Guest Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I was just thinking about this... Now that Austin is gone with no chance of returning, do you think that Vince will step up the negotiation process to get Goldberg into the WWE? When Rock left the negotiations started and pretty much went nowhere, but now that Austin's gone, it wouldn't surprise me if Vince got a little more serious and started offering the money Goldberg is probably holding out for
Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 16, 2002 Yes, it obviously improves the chances of Goldberg coming it. It DOES however hurt WWE in terms of the MAIN reason of Goldberg coming in is now gone, that being the huge Austin/Goldberg feud they would have had. Still though, he'll show up in due time, that is, unless NWA-TNA signs them both first and then THEY have the Austin/Goldberg feud instead. (Which would be the smartest thing that new company could ever do, in terms of doing something groudbreaking and making fans stand up and take notice.) Guest Brian Report post Posted June 16, 2002 No. Because with Austin gone Goldberg has more leverage, and they'd probably rather bring back Austin than pay Goldberg as much as he wants.

He may have more leverage, but WWE also looks at themselves in a more "desperate" light, so now more than ever, they would be willing to give into Goldberg. Guest Brian Report post Posted June 16, 2002 Until they totally drop Austin, they probably won't get Goldberg unless they come to terms with Austin and have Goldberg vs. Austin.
Guest Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I don't think Vince will bring in Bill Goldberg, for lots of reasons already covered hundred of times here. The main reason, though, is that Vince hates talent that were really "made" somewhere else. The only way they'd bring in Goldberg would be to job him out to Brok-berg their HOMEGROWN answer to Bill Goldberg. Why not try something different... why not give RVD the "Goldberg" push. I don't know if it's ever been done to a guy who isn't a power wrestler... but he could just dazzle all the big guys with his high-risk, high flying offense. It could be what he needs to push him over the top.
Guest Report post Posted June 16, 2002 IF they do, I feel it would be the wrong decision, since they've stressed so much in the past few days about how they need to build new stars, and by bringing in Goldberg to fill Austin's spot, then that pretty much lessens the chances of someone like RVD filling Of course... if Goldberg did show up I would mark out. Not because I'm a Goldberg mark, but just because of how surreal it would be
Guest Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I don't think Vince will bring in Bill Goldberg, for lots of reasons already covered hundred of times here. Well it's obvious Vince would bring in Goldberg because they have been negotating with Goldberg being the only participant backing away
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I don't believe the WWF will sign Goldberg. If they do, I expect a feud of Goldberg/Booker vs Nash/Steiner or something.
Guest BookerTman Report post Posted June 16, 2002 Triple H and Goldberg despise each other, don't they?
Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I don't believe the WWF will sign Goldberg. Is it just me, or will the majority of people continue to call WWE the WWF? It seems like almost everyone still calls it the WWF, and with good reason. Sorry, I just thought I'd point this out, lol.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 16, 2002 I don't think so. As covered Austin is gone so that dream match is all but gone. Rock might as well be gone. I'm sure they could schedule it, but would it be worth it? HHH and Goldberg do hate each other, and I think HHH would be resistant to working with him. I'd be surprised if the Undertaker would take the two big bumps from his main moves. Who wants to work with him after he kicked Bret Hart into retirement? Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted June 16, 2002 RVD already had a run like that in ECW, over the 1998-99 period he was almost as invincible as GB was. Thing is, it is hard to do an angle like that with RVD since he isn't dominant. Doesn't squash people. It would be thrilling though, since he could almost lose a bunch of matches but would somehow come through.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted June 16, 2002 Yeah, and Golberg has bashed the WWE for several other things in the past that have made them less-than-enthusiastic about hiring him. The bottom line is money, and while I sincerely doubt Golberg can earn as much money as he's demanding for his services (especially after how much he was damanged in WCW), that won't stop Vince from desperately signing him for a quick fix. Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted June 17, 2002 I'm not a big Goldberg fan but I'd love to see him come in. I pretty much agree with the reasons he won't that have already been mentioned in this thread. But what the world really anticipates is the debut of "Stone Cold" Duane Gill. Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 17, 2002 "Still though, he'll show up in due time, that is, unless NWA-TNA signs them both first and then THEY have the Austin/Goldberg feud instead." I don't think Vince McMahon is going to hire an over-the-hill greedy-man who has to be carried every match. I don't know what kind of bankroll the NWA-TNA possess right now, but I doubt that they could sign both Goldberg and Austin(who is still under contract with the WWE)......
