Guest Taylorjt4 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 VCW Liberty Lottery Saturday July 7th The Old School Main Event: Mike Booth defends the VCW Heavyweight Championship against his Old School Empire partner Damien Wayne, with fellow OSE member Preston Quinn as the special guest referee! What began as a friendly argument between two friends and tag-team partners errupted into a violent trade of insults and threats. Just as VCW Heavyweight Champion Mike Booth and his Old School Empire partner "Mr. Mid-Atlantic" Damien Wayne began to fight, OSE founder Preston Quinn came from the shadows in an attempt to reason with them. Perhaps he succeeded for the moment, but Damien Wayne was quick to cash in his title shot that he earned by winning "The Match of The Century" back in March. VCW Commissioner George Pantas then decided that if The Old School Empire were going to compete against each other, then no one was more qualified to referee an old-school main event than fellow OSE Member Preston Quinn. This contest is likely to be a strong candidate for match of the year on any stage, and VCW is pleased to present such a credible main event. TNA Superstar Sonjay Dutt vs ECW Original "The Enforcer" CW Anderson Superstars representing two of the biggest wrestling poromotions ever will compete against each other in Virginia Beach, and the winner receives a spot in the Liberty Lottery Battle Royal later in the evening. Sonjay Dutt has been making a name for himself in TNA Wrestling, making regular appearances on their weekly television program on SPIKE. In recent weeks, fans have seen him transform into somehwat of a Guru, under the guidance of Kevin Nash. Sonjay has competed in VCW in the past, making waves in a series of Cruiserweight matches and was a member of "The Untouchables" (Sean Denny, Dirty Money, Sonjay Dutt, Kory James, and Kameo). He appeared at an event in Hampton last year to compete against Phil Brown, who was soon to leave for a possible WWE developmental contract. Sonjay is a favorite among younger audiences that applaude a newer style of fast-paced wrestling that includes innovative moves and high-risk tactics to gain victories. Standing in his way is "The Enforcer" CW Anderson, a member of the First Family of Wrestling (The Andersons) and an ECW Original that made a name for himself as a member of The Dangerous Alliance. He is also recognized for a series of matches with Tommy Dreamer, including the legendary "I-Quit" Match. A staple of ECW Pay-Per-Views and television broadcasts, CW later went on to compete in the largest independent promotions in the World, including regular competition in Japan. He also gained prominence as a member of "The Extreme Horsemen", a popular updated version of the legendary group. Liberty Lottery Battle Royale A new VCW United States Liberty Champion will be crowned as a result of "The Liberty Lottery", a 15-man "Rumble" style Battle Royale that features an interesting concept: It is called a lottery because the fans will draw the names! Two participants will comepete for two minutes, afterwhich a new participant will enter and every two minutes therafter a fan will draw the name of the next participant. The last man standing is the winner and the new VCW United States Liberty Champion. The Liberty Lottery has no referee. Only a VCW official ringside to declare the winner. Christian York and John Kermon defend the VCW Tag-Team Championships against Former Champions Ross and James Hall, The Hall Brothers The Hall Brothers hope to regain their VCW Tag-Team Championships in a rematch ordered by VCW Commissioner George Pantas. It seemed like Christian York and John Kermon used every dirty tactic in the book when they scored an upset by defeating The Hall Brothers for the gold at Cinco de Mayhem. Even the referee lost control near the end of the match and a series of confusing circumstances almost lead to the match being called a no contest. In the end, it was York and Kermon that left with the belts, leaving Ross and James very frustrated. The Hall Brothers, a vastly popular tag-team, had been able to hold onto the championships for over a year and narrowly escaped with the straps many times because they are often the underdogs. No one expected the match against York and Kermon to be any different. Christian York is a former VCW Tag-Team Champion with Joey Mathews (Mercury), and returned to VCW in hopes of winning some gold. He agreed to compete against The Hall Brothers before he even had a tag-team partner. It was John Kermon, frustrated with not being able to beat The Hall Brothers in past matches with Malik as his partner, that signed up for the match and agreed to team with York. In their first match ever as a tag-team, York and Kermon used trickery to confuse the referee and were able to cheat their way to the championships.
