

And I have heard a rumor that he will be taking over for David Tenant as Doctor Who, but I don't know if that's been confirmed or not.

Spidey's numbers don't surprise me. There really isn't anything out right now. I'm just curious as to how well POTC and Shrek are going to do since they are coming out a week apart and are bound to have some overlap in audience.

28 Weeks Later is really going to be the surprise next week. The hyped up trailers, great reviews... and the fact everyone is basically coming out of Spiderman 3 and shitting on it should help it.

I bet 28 Weeks Later will premiere at #3, maybe #2 if it's lucky. Remember Georgia Rules with Lindsay Lohan and Jane Fonda is coming out next week and there are virtually no other chick flicks out, so I expect that to be #2.

That one is getting terrible advertising and is being marketed as a totally different movie than what it really is. It's going to be lucky to crack the Top 5.

$148 million is about $25 million more than I figured really..it helped that all the other movies out did nothing..

 

A note about Disturbia..thats gotta be one of the lowest 4 week totals for a movie that was #1 for 3 weeks and #2 for the 4th (less than $60 million).

A product of the lame movies that have been out as of late, but still you think a #1/2 movie out for a full month would make more than that.

I'll be waiting till the end of May to hit a movie theater. I get very few days off so if I'm going to a theater then I'll spend a day there and catch two or three movies. Pirates 3, Spidey 3, and Shrek 3 looks like a good day at the theater.

 

I didn't care for 28 days later so I'm iffy on the sequel.

I think that Georgia Rules won't do that well. There are a lot of people that don't like Jane Fonda for he political views and with all the negative publicity that came out during the filming of this film about Lohan not showing up and such, people are not going to be interested in this.

I don't think there any ones in the works now. Besides I think they'll just go Direct to DVD from now on since that's where all those movie made all their money.

Blades of Glory did fairly well, I think. Probably not PotC2 or Spidey3 numbers, but still earned a decent profit. At least I think so. I'm not very good at reading the box office numbers. ^^;;

 

Just wish they'd release it on dvd already. But that's just me being impatient.
