Bam Bam Bigelow walked after refusing to job to your new God, Taiyo Kea

The tournament for this show looked absolutely great: in the quarterfinals it was Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Taiyo Kea, Christopher Daniels vs. Vampiro, Jerry Lynn vs. La Parka, and Shane Douglas vs. Steve Corino.  However, it didn't turn out quite as good as one might expect.  

 

MLW Presents: How To Fuck Up A Show 101

 

-Rob Feinstein supposedly calls around town pretending to be a MLW rep, telling ticket outlets to stop selling tickets since the show is cancelled.  

-A family was having a barbacue in the parking lot (no I'm not making this up), blocking some cars from finding spaces.  

-The show started half an hour late.  

-Idiot fans shout ethnic slurs at both Kea and Parka.  

-Bam Bam walks out after either refusing to job to Kea, or getting paid with a check instead of cash, depending on who you believe.  

-As a "suitable replacement", MLW sticks The Wall in his place.  

-Vampiro shows up with his head shaved bald, with no makeup.  Nobody recognized him, and he was said to be incredibly lazy in his matches, just lying there in the other guy's holds and doing nothing.  

-Vampiro goes over Christopher Daniels and advances in the tournament.  

-Shane Douglas was said to be very rusty-looking (he's only had a couple of matches over the past year) and broken down, not good at all.  

-Shane Douglas goes over Steve Corino and Jerry Lynn and advances to the finals.  

-Kea and Vampiro fought in what was said to be an extremely boring and slow match, which went to a 10-minute draw, despite earlier matches having gone longer than that.  The referee extended the time limit five minutes.  The crowd booed.  The match continued in a very stall-filled manner for five more minutes.  The referee extended the time limit again.  The crowd booed again.  Finally, Shane Douglas ran in and attacked both men, and the referee declared it a three way dance.  The match ended less than two minutes later when Douglas won the match and the title.  

-Douglas repeated the infamous NWA Title debacle and threw the belt down, saying that it meant nothing to him and he didn't want it.  This is the first man to hold the new belt in a new company.  

-The referee told Douglas that he would be forced to hold and defend the title or lose his wrestler's license.  The way he phrased it, it sounded like the ref meant that Douglas would be defending it right away.  The crowd chanted "We want Bam Bam!"  However nothing happened, everyone walked to the back and the show ended.  

 

 

Wow.  Woof.  At least Heroes Of Wrestling had the excuse of featuring a bunch of 50-year-old hasbeens.

Yikes.  I'm a big Shane fan, but that is not the way to kick off your new promotion.

 

And what is with Vampiro?  The guy goes from being a Smark darling to a lazy no-talent just as quickly as his star had risen.  Too bad, he might have hit it big had he stayed motivated.

I read the results on Observer today, and wondered "why such a stupid *wink-wink* style of booking?". Why would Douglas, the character, go through all that work just to rehash another throwing down of the belt? and a curveball 3 way dance on your first show? ugh.

douglas just plain sucks.  the mlw made a huge mistake there IMO

I agree with Dreamer420...Shane Douglas is one of the most overrated pieces of crap in wrestling history. Ric Flair put it best when he called him "the quarterback that always threw a yard short."
