Guest Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I had pretty low expectations when I went to see Windtalkers tonight. I wasn't crazy about John Woo's last two films (M:I 2 & Face/Off) and the fact that it had been delayed for over a year didn't help. Going in, my only 2 reasons for wanting to see it were for Christain Slater (I've always liked him) and especially to see Adam Beach in his first "big movie" role. A lot of people are hating this movie, and I can understand why. The main focus of the movie is on a white soldier, not a Native windtalker, and the story is fairly formulatic and full of standard war film cliches. That said, I still had a good time. I liked most of the actors and the characters they played, and the action scenes were well done. The movie is extremely violent, with buckets of blood, arms and legs being shot/sliced off and even a beheading. All in all, I had a good time. Windtalkers is no classic, but it was a fun popcorn movie and I thought it was 100 times better WW II movie than Pearl Harbor.
